Trial 5 (Trial of Ryouta Shinjiro + Airi Yumomo)

TRIAL START

Monobear: "Well isn’t this an interesting turn of events? Tonight we’ll be doing things differently. Instead of one trial we’ll be having two with the first being for Ryouta Shinjiro. Now, here are the rules for formalities sake:

1. Do not be rude to one another

2. You must all speak politely and give everyone a chance to talk

3. Keep OOC chat to a minimum so as to not lose focus from the trial

4. If someone wishes to fire an evidence bullet then ask. Everyone else MUST be quiet during this time

5. No interrupting or typing of any sort during an mtb UNLESS you are a part of the mtb

6. When a mod says to be quiet then stop typing

7. Ask to post links relating to the trial into the chat

8. Long paragraphs are now forbidden during trials due to them making text continually fly up and are difficult to follow because of the fast paced nature of trials. It is only acceptable when you are doing the climax inference, or if you are the culprit explaining your reasoning

Hotaru arrived late to the trial, sneaking in quietly to make sure she wasn't caught by anybody.

Masato Sakamoto: Alright then. Does anyone have any evidence indicating that the suicide may have been faked?

Masato Sakamoto: If not, this will go quickly enough.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "....Masato-ue... H...How do you know it was a suicide?"

Yui Maki: "Th-There wasn't a note, right? It couldn't have been a suicide. Most people leave some sort of note..."

Masato Sakamoto: Then what was that sheet of paper left floating in the water, hm?

Hotaru started to giggle a little bit at Yui's statement, then gulping from what she had did with the note. "A..Ah, Yui-ue, you're w..wrong, actually. There was a note. B...But, it got drowned by accident..."

Yui Maki: "...Oh..."

Masato Sakamoto: As for the manner of death, if he truly was drowned in that manner, with no signs of a struggle, he must not have made any attempt to avoid drowning.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "It... It seems he was also planning this for a while.. A..As there were plenty more drafts of the note in his room..."

Masato Sakamoto: Were they in his own handwriting?

Hotaru nodded. "They d..did... All of them..."

Yui Maki: "Maybe he was forced to write them!!!! And forced to kill himself!!!!"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "....... Yui-ue, I...I don't believe that would be the case."

Yui Maki: "What makes you say that?" She fidgeted.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "S...Shinjiro-ue cared for Shu-- I.. I mean the dollmaker very much... As well as Masajun-ue... He wanted to b...be with them, I'm sure."

Faye Blanc: "So he killed himself.."

Faye Blanc: "Is that what you're saying?"

Masato Sakamoto: He was smart enough to leave behind some sort of evidence if he had been forced to commit suicide.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "H...His shoes were left by the note... Does t..that count as more information that t..this wasn't forced?"

Analetta Kallop: " 'is shoes?"

Analetta Kallop: "Wha's that got to do with anythin'?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "... Tradition."

Faye Blanc: "Tradition?"

Analetta Kallop shrugs, looking conflicted over the entire ordeal

Yui Maki: "It's a tradition of suicide here."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Mm... If you wish to, Yui-ue..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "N..Nothing seems rather fishy here with his dead, though..."

Analetta Kallop shakes head

Masato Sakamoto: How do you propose we go about determining whether this was coerced?

Faye Blanc: "Just thinking about this makes me feel a little sick.."

Illni Utami: "Well of course we're not going to be in high spirits, we're in a trial which will decide whether we're going to live or die."

Analetta Kallop shrugs defensively

Analetta Kallop: "I'm not down."

Analetta Kallop: "I've never talked to 'im before."

Masato Sakamoto: Ahem. We have important matters to discuss.

Masato Sakamoto: Let's return to them, shall we?

Faye Blanc: "Fine."

Masato Sakamoto: Now, how would someone go about coercing the victim to commit suicide?

Yui Maki: "u-um."

Yui Maki: "I don't know?"

Kyōki Anrui: "Manipulation."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "S...Shinjiro-ue isn't the one to be easily manipulated..."

