Because sometimes self-love means showing the parts of you that tremble. And sometimes it means letting someone -like Damon Baker- frame those parts in just the right light. And maybe, just maybe, it doesn’t hurt to look good under the shadows of a portrait light.

It's definitely interesting to me how some people are reacting to this shoot and the nudity. I do wonder if it's because this is a rare case of a man being shot in the male gaze, when the male gaze is more often applied to women's bodies in media. More importantly it's a queer male gaze (the butt shots, the gum,) which is even rarer. Note that I'm *not* saying that if someone doesn't like the shoot that they're homophobic--some people just don't find this kind of content/art interesting and that's ok! Art is subjective after all. But it's interesting to examine from a content analysis standpoint the questions of "what does the creator of the art want the audience to feel when they look at the art?", "how do I feel when I look at the art? Is it the same as what the creator wanted me to feel?", and most importantly "WHY do I feel what I feel when I look at the art?"

Because art is an exploration of the human condition--it's a human being holding up a projection that's also a mirror and you see what another human is showing you but also a reflection of what you want to see within. And this is why AI can never create actual art. Thanks for coming to my TED talk /rant over
