I'll be totally honest here, everyone. My name's Gavin and I'm FTM. I've got a surgery date for the 2nd of June (2021) scheduled for my top surgery and already have 2600 of the 7750 necessary to have that surgery. I'm here to share my link as much as I can over the next few weeks leading up to it in the hopes that I can make it to my goal in time. If I don't get it at my date (June 2nd, 2021), I won't be able to get it for a few years because of my living situation. PLEASE, anything helps.
I have a venmo, a cashapp, and a paypal if any of those are better options for anyone!

THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE [2016]
A father and son, both coroners, are pulled into a complex mystery while attempting to identify the body of a young woman, who was apparently harboring dark secrets. 1hr, 26min
7/10
The concept in this movie, until the last 20 or so minutes, was very well executed, and impressively thought out. But, unfortunately, like most horror movies have done in the past decade, they either ran out of time, or simply lost the motivation to follow through with an ending that would do this film the justice it deserved.
Though the ending was rather rushed, and all together unimpressive, the movie through-out was quite interesting, if not a little unsettling in parts. No, it didn’t really have any jump-scary moments, as many movies have been cursed to incorporate lately, but I truly believe it didn’t need the added spooks. If anything, it did better in my heart without, than it would have done with.
That being said, this movie does have faults other than the sudden ending. While the concept was impressive and rather well-developed as the film continued on, it did heavily lack the shock factor it seemed to be going for when revealed why our Jane Doe is in such pristine condition. Maybe that was due to the suddenness of it’s arrival, but I honestly can’t pinpoint exactly what it was that granted this - again, besides the ending being so fast-approaching - film a seven, versus something higher.
If only recent films would stop rushing to put a film out, and instead focus on the story they’ve decided to concoct.

INCARNATE [2016]
A scientist with the ability to enter the subconscious minds of the possessed must save a young boy from the grips of a demon with powers never seen before, while facing the horrors of his past. 1hr, 31min
7/10
I thought the trailer for this film was incredibly interesting, as it was a rather unique idea on the entire exorcism trope, and while I didn’t plan on paying to see it in theaters, I’m still rather glad I watched it at home.
While it didn’t entirely live up the expectations I had set for it, it still had me refrain from skipping around, as I do when films become either too slow, or dive into being horrendously boring far enough in that I refuse to stop watching them. As I mentioned, the concept of this film was very interesting, as was the execution of exorcisms shown many a time through the movie, but that was a bit overshadowed by the ending, which, as it often ends up being...was rushed.
I desperately hoped this film would not have a happy ending, and while it somewhat granted me that wish, it did what I despise most in films, horror and other genres alike.
It ended on a cliffhanger, setting itself up for a sequel. For shame, INCARNATE. For shame.
Thanks for reading.

SPLIT [2016]
Three girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities, they must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th. 1hr, 57min
8/10
This review likely won’t be long, because this movie doesn’t need a long review detailing why it’s a fantastic horror film, and an even better psychological thriller leaving you perplexed and curious through 85% of it’s runtime. It’s nearing two hours in length, and it uses each piece of that 117 minutes to demonstrate what a good movie should look like.
Had it not had many a cliched moment, and had it not been a little slow in certain sections, I think I would have rated this film higher than an eight, but where it stands now, this movie is beloved to me. Not only does James McAvoy deliver a glorious performance, but our heroin doesn’t skimp on being a slightly atypical female lead.
Not only does this movie shine a glorious light on what dissociative identity disorder - or multiple personality disorder -  can become - with some twists and slight civil liberties mixed in, of course - but it also grants two amazing actors screen time, and a moment to prove how stunning they are as performers.

COMPLIANCE [2012]
A normal Friday service at a fast food restaurant becomes interrupted by a police officer who claims an employee stole from a customer, but something more sinister is going on. 1hr, 30min
7/10
The knowledge that this movie was based on a true story was what drew my attention to it, but it stayed on a watch-list for two years before, finally, I sat down and watched it. I was certainly not disappointed.
While not a horror movie, per-say, this film does fall under the loose category of thriller, hence it being on this blog, and thanks to that, I can express just how intriguing this movie is. Not only does it’s premise and storyline have basis in real events, but it’s something so shocking and uncomfortable, that it’s highly likely to happen at some point again, making it quite an unsettling film to view as a young person.
That being said, it did have it’s faults as a film. About 45 minutes into the film, near when the fiance arrives to assist in the sick tale, everything significantly slows down, pacing-wise. What went from a quick onetwothree, moved to something a little boring, where moments of characters simply sitting and looking around happened, alongside long explanations that really weren’t necessary to advance the plot, nor were needed to add more suspense and creep.
All in all, not something I would care to pay ten dollars for, but definitely a movie to watch at some point.
Thanks for reading.

