it’s so important to follow people on tumblr who watch tv shows that you do not watch because sometimes they will put gifsets of beautiful women on your dash and you get to look at them

Hey I'm a local IATSE member in LA, I'm not a grip but I'm an electrician in 728. The local 80 grips and 728 electricians work ridiculously close together.
I never met Rico Priem but I did know Spike who fell to his death from completely neglected 100-year-old wooden catwalks back in February. For a goddamn Marvel show.
I just got back from a candlelit vigil and walk for our fallen union kin. A lot of people mentioned both of those men as well as Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography who died on Rust.
Before Rust, the most recent preventable death in the industry was Sarah Jones, a young camera assistant who was killed when her production failed to secure the correct permits to film on train tracks.
The vigil pretty much became a live version of the Instagram, ia_stories. (Where people anonymously post their onset horror stories)
I wanted to mention it to my fellow crew members but didn't get a chance, but the amount of television fans that supported us during the strikes and were even enraged when Rico died meant the absolute world to us. I found out about Rico's death from a Facebook post of one of his friends, it didn't go into detail. I googled it and one of the first links was your blog and after learning more I posted my own post out of absolute disgust and anger.
We're literally dying to entertain you and the support does not go unnoticed. So thank you.
I've honestly spent the last couple of days wondering how to answer such a heartfelt and heavy message. I want to give you and all your union members the respect they're due and I don't know what to say. I'm really grateful that you guys can see that we care. I think it's the least we can do. You are, as you said, dying for our entertainment and that's not okay. That's never okay. The industry needs to do a lot better. I'm glad I could help in some way. And I hope you know how much hearing this meant to me to know I'm succeeding in that a bit.

i’ve decided i want to do the spin the wheel game for 911 characters but instead of fmk it’s:
solve one problem in their life (you have to put in the tags what problem you’d solve for them)
put in prison (you have to put in the tags what crime they’re getting convicted of)
have a 3 hour conversation about only 1 topic with them (you have to put in the tags what topic you’d choose)
so go on: spin the wheel for a 911 character!!!

Weird Questions for Writers (because writers are weird)
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
14. Do you lend your books to people? Are people scared to borrow books from you? Do you know exactly where all your “lost” books are and which specific friend from school you haven’t seen in twelve years still possesses them? Will you ever get them back?
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
20. If a witch offered you the choice between eternal happiness with your one true love and the ability to finally finish, perfect, and publish your dearest, darlingest, most precious WIP in exactly the way you’ve always imagined it — which would you choose? You can’t have both sorry, life’s a bitch
21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?
27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?
28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?
29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?
30. Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?
31. Write a short love letter to your readers.
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?
34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:
35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice…what do you Know?
37. If you were to be remembered only by the words you’ve put on the page, what would future historians think of you?
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
40. Please share a poem with me, I need it.

But no I’m not done explaining why this shit is hot homophobic garbage and anyone who reblogs it should be ashamed of themselves
Tommy reacted to Buck’s genuine show of vulnerability and fear and bid for connection with reciprocation. He opened up about his own father and his experiences with Gerrard.
It wasn’t “out of the blue” Buck said “we both have daddy issues” with a smirk on his face. He was flirting. He turned the conversation horny.
If your argument relies on ignoring half the actual lines in the scene, it’s just bad logic. You get an F in Media Analysis.
“I would have killed him with a gun” god Good Thing there’s not a well documented pattern of people killing gay men for flirting with them and getting away with it or that would read very poorly. Oh Wait.
“Poisonous” in reference to a gay man is just classic Lavender Scare rhetoric.
The whole vibe of acting like Buck, who again, was the one that first brought up daddy issues, is some passive observer being preyed upon by Tommy? Homophobia. Textbook homophobia.
Blocking anyone who calls you out is troll behavior but that doesn’t excuse the people that reblogged it uncritically. It especially doesn’t excuse the person that put it on my dash.

Eddie Diaz as an asexual character would be so fucking heartbreaking to explore. Like here he is with two women and he’s trying desperately to feel something meaningful with either of them. Compulsively performing heterosexuality because that’s all he’s ever known. It’s all that he’s ever considered.
Buck finds out he’s dating multiple women and instead of the breakdown we’re expecting where he tells Buck off or tells Buck it’s none of his business, he ends up telling Buck he just wants to feel something with somebody.
Buck being a baby bisexual hasn’t had time to do a deep dive on the nuances of sexuality. He doesn’t know the terms about asexual and aromantic and the spectrum of labels that can fit in there. His first thought is maybe Eddie just likes men but doesn’t realize it, but Eddie hasn’t ever felt this way about men either. It causes a fight because Buck is allosexual, and he can’t wrap his head around the concept of just not wanting or feeling anything romantically or sexually.
Eddie has always just assumed he was straight. Because there’s nothing there. No attraction. No lust. It’s just nothing. Nothing towards anyone. And he’s so upset. He pushes everyone and everything away. Because he can’t understand why he just can’t feel anything with anyone.

I love how the pilot episode of 911 introduces it as this super serious firefighter drama and then after the intro you get hit by what the show is really like when a priest's phone goes off during confession and his ringtone is firework by katy perry

As if I wasn't already exhausted enough this morning...
It's been brought to my attention that people are taking my fanfics, editing them, and sharing them around. I don't have the words to describe how not okay this is. If you don't like something about my fanfic, then I'm sorry to hear that, but there are a lot of other fics out there you can read instead.
I put time and effort and care into my writing, as does every writer. To take my work without permission and change it feels like someone just punched me in the gut. Frankly it makes me not want to share my work at all and to take down all the writing I do have up, because why should I share anything with people if all they're going to do is decide it's not good enough and they're going to do what they want with it and make it "better"?
And before anyone comes at me, this is not what a transformative work does. This is not the same as fanfiction. I'm fucking exhausted from working two eleven hour shifts over the weekend so my brain is not working so someone smarter and more articulate than I am can explain why. I'm tired.
This genuinely makes me want to take down all my works and not share anything new. It's very simple, kiddos: Don't like it? Don't read it. You will miss out on some fanfics that way, just like you'll miss out on some films, or books, or TV shows. I've missed out on really good fic, novels, films, etc, for the same reason. We all do. It's a part of life. Stuff will sometimes have things in it that you don't like. Skim those parts, fast-forward those scenes, grin and bear it, or just go and read/watch something else.
Normally I would make this post unrebloggable but I worry other writers in this fandom might experience the same thing and not realize it. So people are welcome to reblog this. Anyone who's an ass on it will be blocked, no second chances.
Just. Don't do this guys. Holy shit don't do this. What the actual fuck.

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.
