Though it maddened Baxter to no end, he could already feel himself changing for this place. He could take the hours of them drawing blood from his body, could take the endless strain of trying to turn this bloody thing off under scrutiny, under duress, even in induced panic. But this, the compromising of his morals, of everything he held to be sacred about himself, felt like a step too far. He’d already started training harder, though - already begun to watch the other deviants for stutters in their steps, for weak points of a lack of balance. So he sighed, admiring Jade’s confidence, hating his own fears. “What’s the harm in taking the training? If we see the other side of this, we’re capable; it’s protection, Jade. It only makes sense.”
She walks over to him and places her hands on his shoulders. From the first day she met Baxter she knew he was different. He was not some hotheaded frat boy, and that made her give him a chance. He was sweet and not someone who could handle hurting someone else. “There is no problem with working out. Exercise is good for you. But taking it to that extreme? Baxter, we are better than that. And it’s not like either of us have to worry that much given our...abilities.”

“Not completely lost just saying hey. I heard there was a new girl and we gotta stick together here, trust me.”
“Oh, no–you aren’t interrupting. Can I help you with something? You look a little lost.”

Baxter rolled his eyes, looking away and around the room, the white walls, the white walls, the blank walls… “Look, I’m just trying to be realistic,” he muttered. He hated it as much as anyone, but their situation had clearly changed. “I’m just saying, we can put in a little more time, a little more effort. This is something worth training for, ridiculous as it may be.”
She shakes her head at him. “We shouldn’t have to give in to their system. We aren’t fighters and that’s okay!” She could be a fighter, but she didn’t want to be. She was not gonna compromise herself because of this stupid arena. “I’m not going crazy because this place wants me to. And that’s that.”

Jade stares at her friend, in utter disbelief that he had the nerve to say what he did aloud. “Please tell you’re joking, boy. I swear I can’t afford to be annoyed by you.”

“Mm,” Baxter hummed. “Not sure about all that. You know how it is, we’ve got to save ourselves before anyone else. I’ll try to stave off throwing you to the dogs, though, sure.”
“Oh yeah? Well I would save everyone else here before myself.” She sticks her tongue out at him. “But I appreciate your effort.”

Lux sighed an turned towards the voice, and found himself looking at someone who seemed rather familiar to him. “ Doesn’t matter they should know what they are getting themselves into, when they ask me into the lab. Also… do we know each other? You seem rather familiar to me, and i can’t figure out why. “
Jade sighs. “They are just doing their job. The least you can do is go easy on them. That intern couldn’t hurt you if it wanted to. “We might have met in my nightmares. Well, all of our nightmares. I’ve been told they’ve been linked recently.”

“ Oh i highly doubt any of us, are crazy … but they might drive us to it.” She said before staring at the other girl. “ An i never said it was that haunted just a little, mainly from former patients.”
“Well they can try.” Jade mumbles. She wasn’t going to let these scientists change the way she was. “Really? That’s...morbid. But also sad.”

“Crazy is an understatement. Keep it down, they could have you penciled in for a psych eval before you know it. And let’s be honest, the chances of you passing after that remark?”
“Well shit, I’m screwed,” she says, smiling at her friend. “You wouldn’t let them get me, would you? You know I am as sane as they come.”

“People died on yours as well?” He felt a chill run down his spin, it wasn’t crazy to think a collective dream could be shared in a place like this, but part of him wanted to think it could be just a coincidence.”Right, that wasn’t me, it was only a dream as you said. I’m not one to stand aside either, not in those circumstances.” He looks up at the woman with curious eyes. “I hate to ask, but do you believe people care share the same dreams. I only ask because–given what you’ve said and what I know of my own, they sound strikingly similar.”
“Umm...I mean never say never? I never thought people could grow wings and fly, but that’s been proven to be true. Maybe it was this place. They could’ve slipped some stuff into our drinks for all I know.”

“I had a dream where I was acting like a fool,” Julie replied, thinking back at the strange dream, “probably other people too, I don’t know anyone that well.”
“Me too. Weird. Maybe we all had a collective stress dream.”

“ Not really crazy, I mean it could be in the realm of actually happening considering what this place attracts. “ Ophelia said before laughing a bit, and shrugging. “ Or you all our actually crazy who knows.”
“I’m not crazy,” she states confidentially. “No matter what mumbo jumbo happens here.”

Jade wrinkles her nose at the sight of Lux. She remembered him in her dream as well. She was flirty, which was definitely not like her in the slightest. And at the sight of him scaring some lab rat, she found herself even more perplexed at the idea. “There was no need to scare the poor boy off. He was obviously an intern.”
Lux chuckled a bit as the other lab staff took off running, and screaming he didn’t mean to it’s the just man had provoked him. It wasn’t his fault he couldn’t control his temper or his powers, which often seemed to go hand in hand. Walking out of the lab , and into the hall-way sighing and wiped his hand across his mouth, wiping away the blood he felt dripping. “ You know sometimes i think they want me to murder everyone in this damn place.”

“That’s kinda funny, because I swear I had the same exact dream. Maybe we’re so used to this place now it’s starting to pop up in our nightmares.”
“I hope not. I just hate how long this one felt. It made me feel.....kinda gross.”

“Are you positive it wasn’t a nightmare?” He joked, his hands slipping into his pockets as he spoke. “I wasn’t much better. I was a hermit, a broken guilty man who watched all of these awful things happened. I did nothing to help, I was caught up in my own sadness to care about others. People were dying and all I did was watch.”
“No,” she says honestly, frowning. “Don’t beat yourself up. I mean, I was so into myself and my life that I ignored it all too....Normally I’d be one of the first people out there to fight.” She shakes her head. “I’m happy it was a dream, if anything.”

“No, no it’s not.” He blinked, not entirely sure if this were some kind of coincidence. The night before he had a dream that felt almost too real. “Places, people influence our dreams, but what might sound crazy is that I think I’ve had that dream as well. Probably not the same one, but possibly similar.”
“Huh. It’s stupid, because I was acting like a fool too. Acting like I was the hot shit or something. It’s funny now, but in the dream it was my truth. I was acting like all those girls I can’t stand.” She shudders a bit. “What about you? What was your dream like?”
