A pointless thread in which I rate the TLT international covers:
Quick preface, I looked all of these up by typing in “the lightning thief [insert country] cover” so please correct me if I give the wrong information!

UK cover: 4/10
I’m scared I’m going to offend people but uhhh… it’s kinda ugly💀 Like, it’s all drawn well and the composition is fine, but it’s just so boring. It looks like your typical children’s book.

Japanese cover: 8/10
Um this looks so freaking cool. If you’ve read my previous reviews, you’ll know that I love when children’s book covers are a bit grittier and intense. I love this one for that exact reason. The shadows are so dramatic and just the style in general is fantastic.

Spanish cover: 4/10
I feel the same about this one as I do about the UK cover. It’s alright, kinda boring, nothing spectacular. Although I will say the color scheme is nice and I like the NYC skyline at the top.

German cover: 2/10
IS THIS REAL??? This is both the greatest and the worst thing I have ever seen. Like,, I guess it’s accurate to the series?? The Minotaur is canonically wearing underwear, but I kinda imagined him um… covered with fur. The way Percy looks like he’s just chilling up there😭😭 PLEASE. Sorry for the 2/10 rating. In my heart it’s a 10/10.

Korean cover: 9/10
This one is so cool!!! The art style, the composition, the color scheme! I love the contrast between the stylized minotaur in the foreground and the classic Greek architecture in the background. The only thing I wish it had was the trio somewhere on the cover!

i haven't seen any posts about this going around on tumblr yet, and i know theres a lot going on around the world but this is an issue that needs (and has always needed) more coverage tbqh.
Kylie Jenner has recently been under fire for her clothing line in collaboration with Kendall Jenner, Kendall + Kylie, refusing to pay Bangladeshi apparel workers making their products. the company is owned by Global Brands Group, which has decided not to pay the workers due to the lack of sales during the pandemic. people started speaking up about the payment issue on Kylie's instagram, but instead of a proper response comments were being deleted and eventually limited.
however, the issue doesn't begin and end with Kendall + Kylie, the treatment of factory workers in Bangladesh is a problem with a long overdue response. most of these people are women working in gruelling conditions, being paid in dust and recieving little to no benefits. their lives are seen as disposable. during the quarantine, factories continued production but laid off a quarter of the workforce while the rest still face the threat of wage cuts and lack of access to healthcare.
all the fast fashion we consume like Gap, Primark, Forever 21 and C&A comes at the cost of labour exploitation in developing countries like Bangladesh. this is the country where the main source of income is textiles, where the 2013 Rana Plaza incident killed 1,100 factory workers alone, where workers constantly protest for better salaries and safer conditions, and yet they recieve not even an ounce of dignity for their hard labour. change needs to happen, better sooner than later. will reblog with what you can do to help (since tumblr hates posts with links).

Aaaaaand THIS is how our princesses show up. Excited to share this black princess series which was a personal project orchestrated by Hair by LaChanda. The mission was to redefine and reimagine the traditional princess with our own dash of style, culture and swag. 🥰❤️ Thanks to all of the models and vendors who helped bring this project together. — mochipeachi doodle.
i’m planning on opening a local online shop soon! and if it’s not obvious it’s going to be named “mochipeachi”—no particular reason, it just sounds cute. here are some doodles i made for its logo and if anyone sees this, please help me decide? ♡

I've been working so hard recently as I want to change my career path. It's taken me a long time to accept but I don't think I'd be happy in Earth Sciences or politics as a career. I was always good at geography and geology so that's how I ended up in my degree. I do truly enjoy it, but as an interest and a hobby, just not as a career.
After lots of investigation and internal reflection, I decided that I would go for my childhood dream. To be a doctor.
I always thought that I wasn't good enough to be one, not clever enough and not cool enough. But with hard work, you can do anything you put your mind to. I've been studying upwards of 7 hours everyday. Chemistry, biology and mathematics.
I'm determined to get there.
I really hope I do...

Warm strawberry latte (with coffee shot included!) and Spanish grammar on a gloomy and chilly spring day.
Not sure if that is coconut milk or Spanish prepositions, that don’t sit well in my stomach.
