your life feels stagnant until you finally log into your blog from 10 years ago and with all of that information in your hands, like a scrapbook, you can look and see how much you’ve developed and moved and haven’t been stagnant at all. I was still in the day-to-day it seemed, but I was slowly moving like a glacier forming a canyon or a drip of water over marble slowly creating a divot. like a sculptor I was freeing the figure from the stone and bringing her to life, and still am.
the real art doesn’t come until you become conscious of the work that you are. once you become conscious, around 24, you realize that all great art, including your life, requires great effort. it requires your lifetime of experiences and a lesson taken from all of them. and the art is never complete, you simply build on it every day to make your magnum opus. whoever said we are works in progress was correct, but you have to hope that the progress never ends. the end of progress and creation of yourself is the end of everything

my writing ability currently feels on par with that of like…. a seven year old. i’m just writing one sentence. then another sentence. subject verb object, dependent clause period. do any of them relate? unclear. that is for god to decide. i certainly can’t.
