Long post incoming. So this was written for English as homework but it fits with the AU. Also Grim being a chef was because of Sunburned Albino’s comment on Grim’s fireballs looking like meatballs. Anyway onto the story.

Grim Gets a Job

Summary: Grim applies for a job at Porkrind's new restaurant on Inkwell Main and Wally impresses everyone everyone at his Poker skills.

Grim Matchstick waited patiently outside the Baroness Von Bon-Bon's castle. He had recently applied for a job as a cook for Porkrind's new restaurant in Inkwell Main, the centre island where Isles 1, 2 and 3 surrounded it. The interviews were being held at Baroness Von Bon Bon's castle due to its size and ability to interview several people at a time. Soon the pink Baroness opened a door to a small room with a desk, chairs, a laptop, books and a few other items. Recently the islands had gotten a time upgrade. Modern technology had been brought to the island by two humans from faraway lands and the residents were glad as shops could sell more items, the quartet could produce records, DVD's and music videos to show the public instead of having live concerts and cancelling due to rain. Grim sighed before preparing himself for the final interview and walked into the room where Porkrind, an anthropomorphic pig with an eyepatch and light blue shirt with rolled up sleeves sat behind the desk with several stacks of paper in hand and a large stone tablet, most likely Grim's resumé. He's written his on stone as not to burn the paper at all with his fire breath. Sitting himself, or at least attempting to, the green dragon/hydra fusion resorted to just standing up. Compared to Porkrind he wasn't much taller than the shopkeeper, save for about four extra feet. "Hello Matchstick. You sent in a resumé for a job as a cook for the new restaurant right?" Porkrind asked in his usual gravely voice. "Y-y-yes I-I did." He stuttered nervously. Matchstick had had this stutter his whole life and it was pretty embarrassing sometimes. He didn't have many friends due to it and had sold his soul to the Devil for some friends or companions. He got what he wanted, albeit with a few differences. For starters Grim's own fire could form into little soldiers and were completely sentient and second his two other heads (that are completely capable of disappearing at will) got personalities. One was mean and other was nice. It got really complicated since then until Cuphead and Mugman saved him. Porkrind set aside the stack of papers and picked up the stone tablet before having a quick read. "Well it seems you're qualified so congratulations Grim you got the job." Porkrind stated gleefully. "Oh thank you s-s-so much. I-I won't l-let you d-down." Matchstick said before rushing off to tell his friends the news. On the way he materialised his heads to tell them the news.

"We k-k-k-now you got the job Matchstick. You b-b-better not screw it up." Flame (the mean head) retorted. Did I mention the heads had names? The mean on was Flame and the nice one was Rain. "Flame! Whatever c-c-congrats on g-getting the job Grim." Rain congratulated. Grim smiled before taking off into the skies and dashing to Inkwell Isle 1 where Cuphead, Mugman, Elder Kettle and the others were having a picnic and playing Poker. As soon as he landed Mugman shot up from his seat and dashed over to the three headed hydragon. "So how did it go?" The blue mug asked. "It was great. I g-got the job." Grim replied. Everyone yelled Woohoo before inviting Grim to play. "Hey Grim wanna play some poker to celebrate?"Cuphead asked. Grim looked a little uneasy. Gambling was what got Cuphead and Mugman in trouble with the Devil and it seemed like they were just tempting fate. "Relax Matchstick, were using jellybeans instead of souls." Cuphead assured. Grim nodded and accepted before nestling himself on the ground to play. Currently Psycarrot was losing by a mile and surprisingly Wally Warbles, a red headed, blue bodied bird was winning. The surprise was he had a son, Waldo Warbles and he shouldn't be gambling because he would be a bad role model for him. Waldo was sleeping, Moe Tato, a brown anthropomorphic potato was, as usual eating dirt (he's a potato, what do you expect him to eat) and Cagney Carnation, a huge carnation flower with thorns on his stem was keeping score and commenting on the game. After an hour of rage induced losing, flying carrots, Weepy the Onion crying again and Hilda Berg, a red dress wearing woman who happened to be half mechanical and shapeshifter trying to attack Cagney for his annoying comments the game ended with Wally winning and Psycarrot losing. Soon they all disbanded and Grim headed for the restaurant. After arriving Grim grabbed an apron, uniform and hat before quickly washing his hands and wings then setting himself down at s cooking station.Soon the ordered started flowing and Matchstick was one busy dragon. Still he kept up all the orders and got them ready as fast as he could. Two hours in and Grim got a great surprise. All his friends had arrived and were trying to see what was on the menu. They had chosen a table with four dirt piles around it, chairs and a water pool, big enough for Cala Maria, a giant but able to shrink mermaid/gorgon hybrid with purple octopus hair and light blue shell bra. The Root Pack, (Psycarrot, Moe Tato and Weepy) as they called themselves had sprouted up out of three of the dirt piles with Cagney sprouted from the fourth. "Hiiiiiii." Cuphead yelled, waving towards Grim through the counter windows. The cup had run up and climbed onto the counter to see his friend. Mugman dashed up and pulled his brother off the counter before anyone tried to forcefully remove him and be shot by said brother (Cuphead). Grim nervously waved back before resuming his work. The rest of the evening went pretty smoothly. The local barbershop quartet Shoptimus Prime performed at the place, Hopus Pocus, a crazed rabbit magician performed one magic tricks for the kids, thankfully without his rabbit skull tricks and Cuphead, Mugman and Goopy Le Grande, a small bouncy slime-ball battled again for the crowd. Soon the restaurant closed and Porkrind appeared to congratulate the guests for their entertainment. "Woohoo." Everyone yelled before going home. "Golly that was fun." Mugman said as they left the building. "Yeah I can't wait for our next adventure." Cuphead agreed as they went back to there home.

Authors Note

The cartoons take place in 1933 despite the technology. Basically the story here is the creators of Cuphead came to Inkwell after a storm and brought different human tech like cell phones and wifi and laptops to the island. There the residents used this to there advantage and made a lot of better business for the island. The quartet can sell CD's and records and the fishing fish can see when the weather is good for fishing instead of always guessing. Inkwell is technically forever trapped in 1930's era but will eventually catch up. It's behind 80 years and a fantasy world. But it might update so the cartoons take place in modern times but with a 1930's style. And maybe they will have memes. Don't know right now.

Cuphead Cartoons Intro

It's been a few months since Cuphead and his twin brother Mugman freed everyone form the clutches of The Devil and Inkwell is back to normal. However  news of their parents surfaces and the gang get into crazy adventures and shenanigans in this cartoon series. Debuts on September 29th, 1933.
