Currently Reading: SMUT! *snort* I used to care a lot about what I read, trying to stick to 'good literature' and the classics and all, but I'm now at a stage of my life where I stoped giving a f*ck and now I read what the hell I feel like. Judgment be damned. So I'm going through the ACOTAR series, devouring them like a madwoman. I have Edgar Allan Poe's short stories giving me the stink eye from my nightstand, and I might use him as a palate cleanser after!

Last Song: Oh, I've been cranking the Imperfect soundtrack I created on Spotify to get me in the mood for the next chapter, and the last one that played was, curiously enough, Imperfect by Stone Sour. I can't get enough of Corey Taylor, that man is a God!

Last Film: I barely watch any TV. I read and write in my spare time, so the last movie I saw was in the movie theatre and I took my son, so we got to see the live action of Lilo & Stitch! I enjoyed it a lot! 🥰

Working On: Too many things at the same time, actually 😆 I'm working on Imperfect, Kid's Meet-Cute and I'm also throwing a few paragraphs for chapter 2 of All of Yourself, as well as trying to plan and write a very challenging longfic for my main account with ships like: SaNami, LawBin, Ace&Vivi and ZoTash.

monika : i can see her being the wheel of fortune, since it’s literally about how you can’t control everything. which is exactly what she does. and yeah technically she has the power to control everything but it is her ultimate downfall. isn’t the tower card also supposed to be about revelation? that sounds epiphany-ish to me

sayori : if any of you make any hanged man jokes you’re OUT!! (/j) anyway, i’d go with either the sun (because duh.) or the star (because duh.) i was thinking also the lovers because vibes. actually all of these are based on vibes. damn it

yuri : well, this is funny. the temperance is about understanding (first yuri side story) and the hermit is about self reflection (second yuri side story). that was easy. i’d also maybe add the moon because of subconscious

natsuki : did someone say chariot??? i’m sorry, what there any other card that could fit her?? i don’t think so. (well, maybe strength. but strength is like, a very emotionally healthy natsuki)

mc : the fool simply because she’s unfortunately the main character, like. cmon. who else would he be. although there is an argument to be made that he is the vessel for the journey and not the one going through the journey himself. in that case would the player (as an entity) be the fool? and mc would be…. idk, death? because rebirth? or something? maybe the world because of the endless cycle he is in? who knows. not me

I got this idea from another person I follow butttt hypothetically how would you imagine ddlc as a musical, like scenes that would be musical numbers and like the names and plot elements that are either started in the song or finished (if you couldn’t tell I’m a theatre girlie and I’m dying for this, so I’m doing the wise thing and making you do it :3)

OUHAGHHH IM SUCH A MUSICAL PERSON U HAVE NO IDEA!!!! I’D LOVE A DDLC MUSICAL (all the fan made songs are PEAK already)

i think a musical as in a stage play would be hard simply because, well, monika is supposed to be in love with the player, in this case the audience. and that just complicates things even more, maybe it would work if the musical is more comedy than psychological horror but the entirety of act three would be very hard to pull off. in a stage play.

that being said, turning ddlc into an album that the story unfolds in would be so. fucking. good. can you imagine how much cool production magic there could be every time the fourth wall breaks??? PEAK!!

i think the main problem with this, and the idea of a ddlc anime-movie-whatever, is the fact that sure the choices don’t actually change the outcome but they are important to how players experience the game. like, people who first chose the yuri route probably saw natsuki as very annoying, whereas people that chose the natsuki route would probably think yuri is too much. one solution would be to have mc spend each day with a different girl i guess (that way each one could also have a song for each hangout) but again the problem would be that most people would immediately take it as what actually happens in cannon. which i’m sure you understand why it’d cause some discourse.

anyway uh… the question was about what event would be songs, not the logistics lmao!!

so, i’d say one welcoming number for when mc gets to the literature club for the first time, one duo song for nat, yuri, sayo for each day mc hangs with them, another song about that one day they read poems for the festival as practice, a ballad for sayori when she has her talk with mc, another duet with whoever mc spends the weekend with that ends with sayori cutting it off and starting to sing another song. maybe the songs slowly turn to the wrong key at times as we reach the end of act 1 / the start of act 2.

i think act 2 would be the reprises of all of the previous songs (minus sayori’s) but now they’re all fucked up both in the lyrics and the production. monika of course should be singing over the girls at some point. maybe there are random weird instrumentals in between songs, where the bg noise is actually someone reading the secret poems, that’d be fun. until the festival practice song, where yuri loses her shit and then we cut to (what should have been sayori’s ballad) a very pretty piano piece with the most disturbingly obsessive lyrics possible. maybe another instrumental where it’s basically us waiting for the weekend to pass, and then it ends with monika coming in and saying “oh well that’s a shame” or smth.

act 3 is the weirdest one to think about as a musical, because there is just no way to get everything from all of monika’s monologues. Obviously the player is now ‘the listener’. I think it would have to have a sickeningly sweet but also really concerning solo song from monika, a really really messed up instrumental and then it could end with monika screaming as she gets deleted or something.

act4 is only the welcoming song, in which everything is fine and dandy until sayori starts singing the reprise to monika’s solo in act3, showing us that she’s now under the epiphany. and then uhhhhh yeah idk

a) deus ex machina : sayori accidentally steps on it while they’re freaking out

b) unanimous decision that the safest option is burning down the building.
