"this website uses cookies" fucking why. i wish we hadn't named it that, so cheap and unthreatening. a cookie can be anything from a single data point to actively tracking your usage throughout websites. and if you try to research it, you overwhelmingly get (ad-placed) cheery and chipper responses that "cookies are useful data tools that help websites to help you!"
one article suggests cookies allow for "more personalized websites." i do not want them to know how to personalize their website for me. what they really mean is "make this website better for advertisers." they are not going to turn the website a nice shade of my favorite color. they are going to put ads up they think i like. so it's not for me.
okay sure. it makes shopping easier! okay, great. spend money more! happy advertiser. but then why the fuck when you google how long cooked chicken good for are they skimming your data. why when you google can my dog eat tomatoes are they skimming your data. why does mixing bleach and vinegar bad? require someone skimming your data.
so now you slog through AI responses because sometimes the AI tells you no worries! cooked chicken can never go bad and all dogs go to heaven. something about this feels like being 13 before google was really-a-thing when you had to be kind of clever about how you used Ask Jeeves. what is even the point anymore. half of these sites are not written with human hands anymore. we are creating an infinite digital graveyard in order to give advertisers more space, more billboards.
you have to find the first reputable-looking site in a list of GORP.COM/HEALTH. and when you click the first thing it says is can i skim your data? and meanwhile yes bleach and vinegar bad, you've made chlorine gas.
and meanwhile! yes! the infinite digital graveyard. the internet turned into a true highway: devoid of life. endless paved monotony. the exit sign blinking - this website uses cookies.

We are what is
How does anyone find anything in themselves but numb rage and disgust at the world?
The rat chase
Hellscape
Pre-apocalyptic heap
Of highly volatile animalism
And cheap commodity
All which burns, ferments, foments
So so easily
The end is inevitable
What rises will dictate a hundred years
A thousand
Or only 20
Or 10
Or 8
Or 4
No.
Not 4
Nor 8
Nor 20
Maybe 40
Maybe 90
Maybe millennia
Maybe until the end of all we know
Maybe we have a chance to define
Some culture some practice for reflection
That we may always navigate change more smoothly
Or at least, devise a system that forces us to examine ourselves
Before we can place those moods and beliefs upon others
What we need are not laws
Not rigid leaders
With rigid systems
Not prisons
Not enforcement of some
Abstract belief guided by anything
Other than community
Community of self
And community of all
That’s it
No city
No country
No region
No matter anything else
Self
And all
All others. All things.
All is the only other community that matters
Maybe then we can heal ourselves
And learn to sit with challenge
And strife
And pain
So that we may all know what we are working to minimize for all
While also knowing that some amount is inevitable
Not always necessary, but inevitable all the same
What is necessary to sustain
Can be decided by ourselves
To some degree
Though never as much as we’d like
That’s the inherent evil of life
It’s not evil at all
It’s a guide for learning if only
If only we would all see that
Otherwise it’s just a source of pain
And angst and suffering
And death
We find find a level of collective discomfort
Collective discomfort with the wrong things
With class
With echelons of society
With arbitrary differentiations
So we find collective comfort
Collective comfort
Collective comfort in community
At any scale
Collective ability to communicate
Collective wellbeing as the first and highest directive
But not to rule all
Only ever to guide
Life is complex
But complex can never
Never be a guise against intelligence
Complex must be the reason we learn always
At some rate without going backwards
Hopefully
Not like now
Or maybe now was inevitable too
Maybe now is a fixed point
A canon event
The only path
Maybe
But how we emerge is still up to us
To everyone
To the dismantling of the structures that choke
Collective community of all
In favor of few
We must all aspire to all
Not everything but everyone
Everyone
We are all everything
And that’s it
All of us
All of us
All of us