Masato Sakamoto: Are you certain of that?

Yui Maki: Yui shook her head. "Ryouta was too good to be manipulated!!!"

Illni Utami: "Well, seems pretty obvious."

Hotaru nodded in agreement to Yui, twiddling her fingers against each other again. "S...She's right..."

Masato Sakamoto: The victim was very close to the most recent victim and culprit, wasn't he?

Masato Sakamoto: It seems reasonable to assume he was in distress.

Yui Maki: "Yeah! The reason Doll maker was killed was because Masajun was yandere, right?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Y...Yandere? He was a y...yandere?"

Yui Maki: "Yup! Yandere!"

Faye Blanc: "Is that a dessert?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "N...No..."

Faye Blanc: "It sounds like one..."

Masato Sakamoto: Maki, explain the tropes of romantic manga *after* the trial, please.

Yui Maki: "...Okay"

Masato Sakamoto: Now, if we assume the victim was in such a state, would it be reasonable to assume that he could be coerced into suicide?

Yui Maki: "Maybe?"

Masato Sakamoto: And if so, would it not be reasonable to think of the coercing party as being responsible for his death?

Kyōki Anrui: "Hmm... May we talk about Yumomo-san's death?"

Yui Maki: "No. We're on Ryouta's right now, Kyoki!"

Kyōki Anrui: "It was a suggestion to see if the culprit is the same as the one who apparently coerced Ryouta-san into committing suicide, Maki-san."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "A...Ah! Kyoki-ue has a point!"

Masato Sakamoto: Impossible. Monobear has declared that we are having two seperate trials.

Analetta Kallop: "..."

Analetta Kallop: "Can't we just do one thing a' once..."

Analetta Kallop: "For shit's sake, I can hardly keep up."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "A...Alright..."

Yui Maki: "What Masato said!"

Elyse Brooks: "D-Does it really matter if someone manipulated Ryouta into killing himself? I-I mean...we're just trying to find the person who killed him, not the one who pushed it, right?"

Yui Maki: "I...I guess?"

Masato Sakamoto: Perhaps Monobear would weigh in on the subject of coerced suicide so as to remove the ambiguity.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I..If Masato-ue wants to clear it up more, then... I..I won't mind..."

Monobear: "If you forced someone to commit suicide then it doesn't count as murder because they're still taking their own life so you'd have nothing to gain from it."

Faye Blanc: "Oh."

Masato Sakamoto: Then I suppose we have our answer.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "S...So... Shinjiro-ue suicided, but... There's... T..Truly no use of finding who pushed him, is there?"

Masato Sakamoto: Only a matter of curiosity, then.

Masato Sakamoto: For that matter, as there is apparently no punishment for such a thing, if anyone is responsible for such a thing, feel free to confess.

Elyse Brooks: I don't think anybody pushed him to kill himself, Masato...I-I believe that he did it on his own...

Yui Maki: "..."

Masato Sakamoto: Yes, I imagine so. And I have a guess as to what the true driving force behind it was.

Faye Blanc: "You do?"

Masato Sakamoto: Was he, perhaps, also close to tonight's second victim?

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I...I have no idea, Masato-ue... I a..apologize..."

Faye Blanc: "Well he never came to our room.."

Faye Blanc: "And she never really spoke about him. So it's safe to assume they weren't close."

Yui Maki: "I used to hang out with him but I don't think he ever mentioned Airi."

Elyse Brooks: "M-Maybe he didn't even know of her death when he commited suicide?"

Elyse Brooks: "W-We need to keep the motive in mind, a sacrifice if nobody was killed...plus the boy he loved being killed by his friend? I-I doubt anybody could even consider living after that..."

Faye Blanc: "I don't think the deaths were connected.."

Faye Blanc: "They were definitely separate things."

Masato Sakamoto: Consider the difference in the times of death.

