I presently don’t have the articulation to correctly express what it feels like to close a chapter on a story that is told in a cumulative capacity with friends. But man, it really scratches an itch for me. Learned some things, healed some things, and came out of this journey feeling inspired and refreshed.

Made some icon vignettes for the characters who took part in this tale, might make more art for the whole thing later on down the road. For now though, I’m gonna put the spreadsheets and near-100 page doc on this adventure down, and go play another friend’s game.

Paths crossed in 2024. 🚎

One day, I’ll actually figure out how to properly document this accordion sketchbook… but for now, here’s a look at the 8 pages of quick portraits I’ve accumulated over the past year alone. (A contrast to the single page managed in 2023!)

Currently at the drawing board for something I can’t show yet, but in the spirit of self-reflection during the end of the year, here’s a quick shot of the progress made for 2024 in my accordion sketchbook. I’ll take some of my favorites and focus in for detail later on, but it’s been so gratifying to see the difference between this year and the handful of faces drawn in 2023 (swipe to the second picture).

This sketchbook’s been one heck of an anchor point for me to hold onto. Especially these past few years. Unexpected, but unsurprising. I suppose that’s how habits are, once they become as such.

Good drawings, bad drawings—they all go in there, and each and every one is another step I look forward to.

That last week of the month always sneaks up right behind me… but here we are again.

When I finish the first half of this sketchbook (still a bit to go, but nearly there!), I’ll do a side-by-side comparison of the previous years. For now, I’ll say that I’m left with a good impression at how much more I’ve been able to put into this little project. Aiming to have learned as much in kind as well. We’ll see😅

Having unintentionally set a bar of completing one page per month has really helped me with moving forward through slower weeks, and it’s been all the more gratifying to have weeks like this, where there are a few more chances to draw some folks.

Weird, it’s like setting goals is constructive 🤪

Posting the page update for July a week early! I’m going to be a shut-in next week to work on something exciting that, naturally, I can’t talk about yet. Still might post a page from years past when I was in NYC, but we’ll return with new faces come August.
