storyline brainstorming notes:

"Soldier & servant"— coming from a line of royal guards, generals, and soldiers; Toffee is conditioned to view his self worth to how well he serves and protects his people, especially family and best friends (Glabgor and Eclipsa)

This plays an integral part of his personality, values, and arc

Parental relationships— Globgor, Eclipsa, and Toffee each have varying degrees of good and bad relationships with their own parents... sometimes leading to jealousy and longing to be a part of the other's family

Globgor's father was hot tempered and close minded. His mother is a nice woman but seemed to connect better with Toffee. *((Glob's and Tof's mother's were best friends))

Toffee was asexually conceived so biologically he doesn't have a father, although Seth is somewhat the father authority *((a father's power of authority, NOT a father figure)). His mother was more than caring and emotionally available for him... probably to "heal" herself from the absence of her own mother and the negligent care from Seth. Despite this, she spent the majority of her time on the field against the Mewmans while studying magic and how to rid of it.

I don't own a copy of the Magical Book of Spells, so Eclipsa's parents aren't as developed until I read up her chapter in order to have a canon-ish basis to start from

I like the idea of the three bonding over the concern of inheriting the worst side of their parents/ancestors

Eclipse, Toff, and Glob polyship canon??

The more I think about them and the possibilities, the more l enjoy the idea

... doesn't change the fact that Toffee will constantly be haunted by loss, regret, or whatever baggage in any and every rewrite

The deciding between leaving them in the crystal because he didn't have the power to do so or somehow, find another way to free them before Meteora passes away was a huge source of turmoil; especially after the conflict with Globgor's parents after it happened

Season 1 until Battle for Mewni canon??— contemplating whether how close to the canon I want to follow because honestly, I feel like Toffee's process for getting his finger back in the show was too convoluted to personally consider it a "smart" plan. It felt even more worthless when Darron's explanation of his motives was **just** to get his finger back? for what?? It didn't even give him the upper hand in BFM

....

Toffee with chest patches. It's gonna be difficult to get a top surgery or any permanent physical alterations due to your species' ability to regenerate.

AS OF NOW I'm refraining from labelling Toffee's gender identity; so I will often refer to him with they/them as their second set of pronouns.

My Toffee were born with an assortment of conditions that was never taken care of due to the ongoing war and because hybrid Septarians being extremely uncommon.

Adults thought they were a female during their infancy as children conceived without a father always result to being a biological clone of their mother. Male adjacent characteristics started to develop as they grew, but not to the extent that others would recognize them as exclusively male.

Around the age of 12, Toffee became fully conscious of their physical dissimilarities and would receive awkward and unwanted attention. So they resulted to present themselves as male, refer to he/him pronouns, and hide their other traits for the sake of avoiding confusion.

Because I want to stick SVTFOE's theme of coming of age, as well in a deeper meaning: I'd like Toffee and Eclipsa having moments of helping each other navigate through changes in life; which is what initiates him to finally trust her. Related to a whole other plotline: Eclipsa was the first friend to notice him feel uncomfortable in his own body as well as be the only person who somewhat relates/experiences what he's going through.

It's only after he retires (his late 30s in Septarian years) is when he is free to start focusing on his health and find his identity.
