they should invent a bus that never gets stuck in traffic because it's on its own path separated from the roads. and then chain multiple of them together and put it on rails. has anyone had this idea before.

“Nobody’s going to want to sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours to get from New York City to LA.”
Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.
#the fact that i could drive for 15 hours and STILL BE IN TEXAS depending on where i start#or that some international flights can be over 15 hours#and yet people will make it sound like taking a 15 hour train ride is a waste of time or that no one will do it#high speed rail would be so incredibly useful for so many different reasons it obviously deserves it’s own post#trains#high speed rail#transportation infrastructure

Seeing the Amtrak at EBJ Union Station is like seeing a celebrity in the wild to me. Love seeing all the trains that pass through here but the Amtrak holds a special place in my heart

If it’s just the trains and streetcar I’d say we’re lawful evil but the second the bus and golink zones are added STRAIGHT to chaotic evil we go.

Listen all im saying is that if staying on your phone 24/7 is so necessary for you to function stop driving and start taking the bus. Less accidents that way.

I feel mildly insulted but understand why lol. Light rail defiantly has its down sides but it’s definitely a start for many cities and 100% better than nothing. I find it works well for some parts of DFW but others need different solutions. Just depends on the area I think
I dianose your city with bad infrastructure, I proscribe taking 5 new lightrail lines and 7 road redesigns of major stroads and thoroughfares to help alleviate this

My only critique is that there should be short walls between the bike lanes, sidewalks and roads, for safety. Also clearly marked crosswalks at every intersection; tho obviously the small drawing here is only a chunk of the big picture.
My ideal street layout, wide sidewalk, wide bike lanes, and a 2 lane road that only allows streetcars on it. Yes I know this a bad drawing, I made it in a hurry

We also have plenty of options other than coal to MAKE electricity with for things like light rails, lighting, ect, but the rich oil, coal, and other fossil fuel executives and companies will spend thousands to create propaganda telling you otherwise.
Coal is a parasitic disease that destroyed and killed everything it touched. It is a curse and every last rock of it mined leaves another man dead. There is no clean coal, there is no safe coal mining. When it's burned it emits radiation upon the rivers, when it's mined it turns the sky black and then tears up the earth in an ever more desperate search for more of it. Coal is a poison, not a blessing, every coal town is hell for its people, the coal companies care not for human life, only for profit. It's the dirtiest material to mine and yet we continue to mine it in ever more desperate moves to not hurt the coal companies that hurt us

Like yes we have trains running to it and stuff but like idk I prefer Love Field whenever possible if I absolutely have to fly within the US. no choice if its international. DFW airport is literally larger than the island of Manhattan, its the second largest airport behind Denver international, one of the largest in the world, it has its own fucking zip code its just so big why does it need to be so big they're EXPANDING it WHY
