#ciclid tangent is so funny#those fuckers are MEAN and RESILIENT#we had some as a kid and they started breeding to the point we were way over stocked#babies figured out how to use our giant pleco to hide from their cannibal parents#then the power went out and everyone died but the pleco and one(1) ciclid#we named him lone survivor and he lived for like god#a good while#the pleco died at 12 i think bc my dads ex wanted to rearrange the tank#he was so not having it he fucked off to the afterlife#i ended up giving survivor to petco bc my dumbass father got rid of the tank b4 rehoming the fish#i was so worried he was getting dropsy#nope!#just fat#they said it was the biggest ciclid they had ever seen#he wasnt like concerningly overweight just chunky#also like a month after the great dying we tried to get a new ciclid#and made sure it was over half the size of survivor so he wouldnt eat it#literally vanished the next day and me and my dad have no fucking clue how that happened and why there were no remains#dunno how he managed to eat her but there was no other explination(lidded tank#also told that story to my coworkers and they thought my dad was spareing my feelings#same man who didnt even tell me when they put my dog down and i had to just ask why he was gone after school#and show me deer heads exploding from headshots#so yeah ciclids are weird fish man they just live ig#fuck or kill#and oddly their agressive nature fits my shitty dad#last anecdote but we had silver dollars i called “lipstick fish” bc their lips were red from the ciclids bullying them#i knew this too its not like i just thought they looked like that#idk why i had to give them a name bc of their wounds but yeah idk#shoutout lone survivor hope petco didnt throw you out once i left and i hope you lived by your name and found a good home#and rip to 20 ciclids 2 silver dollars and big boy(pleco)
