Hi, hope you have a great time! I'm here for advice, if that's okay. Any idea how to get rid of Puck in a story? I don't like both him and Mark so I tend to avoid stories focusing on him but I'm not sure how to write him off in my story. Killing him off seems weird. Sending him away? Making him move out or something? What do you prefer to do with him (not that he appears much in your stories but still). Thanks in advance!
I just don’t write him in! Honestly I forget that he’s a character. Bc same, I can’t stomach the actor portraying him and so I don’t want to give Puck any “screen time” either. Plus, Puck was a pretty awful character too.
So that’s my take. Just don’t mention him ever and it’s like he wasn’t even there 😉

Thanks for answering! I completely realise that writing is different from real life parenting so hope you don’t think it was any kind of insult 😂 I love your writing and always hoping for more! *wink wink*
😅 no worries. I just had to cover my bases bc it would not be the first time someone has taken it to mean I actually condone corporal punishment for real life children just bc I happen to write dfic. I don’t and it’s fiction.
But, I was thinking about your question more and I think, if anything, after becoming a parent has made me write Shelby as more understanding. I think I tended to write her parenting as more black and white before (plus I was 22/23 when I first started publishing my stories and now I’m nearly 35). My perspective has changed over the years and real life has gray areas. Nothing is ever simple, and that’s so true about raising children.
I think I write my Shelbys as more imperfect now too. In whatever scenario I write her, she doesn’t have all the answers. She makes mistakes (sometimes BIG ones). She’s never afraid to apologize, which is important. And through it all, she’s there for her kid(s) and is learning right along with them.

I’ve been reading some of your past stories and was just wondering whether you think your approach to writing parenting has changed at all since you became a parent? Just curious
That’s a good question. I’m not entirely sure. I don’t parent my real child like what I write, so I don’t think how I write Shelby has been influenced by that. If I write her differently now, I think it’s more because I’ve grown as a writer.

Hi! How's life? Hope the kiddo is doing okay and you have time to relax and maybe write :)
Hi! Life is going ok. Definitely busy right now. Kiddo is doing well! I'm currently in a bit of a "I wrote so much recently and now my brain is all, 'What is words'' phase. I'm trying to work on the second chapter of Motherly Attentions, though...

Do you read fanfic too or mostly write?
I definitely read a bunch of fanfic as well as writing. I've got a bunch of my favorites bookmarked on AO3.

Oh, I love your Quinn stories. It's something fresh! I do hope you update soon. Your one shots are amazing, but the character development in your full stories can't be beaten. Patiently waiting for your next multi chapter series. And another installment of Motherly Attentions! :)
A new story in the Daughters series is coming out in March for the Discord Dfic Month challenge! My friend told me I should space the chapters out (there will be 4), but we'll see. I'm like Rachel Berry...

Quinn is not really my cup of tea, so I'll patiently wait for Rachel stories if that's okay :) Glad you were able to write something at all, though!
That's fair!
I'll try to get more Shelby/Rachel centric fics out soon. I have plenty, it's just getting my muse to cooperate that's the problem.

Hi! Any progress with the story about Cassie and Rachel? :) Sorry if that's rude to ask I'm just curious as I'm excited for this idea but I know that writing takes time
Sorry for the delay in replying to this. Life has been crazy. And no, I haven't gotten anything else for that one yet. I've got another story in the Daughters series coming out in March for the Dfic Discord's March challenge. So far it's 3 chapters. Possibly a 4th. Still revolving around Quinn (I know some aren't too keen on that, but this is where my muse is at right now).

have you ever thought of writing a fic for the hunger games?
I haven’t, no. That’s not one of the fandoms I’m interested in at this point in my life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you thought of writing a one-short with Laura Ingalls after the cinnamon chicken scene?
Well I’m thinking about it NOW! 😆

Got it. Similar to Hermione being the eldest of her yearmates (from those we know the birthday) since she's from September 19th and you need to be 11 up to 31st August to go "with your class" then you wait a year (I guess that's in all GB). In my country children who were born 1st January and December 31 of the same year attend the classes together. Not that the one born December 31 is a year behind (though, techncially, there's a literal year between them)
Right. That’s how I grew up, with the same birth year going together regardless of when their bday is. So yes, there could be a year between some kids.

I always liked that she was the youngest in canon, that was so her to be "the baby" and yet the loudest (miss you, Rachel </3) so it's going to be something different. But I'm curious - do you really can keep your child from going to school? I can't recall something being legal in my country, but then again homeschooling is rather unheard of and I think only some child starts are homeschooled (singers, actors have on set teachers).
So when I went to school (I’m 34), you just had to be 5 by Dec 31st in kindergarten. I’ve moved states and have a child of my own now. In her case, all kids had to turn 5 by Sept 30th. Otherwise they wait a year to start school. So my daughter’s birthday is late spring which when I grew up would make her one of the middle to older kids. But with a bunch of kids with those end of the year birthdays having to wait another school year to start, my kiddo is always one of the youngest in her class.

Omg, this is gonna be amazing! It's only two paragraphs long so far but I already love it! This is so freaking cool! "In TroubleTM" is hilarious and I love it, haha. Seventh-grader is like 12/13, right?
Yeah, I have her as just turned 13 and in 7th grade. My thought is in this universe she was kept out of school until she was 5 going on 6 so she’s one of the older kids in class, rather than youngest. Just to change it up!