Masato Sakamoto: Is it not possible for him to have seen the body, returned to his room to compose a note, and then kill himself?

Yui Maki: "We have no evidence that he didn't, but I highly doubt it."

Illnii Utami: "But doesn't an announcement only come out after 3 people have seen the body?"

Masato Sakamoto: Excellent point. How many of us had seen Yumomo when the announcement went off?

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I...I went to see after the announcement, actually... W..Walking down those steps isn't easy."

Faye Blanc: "I was wondering where she was.. so.."

Analetta Kallop hisses

Analetta Kallop: "Never saw it."

Yui Maki: "...Did anyone read the note he left? What did it say?" Says the girl who read the note first.

Illnii Utami: "No, I had been more focused on Airi."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "........"

Faye Blanc: Is onto you suspiciously quiet people

Masato Sakamoto: Well, who was it that mentioned that the note was lost during investigation specifically?

Masato Sakamoto: After all, only the one who dropped it could have known that.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "...? Mm? I...I don't know anything..."

Faye Blanc: "Are you sure..?"

Masato Sakamoto: We are still discussing the note left by this trial's victim.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Y...A...Alright... I..I accidentally dropped the note into the water, yes..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "L..Let me just..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: Hotaru cleared her throat for a moment, remembering what the note entirely said. "I'm s...so sorry to whoever finds me. No one touched me. I did this. I thought for years about this, and I'm okay with my choice... Af..After the death of the dollmaker, and Masajun, a...and all this trauma... I would've had nothing... I...I have no home at this point, I..I have no family on speaking terms... a..and I'm sorry again. Please stay safe, a...all of you... D...Don't die here. Y..You guys were my closest family, thank you. Pl...Please don't mourn me, okay?" Hotaru gulped.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "H..He said nobody touched him... So..."

Yui Maki: "So he did do this himself?" Dammit Yui yOU READ THE NOTE BEFORE HER

Masato Sakamoto: Does that at all contradict with the unused drafts?

Chinatsu Hotaru: "No... Not at all... H..He just touched up on them, mostly... A..Adding more words..."

Masato Sakamoto: Then I suppose we can accept that. Have we reached our conclusion?

Analetta Kallop: "Ah...so he rilly did it to himself then...?"

Analetta Kallop laughs shakily

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Indeed...."

Analetta Kallop: "I can't imagine anyone doin' that t'themselves."

says the girl who asked a serial killer to kill her

Masato Sakamoto: Then we may as well begin our vote, if no one objects.

Yui Maki: "Uhhh. So I think??? This is how it went down maybe? Ryouta figured he couldn't live since he had nowhere to go after getting out of the school. His two friends were dead and there wasn't anything left for him.

So, he wrote his note, it took a couple tries though, took off to the pool, and prepared his death. He removed his shoes and glasses, then set them beside his note. Ryouta then jumped in the pool fully clothed and didn't try holding his breath, causing him to start drowning.

Then I found him hours later floating in the pool."

Analetta Kallop: "..."

Analetta Kallop: " 'S all rather tragic..."

Analetta Kallop: Analetta Kallop glares around the group

Analetta Kallop: "You all did this."

Faye Blanc: "W-What?"

Yui Maki: "W-What?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Ah! We all did this then, Analetta-ue? But aren't YOU apart of this group? That also means you are with us on this then..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "O...Or would you rather betray the people who are h...h-helping you out of all of this? Or at least trying?"

Analetta Kallop: "Y' all murderers too. As well as me. Why bother with this? We all jus' wanna survive a few more days just t' murder someone else."

Masato Sakamoto: Ignore her. She has been emotionally unstable since Conlon's death, and will only serve to distract us.

Yui Maki: "That wasn't nice Masato!"

Giving a huff, Hotaru nodded at Masato in agreement before turning back down to her podium. "W..Well then, we have our answer for Shinjiro-ue's death, s...should we put our votes in?"

Faye Blanc: "Yeah.."

