jazz club by maison martin margiela: people love this one. now it DOES have tobacco, smoke, and rum notes to it, so it might be a little much, but it's also just really fun.

gentleman society by givenchy - vanilla that's balanced out by cardamom, vetiver, and wood

eros by versace - vanilla and mint. but also:

fat electrician by etat libre d'orange - yes it's vetiver and electric smells. but it also has whipped cream and chestnuts. very interesting

eau de space was commissioned by nasa to acclimate astronauts to the smell of the ISS. it turns out that astronauts need to be acclimated to the smell of the ISS because it smells horrible

baked goods are my favorite smells <3 i have always been on the hunt for photorealistic baked goods...

cheirosa '71 by sol de janeiro - fairly cheap, easily available, and one of my all-time favorites. it has a yummy caramel and vanilla scent. the popcorn & macadamia notes, to me, make it smell like something that's been toasted, like when you have something yummy in the oven and your whole house smells like it

lira by xerjoff - lemon cake! it's a little more sophisticated than a lot of other gourmands IMO.

lait de biscuit by chabaud maison de parfum - this one sounds promising. yummy vanilla wafer cookies.

delizia di marshmallow by kyse perfumes - technically not baked goods, but in a similar vein. this is theeeeee gold standard of marshmallow perfumes. this entire brand seems to do very favorable gourmands

chocolate greedy by montale - this one comes up every single time anyone talks about chocolate fragrances, though i have yet to try it myself. it sounds promising... a lot of chocolate fragrances, to me, smell like cocoa powder instead of actual chocolate, so the idea of one that smells like real deal chocolate dessert is verrry interesting to me

BLUE BACKGROUND = NEW

i redrew an old piece of Euphoria from 2022. Euphoria is my tiefling warlock D&D character that i haven't used yet. he means a lot to me, and I've drawn him many times over the years. I've also posted a clay sculpture of him here!

I'm very happy with my progress - even if it seems less detailed than the older drawing. the style feels more natural, the process felt more intuitive, the drawing itself is more colorful and expressive, etc.

the anatomy itself is also much better, even though i used references much more heavily in the past. the arms and fawn legs are DEFINITELY much more improved. i do prefer the hands and antlers of the older piece, though. maybe I'll come back to this one and adjust some things later on?

redrawing this piece helped me feel a lot more confident in my art. I've been feeling kind of stuck lately, trying to figure out a style that works better for me than my old one, and ended up leaning too far from it i think. I've tried lineless, painterly, sketch-like...

however, i think the dynamic lines really felt nice to draw with, and felt the most like my style. I'm also going to try taking more inspiration from comic books - cell shading, bright colors, exaggerated poses, clear facial expressions - and i think that will help upgrade my style a ton!

anyway, here's the sketch i used for this drawing, as well as my page of references. i didn't end up using the color palette ones as much, but i think it turned out okay

Have a read through Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud, extremely great book talking about the medium of comics, it's long but my god is it good. I think chapter 4 is particularly useful for ppl w/o a lot of comic experience.

Remember that comics are not storyboards for tv/film, they do things way cooler than that (see tip #2) 😎

Read lots of comics!! i consumed manga in my teens at an unholy pace + learnt a lot unconsciously while doing so. (I read a lot less now unfortunately and maybe manage a graphic novel every 6 months)

JUST DO IT, DONT THINK, JUST MAKE COMICS, THEY MIGHT BE BAD OR A LITTLE UNCREATIVE AT FIRST AND THAT'S GREAT BC YOU MADE A COMIC AND YOU ONLY GET BETTER WITH PRACTICE, JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

sorry if i'm gonna be quiet for a while. my country recently introduced laws that make it so that in order to use social media to the fullest (not being able to view ns/fw content and in a few cases, not even having access to dms), i HAVE to give the sites my id/face scan.

it goes into effect july 25th. it'll probably effect here too, since this place allows mature content (tho not full on ns/fw)

i'm very distressed about it bc i might end up not even being able to talk to my internet friends. i don't really have any irl ones

if i have to disappear on most socials by then, you know why.

I'm on vacation, but i drew this on my phone over the past couple days when i had spare time!

very happy with how Luigi came out especially, and most of Bowser, though i didn't really know how do draw his face at that angle. i haven't drawn either of them much, so I'm still learning.

there's a few things i could tweak to make it "perfect", but again, i just did this in my spare time, so oh well.

A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.

I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.

All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."

But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.

It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.

i think everyone should program at least once just so you realise just how fucking stupid computers are. because theyre so fucking stupid. a computer wants to be told what to do and exactly that and if you make one typo or forget one detail it starts crying uncontrollably

I'll come back to this at some point and adjust the colors to be a little more balanced, but for now I'm happy with it! I'm especially happy with the hair, because I've been struggling to find a way of drawing it that feels right for my style

i feel like i was much more confident with my art a couple years ago, and had a more consistent style

I've tried using some of the techniques ive used in the past again, but i feel like either my style or the way i view my art has changed

it doesn't click the same

for the rest of the summer, i plan to go back to basics and do a lot of life studies, especially for human anatomy. I've definitely lost a bit of my mental library, so i want to try to build it back up. I'm hoping that'll help me feel more confident in stylization

that being said, i do feel better about the way i draw faces - particularly noses and mouths. those were always a struggle point for me, and I've improved a ton on making them feel 3-dimensional and natural at the same time.

another goal of mine is to work on diversifying my subject matter. i do draw people of color, but as a very white person in a very white area, it's not within my comfort zone. however, my favorite part about humanity is how different we all are, and i would love to confidently represent that with my art

that is just part of my overarching goal of drawing PEOPLE with the same beauty i see in them. skin tone variation, limb shape and length, hair texture and style (on the head AND body), facial expressions, tattoos and piercings, etc

i love every bit, and want to draw it all