SACRAMENT [2013]
A news team trails a man as he travels into the world of Eden Parish to find his missing sister, where it becomes apparent that this paradise may not be as it seems. 1hr, 39min
8/10
I’m not sure why this movie doesn’t have a higher score to more people, and I’m not sure why it doesn’t get more credit for being such a spectacular found footage film. Unlike my boyfriend, I quite adore found footage horror movies, with a few exceptions here and there, and this movie only affirms my love for these types of films.
Not only is it not horrendously shaky, as found footage films can easily be, but it’s relatively logically filmed. Granted, like with most movies, it has errors here and there, especially with the amount of followers developed at the beginning, the larger number toward the middle, and the equivalent to the beginning showing up at the end dead, but that didn’t stop this movie from being one that I would recommend to anyone who cares for found footage.
The storyline was simple, yet still complex. A typical ‘’searching for a lost family member’’ cliche, but done well enough that it transformed the basic plot to one much more detailed and outlined than originally expected.
While the twist - that really isn’t a twist, when you think about it - was glaringly obvious from the first 25 minutes and on with how the followers acted toward our trio of male protagonists, it was still executed in a way that had my eyebrows raising every so often.
Our main antagonist wasn’t the creepiest out there, and he certainly wasn’t as threatening as the writer of this film made him sound/act, but he was still so unique in his own way; the kind of way that makes you shudder a bit when something tickles the back of your neck in the night.
Thanks for reading.

DEMENTIA [2015]
After being diagnosed with Dementia, an elderly war veteran is forced by his estranged family to hire a live-in nurse, only to find she harbors a sinister secret. 1hr, 30min
6/10
I’m not sure why this movie is branded as a horror movie, when there really is nothing horrific happening in it. To be labeled as a thriller, however, suits this film far more than the former genre.
This film was a rather impressive watch...for a few spare scenes. The true showing of what those that are ill can go through, even with family surrounding them is only lightly evident in this film, despite it being so important. As much as I would have liked to give this film a higher review than I have, I...just can’t. There are so many glaring inconsistencies that it makes this film not unwatchable, but certainly difficult to refrain from skipping forward on.
While I’m quite glad there wasn’t any true elder abuse - that, surprisingly, is one of the few tropes in films that makes me quite uncomfortable and uneasy - there was a moderate amount of torture, alongside odd flashbacks that truly spoiled the plot for me, as I’m sure it would for anyone else dedicated to watching a film’s story progress over the course of it’s runtime. Sadly, because of how this movie was written and sequenced, we have no real protagonist minus the granddaughter.
Yes, there is a twist, but it really doesn’t come at a surprise at any point in the film, and I think that’s truly blamable on our female antagonist. Not only is she horribly transparent, but she’s frighteningly wishy-washy in her plan to torture and pollute our male antagonist’s mind with memories of what we quickly discover he too is guilty of.
Not a movie worth completely shitting upon, but definitely one that doesn’t deserve to be paid for. Could’ve been better; for shame, writers.
Thanks for reading.

UNFRIENDED [2014]
A group of online chat room friends find themselves haunted by a mysterious, supernatural force using the account of their dead friend. 1hr, 23min
4/10
Ya’ know, I didn’t have high hopes for UNFRIENDED from the first trailer, to the last. I didn’t believe in this movie, and I wasn’t impressed with it’s clips or it’s advertisements to get popularity for it raised and keep it hyped until theater release, and I’ve been proven wrong about these kinds of feelings before, but it’s truly rare.
Normally, when I find a movie unimpressive from a trailer alone, I judge it harshly when I finally see it, if I do at all. Normally, I dislike it, I nitpick it, and I shit on things in it that are either horribly cliched, or that are done so often that it’s no longer original to see them in a movie set for theater release.
So, why am I speaking so poorly in this review, compared to any other I may post? Because I didn’t have high hopes. I saw the first trailer for this movie, and immediately scoffed. I continued watching trailers with the hopes that I would have some kind of turn-around mentally about this film, and for the first time in a while, I’m sad to say I didn’t.
Since I’ve rambled mostly about how this movie disappointed me, and not why, let me get into that, too.
Not only was this film unbelievably cliched, but it was so unbelievably illogical. Should there truly be a hacker in your Skype, should you truly believe that someone has hijacked your conversation and has access to everything - disregarding it being a spooky specter, of course - you’ve done online - which is another reason this movie upsets me, that I will not go into unless asked for very controversial content - then why would you not simply turn your system OFF? Get off your damn computer. Go outside. Call your boyfriend. Make a pizza. Must you truly stay on Skype to find out the mystery of the spooky caller?
I know this is too much to ask for, but I would adore to see a movie follow logical choices of characters. For goodness sake, even the new BLAIR WITCH displayed my wishes better than this garbage. Thank the heavens I didn’t pay for this monstrosity.
Thanks for reading.