Masato Sakamoto: Masato Sakamoto nods.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I...I'm sorry, Shinjiro-ue, th...that you truly felt alone at your last breath." Hotaru hung her head in slight dejection from all of this

Monobear: "Alright you bastards shut up!"

Monobear: "Now that we're done with our first trial and you've confirmed that Ryouta Shinjiro's death is a suicide we can begin the trial for Airi Yumomo. NOW you can talk about her you bastards."

Analetta Kallop: Analetta Kallop whispers to Masato

Analetta Kallop: "Yanno, you remind me of my favorite artist."

Analetta Kallop: "Vincent Van Gogh fuck yourself."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "A...Ah.. Right. F...First, those knives used on Airi-ue..."

Analetta stiffens, then points at Chinatsu accusingly

Analetta Kallop: "Mm, yeah. Th' ones you two STOLE from me!"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "......"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Analetta-ue, are you saying these are your knives?"

Analetta Kallop: "Wha? No. Tha's why I wanted them back so badly."

Analetta squints at Chinatsu

Chinatsu Hotaru: "... I almost forgot about t..the one you gave me, it's at your d..dorm now."

Analetta Kallop: "A'course they are."

Masato Sakamoto: At least, no more than any of the rest of you.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "M...Me neither, I just had to clear that up..."

Faye Blanc: "... I see."

Monobear eats pop corn while watching

Yui Maki: "Someone could've stolen her knives?"

Analetta physically restrains herself from strangling Hotaru

Masato Sakamoto: Not dry? After remaining there all night?

Faye Blanc: "That's weird.."

Yui Maki: "Maybe the culprit came back before everyone and stabbed her some more to make sure she was dead?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: Hotaru shrugged lightly. "I...It wasn't that dry, really... There wa..wasn't much blood on it to begin with. It did stain the inside of my pocket though..."

Analetta Kallop has suddenly turned rather pale

Analetta Kallop: "....Moving...on."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "...Phobia of blood I presume, Analetta-ue..?"

Analetta laughs shortly

"I've seen a coupla deaths here, so no."

Faye Blanc: How did she survive so far if she is afraid of blood.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Ah..."

Analetta Kallop: "But...something along those lines."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "W...Who would be specialized in using knives a..and stealing them so well though.."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "If... If they were stolen, I mean."

Analetta Kallop frowns

Masato Sakamoto: One of them was, at least.

Faye quickly looks away.

Masato Sakamoto: Hotaru and myself were in possession of the knives, both of which were used to kill the victim.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "S..So they were both stolen at first?"

Masato Sakamoto: Not necessarily.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "....I did doze away in the infirmary actually if I remember..."

Masato Sakamoto: We must consider the possibility that one of us is responsible, meaning only one of them would have been stolen.

Analetta Kallop: "Or both."

Analetta Kallop: "M'be ya both tried t'frame me."

Analetta Kallop: "Y' had ample motive, non?"

Faye Blanc: "Why would two people frame you?"

Masato Sakamoto: That would be a terrible idea.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "N...Not really, I w...wouldn't frame somebody, in all t..truth..."

Masato Sakamoto: Why would I involve an accomplice if only one of us could leave as a result?

Masato Sakamoto: It's an unnecessary complication.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "You...You've done nothing wrong to me, Analetta-ue... A...And I appreciate that, f...for being kind. You never notice that, do you.."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Ah... I'm off topic again..."

Analetta Kallop: "Wha'ever."

Masato Sakamoto: I will not insist my innocence on moral or ethical grounds, if only because such excuses provide no evidence.

Hotaru pointed behind her, at Monobear. "H..He did, actually."

Analetta again has to physically restrain herself from strangling Hotaru

Chinatsu Hotaru: "... I see."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "B..Back to my theory... Who would b..be able to steal something so easily if one or both knives were stolen?"

Yui Maki shrugs

Faye Blanc: "I don't know.."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I...It's alright, Faye-ue, if you don't know."

