Little drabble for @mcyt-aspec-week Day 3: Stars. This was written before writers fatigue slammed into me early Aug

Ranboo grew up as a child of the stars. All endermen are, with their connection to the End and its eternal embrace, the freezing air misting their breaths, and the safety of the Ender Dragon’s eyes.

It was her home, but it was a home she couldn’t return to. A banished prince, an outcast, and so terribly lonely away from all that she knew. 

Well, maybe not that lonely, she mused when something kicked her, ears twitching from the sleepy chirp.

It was no exaggeration to say the local avian was an annoying menace to their community, and at first Ranboo was adamant about hating him: despising his insistence to spend time together, calling them friends—best of friends—and that Ranboo was stuck with the shorer hybrid.

But despite it all, it was easy to find Tommy’s attempts at friendship enduring, because underneath all his bravo and energy, Tommy was just as alone as Ranboo. And that realization changed things for her. Made it easy to tease Tommy and look out for him, and at some point, she started considering him family. 

And sure she’ll always miss her home–her jewelry and status and the safety the crown came with; but for the first time in her life, there was someone that liked her and her company. And that meant everything to her, to have someone who didn’t want more from her, something that has always been gross and unattainable.

It’s strange, to view her banishment as a good thing. But it gave her a community, and someone who understands her. And despite the fact Tommy is a kicker in sleep, and drooled all over her shoulders with feathers falling everywhere, she wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Summary

Tubbo still doesn't know if he loves Ranboo back, not in the way that he’s supposed to, but he does know the ring is a grounding presence and that the Enderman’s company is enough to soothe the chill creeping into his bones and digging for his heart. It’s enough for the day to look a little brighter, a little more worth living for. --- or, Five times Ranboo makes Tubbo feel warm, and the one time he can't (aro4aro edition)
