⇝ BACKGROUND ⇜

buffy had a fairly sterotypical l.a. childhood. she had loving parents who argued a little too much behind closed doors, an annoying younger sister to bug her, and clothes to shop for at the local mall. all in all, she was a carefree, loveable ( somewhat superficial ) valley girl. at least, until the dreams started.

she began having weird dreams during her high school years, dreams of girls fighting monsters through the different ages. this was finally explained to her when merrick arrived to inform her that she was a 'slayer' and was supposed to fight vampires and other things that went bump in the night.

things kinda went to shit after that. her watcher died, she was asked politely to leave that school ( they could never actually prove that she was responsible for the damage ) and she & her mother moved to sunnydale for a new chance at being a normal girl. funny how that never seemed to work out for her.

shortly after arriving, things went even more south for her. she found out about a prophesy that involved her dying which wasn't exactly what she wanted to hear while trying to figure out how to survive as the new girl at school. along the way, she made some new friends, got a new watcher, had some great times, died a little bit, closed the hellmouth. you know, all the normal things she wanted to do with her life.

things were a bit rocky for her after the whole dying and coming back to life thing. although she put on a brave face and acted like she was totally fine, buffy always wondered if it was all really worth it. all the effort her friends put in to resurrect her when she was happy and had finally found peace, just to come back to hell on earth. it wasn't long after that she was turned into a vampire. and being at the hellmouth, her humanity was turned off. she still feels like she has to make up for what she did during the years following. but she did regain her soul, leading her to a sort of existential crisis. who was she if she wasn't the slayer anymore? and how could she make up for all the pain she caused?

the spell that sent people back in time came as a bit of a surprise, but she knows that she can help. she isn't entirely sure if trapping everyone was for the best, but buffy is going to make the best of a bad situation. after all, she's got her friends and family back. a second chance to right her wrongs. and she'll be damned before she wastes it.
