There has been an incredible amount of MLP art on my Instagram, specifically the redesign of a bunch of characters.

After talking to a few of my friends I decided to give it a shot, so here are the 6 protagonists!

Disclaimer: I have never watched this show, all I know about it comes from second-hand information I've gotten from my friends plus a few things that I've looked up myself

Additional info: Pinkie Pie is blind in her blue eye, Twilight's magic doesn't work until she makes friends with the other protagonists, and Rainbow Dash has a much bigger family, but more on that another time

THESE TWO PRINCESSES TOOK ME A STUPID AMOUNT OF TIME TO REDESIGN

You know me, I love a good trope. And I really like it when royal characters look uncanny valley compared to their subjects. And that idea was my downfall here. I redesigned Celestial no less than six times before I settled on something that I liked. And of the two sisters, she's my least favorite!

I am not touching these two anymore. If I do, kill me on sight.

In this Au the turtles and his friends will be forced to participate in supersonic races, while trying to save the earth. I made futuristic and colorful environments art for this, with a strong influence on Playstation 2 aesthetics.

Chronologically located in the space arc, it's an AU inspired by my favorite Sonic game.

Leo used to have a board too, but it was sabotaged and destroyed during a race, similar to what happened to Sonic in Sand Ruins. Fortunately, the pieces were recovered by Donatello, and used to build his skates.

Luminous beings

What if Jedi daemons glow? Like leaving faint trails of light behind them when they move, eyes that glimmer faintly, fading completely to light around the edges. The brighter one's daemon glows, the stronger they are in the Force and the more connected they are to the light. When a Jedi begins to fall, the light around their daemon doesn't fade, but it begins to flicker every so often, getting more sickly and artificial looking instead of the natural glow that they used to have.

(What if no one notices the light of Anakin's daemon getting less and less bright and genuine since she glows so brightly from his natural strength? What if, in the moment where Anakin finally rebels against the Emperor, she finally begins to glow again, one last burst of light fading like a supernova as the two of them die?)

Sith daemons don't glow the same way. They aren't connected to the light side of the Force, so they trail inky black smoke instead. It bears a foul scent, like something long since gone to rot, and the longer and further one has Fallen, the thicker and darker the smoke gets. (What if Palpatine has learned how to suppress this, at least in the company of others who do not know that he's a Sith, but traces still linger? What if he stops pretending at all after the Empire is formed?)

CODY: I was not expecting Cody to end up looking like a paladin, but it suits him. Ironically, the more I designed him, the more I ended up appreciating his actual design. Something about how he deliberately does not wear any major embellishments reflects his personality as competent and straightforward. He doesn't need any embellishments or fancy maneuvers to command respect, his work speaks for itself.

Also gave Cody a Big Gun (TM) because it looks way cooler than the teeny blaster he usually uses. This is the very first time I've ever had to research firearms for my art because some gun nerd worked on the series and now every single damn blaster is an actual known model and design rather than just being a generic long black rectangle.

WOLFFE: Self-explanatory

FOX: Really struggled with Fox. I love his default design because it already has very little white and I didn't want to hide his fancy pattern. I was originally going to go for a kitsune approach but I was struggling to give his helmet a fox pattern, especially since I didn't want to remove his visor (Wolffe's designers really popped off with his helmet, idk how they managed to fit the wolf design on it).

Ended up giving him the fox pelt shrug, cape, and tassels because I imagine that the Coruscant Guard is extremely public facing, especially in the Senate, so a certain level of decorum and dressiness is expected of them, kind of like the King's Guard at Buckingham Palace.

Shout out to Hot Toys, whose action figures are so beautifully designed I could actually use them as refs for art. Double shout out to them for making every single clone, including the Bad Batch, actually look like Temuera Morrison or derivative of him.

((( I'm sorry TCW but you cannot convince me that the 2008 clone models you made and then got stuck with look anything like Temuera Morrison. ))))
