Y'all ever think about the way video game bosses are designed to lose? How the bombastic soundtracks, the impressive displays of villainy, the teeth-rattling power of their attacks, are at once engineered not just to sell you on how unfathomably strong and vile they are, but also to make the player's inevitable victory all the sweeter?
Viewed this way, a boss battle is more like a choreographed dance - they call, you respond and counter-call. The trick is to learn the steps - once you know where to move, when to strike, when to defend and how to best allocate your resources, victory is not just achievable but actually almost impossible to avoid. You cannot help but recite the winning plays, over and again, because that is what the dance demands of you both - and is there not a savage sort of beauty in such a thing?
Is it any wonder then that we look back on these bosses so fondly, almost as if they were old friends? We danced together once, and oh what fun we had while doing it!

Like we have to always remember that a person with health anxiety can get ill, a person with paranoia and psychosis can be in serious danger, a person with social anxiety can get bullied, a person with RSD can get rejected, a person with BPD can get abandoned, a person with depression can have a serious reason to be upset and so on indefinitely. We cannot automatically treat every concern of a person who has been labeled as mentally ill and irrational as if it isn't worth taking seriously and investigating. Making that assumption puts people in real danger.

Still can't get over how this tattoo came out! Poogie couldn't have come out any cuter. I started off with MHFU, so I had to rep what got me into the series. Plus, a lil bonus Trenya!

"unreflections" 16x20" oil on canvas // video id under the cut
video ID: clips of a person painting a landscape on a canvas. lots of bright colors are used and the resulting painting has an overall rainbow color scheme. the landscape is a pond with a bridge over it and a cell tower. as the person paints, text is displayed on the screen that reads:
painting my hallucinations! raw gesso makes the worst sound known to man so it must be destroyed. temperature is important to me in color, so i always do a grisaille with pthalo blue (dark/cool tones) and brunt umber (warm/mid tones). now we get sillayyyy. because i am on the psychotic spectrum, i see rainbows and ripples around everything all the time. i wanted to show what i saw through the lens of my artwork. this is kind of the point where i lost the plot and started chatting with my hallucinations telepathically while painting, but its cool. also, shoutout to my art teacher in high school for teaching me how to mix my own black and grays because paint is expensive. i got bored, so knife time. trees and foilage always look fiery to me. i also see patterns on top of things, like stripes and swirls. here it is! this will be sold at a charity auction for the Art Way San Antonio in collaboration with NAMI San Antonio. end video ID.