Masato Sakamoto: First, we will have to consider the locations of the knives. Mine was left in my room.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "M..Mine was in my pocket this whole time..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "M..Masato-ue, who is your roommate?"

Masato Sakamoto: Cooper. Deceased.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "M...My roommate is also dead. Juvia-ue."

Analetta Kallop: "Suspicious."

Analetta Kallop flips hair

Analetta Kallop: "I'd like t'remind all present tha' MY roommate is still alive."

Faye Blanc: "Mine was murdered."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "A...Ah! Who was your roommate, Analetta-ue...?"

Faye Blanc: Stares at Analetta.

Masato Sakamoto: Ahem. This is off topic.

Faye Blanc: "Not to my knowledge.."

Yui Maki: "I don't think we have one?"

Masato Sakamoto: Yes. We've established that my roommate is dead, and your knife was brought out in the open regularly.

Masato Sakamoto: Therefore, the thief was only required to have entered my room.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "...I.. I haven't talked to anybody, nor have.. I really interacted with anybody ever since I acquired it.."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Ah! Masato-ue, do.. do you perhaps know how long your knife has been missing?"

Masato Sakamoto: I'm afraid not. I had placed it in a drawer, which I hadn't checked until after the body was found.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "It... Might of been stolen while w..we were investigating Shun-ue's body, w..when all of the dorms were open."

Masato Sakamoto: No.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "So... There is a possibility the m..murder-- Eh?"

Masato Sakamoto: I obtained the knife during that trial.

Masato Sakamoto: If you recall, Kallop attempted to threaten me with it.

Masato Sakamoto: At that moment I felt it prudent to relieve her of it.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "... Monobear... H..How long are the dorms open after the trials?"

Yui Maki starts to doze off

Monobear: "Dorm locks instantly activate as soon as the execution ends."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "Mm..."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "....."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "..................."

Monobear: "Your silence is amazing now say something or else."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "................................."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "...Right then."

Chinatsu Hotaru: "That clears... That possibility then... O..Or does it?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "M...Masato-ue, have you let anybody into your dorm?"

Masato Sakamoto: Not within the timeframe the knife was hidden there.

Masato Sakamoto: Before obtaining the knife, Mutilator was in my room for a short time.

Masato Sakamoto: No one since.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "I..I see.. But... Both of our knives are gone now, right?"

Masato Sakamoto: Indeed.

Chinatsu Hotaru: "...Spooky."

Analetta Kallop grins

Masato Sakamoto: I've been searching as best I can, but there is not a single piece of evidence of my own innocence.

Yui Maki: "Masato have you gotten on anyone's bad side?"

Chinatsu Hotaru: "T..The two knives... They were left behind..."

Masato Sakamoto: ...Maki, were you paying attention when I was assaulted mere moments ago?

Yui Maki: "No."

Hotaru frowned just a bit.

Masato Sakamoto: I've clearly made at least one enemy in Kallop. Whether she held a grudge against Yumomo as well, I couldn't say.

"Airi and Analetta had this sort of half-friendship going on after the third trial. Airi gave Analetta her knife back, right after convicting Xander of murder and having him executed, so Analetta wasn't really sure how to feel about her. She said so a few times, out loud! Anyways, I think that their relationship swung back and forth a bit, mostly on Ms. Kallop's part, until she finally became too emotionally unstable and snapped. Maybe they were in the library, talking or something, and Airi said the wrong thing at the wrong time? To be fair, though, that really wouldn't...take much at this point...Ah, b-but that's not important! W-what is important is that she went all....all Super Saiyan on Airi and probably just beat her up until she died, or close. I guess she used the knives as an afterthought, since those wounds look sort of rushed. I dunno, maybe she wanted to leave something to implicate herself o-or frame the two people she hated most that were still alive. As much as I hate to say it...Analetta Kallop is the one who killed Airi Yumomo in a fit of rage...s-she is the culprit we're looking for..."

Analetta Kallop abruptly starts to cry again
