They say science fiction never really predicts the future, and yet Captain Picard says “tea, earl grey, hot” in that meticulous way observed only in someone with a slightly unusual accent who’s finally figured out the exact cadence and phrasing their voice activated smart-whatever actually understands and suspects if they allow their tone to vary even one iota it’s going to interpret their drink order as a request for a live ocelot.

qpid is a really funny episode for a lot of reasons but my favorite part about it is the first 20 minutes that are just vash showing up on the ship and the entire bridge crew trying to figure out how to ask her if she fucked their boss

Alas, I knew her…

Though, the Borg Queen may have a bit less "infinite jest" and "most excellent fancy" than Yorick, but she makes up for it with her enviable amount metallic tubing.

Riker was a stuffy old man and he wasn’t? He had to smile at that--there was simply no choice, no matter that he'd really rather not give Q the satisfaction of visibly amusing him. "They've promoted him. He finally accepted, now that it's the Enterprise on offer."
Jean Luc looked back at him too, but only because he needed to keep an eye on the most dangerous being in this sector. For everybody's safety. "Earth. France. Then, if I'm lucky, off to a university very far away from there. Does your question mean you're planning to come along? It really will be very boring."
"You were a child?" he prompts. "What happened to eternal and unchanging?" Of course he remembers what it was like to be a child, and that memory only makes this whole situation worse. It had been bad enough when Robert had only been slightly older than him, with no more authority than he had. Now, to be younger even than René... Even with the clear understanding that he was still an adult, and that this all was only for show, Jean Luc was not looking forward to the experience of sharing a home with him once again. That all said, it wasn't anything he had done or forgotten which had put him in this situation--it was just a freak accident.
"I'm not going to be doing anything interesting or exciting for years now. Why don't you go bother Captain Riker instead?" Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, he doesn't manage to sound like he really means that.

It took him a second to puzzle it out, but not much longer, and then his confusion turned right back to irritation. "I'm not interested, Q. Though temporarily relieved of duty is not the same as losing my rank. I'm still a captain to you." And he would gladly die on that hill, if it was asked of him.
Of course, he is interested; he never has been able to properly ignore Q, even in his adult body, with years of impulse control written into his actions. "Why are you here? Have you come to gloat?"

Open Starter: Growing Pains
Jean Luc was many things. He was stuck in the body of his preteen self, left to grow up all over again. He was bitter. He was annoyed. He was tentatively optimistic about his newly-extended lifespan and the opportunity to finally finish his PhD in Archeology, which had been abandoned when he'd taken command of the Enterprise. He was also temporarily relieved of duty and on his way back to France to work out the details of his brother's guardianship over him. And that made him furious.
He set down the book he couldn't seem to focus on and looked out the window of the transport vessel at the stars. Then he sighed. When another passenger laughed, he turned sharply to face them, preteen hormones bubbling up to destroy any hope he had of remaining as calm and collected as he had prided himself in being in recent years. "What?"