THE GOOD NEIGHBOR [2016]
A pair of mischievous high school kids create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor. While keeping his every reaction under surveillance, they see much more than they bargained for. 1hr, 38min
8/10
This movie was phenomenal. The story was bordering on boring until the true suspense began, and once you realize why the reactions our supposed antagonist were given, everything flips on it’s head.
Not only does this film truly show us that the proverb “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” is one of the truest out there, it gives it’s viewer - at the very least, it gave me - a moment of clarity into what they were truly rooting for at the beginning of this film. At the start, I found myself convinced our ‘’antagonist’’ was a murderer, or at the very least a vile old man with sick intentions, but by the 3/4 mark, I found myself truly questioning my own sense of character.
I wish the two ‘’protagonists’’ weren’t so god awful in this film - their acting was rather impressive, their writing wasn’t - otherwise I may have rated it higher than an eight. No matter the rating I gave it, however, I impose that anyone looking to watch a true psychological thriller should watch this movie.
Just keep in mind that not every assumption you have is correct. Just because it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, doesn’t always mean it’s not a hunter.

THE MONSTER [2016]
A mother and daughter must confront a terrifying monster when they break down on a deserted road. 1hr, 31min
8/10
There were no revelations, there wasn’t a happy ending, and there were no twists and turns. Just a stranded pair, a monster, some murder, some gore, some blood, some silly moments, and a weirdly designed monster.
This movie was a major winner to me. Not only was it everything I was hoping it would be, but it stayed true to it’s description, to it’s trailer, and more importantly, there wasn’t some ridiculous twist. It was a sad movie turned jumpy, morphed back to sad and a bit heroic.
Our protagonists were both wonderful actresses, the fear the daughter showed was well-done, the concern the mother ended up showing was genuine feeling, and best of all? No one left truly happy.
A monster movie done well, despite it’s poorly designed monster - it looked a bit too cheap for me - well deserving of a glowing recommendation.

THE FOURTH KIND [2009]
A thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up. 1hr, 38min
8/10
Perhaps it’s my adoration for aliens and conspiracies, as well as horror documentaries that had this movie peaking my interest. Maybe it was the fact that Milla Jovovich was the portrayer of our narrator, or maybe it was the frightening addition of supposedly true footage. Whatever the reason for my adoration of this movie, it will certainly be a movie I recommend.
This review may not be as long as many of the others will/may be, and the reason for that is that...there really isn’t much I can say about this film, just that I cared for it enough to recommend it and watch it with my boyfriend before posting this review.
Recommend? Definitely. Pay to watch in theaters? ...Probably not.
Thanks for reading.

THE COLLECTOR [2009]
Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, an ex-con plots a heist at his new employer's country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps. 1hr, 30min
7/10
The Collector was a favorite when I first watched it, and it continues to be a favorite, even after re-watching it recently. True, it doesn’t have the highest score of all the movies I’ve watched, but this movie was one of the first movies I watched with my brother, among many others, in theaters - I still have the ticket, in fact - and despite only having watched it once before now, I remembered enough of it to be able to recommend and find it again after so long.
The story itself is very perplexing, and while it doesn’t fully make sense in the first one - there are a lot of loopholes and weird situations that didn’t really add up to the overall theme of the movie - it ties together rather well in the sequel.
The main character is written wonderfully, and our antagonist is a mixture of unsettling and hair-raising, jumbled in a bowl with layers of intrigue and confusion. Of the many antagonists I’ve seen in movies of all genres, he is certainly the least thought out, least detailed one, while still being the most complex and peculiar of a wide assortment of villains.
Though it wasn’t the best of all the movies I’ve seen, it was certainly one that I could proudly exclaim I adored, even before I ever became such a horror buff.

THE COLLECTION [2012]
A man who escapes from the vicious grips of the serial killer known as "The Collector" is then forced to help rescue an innocent girl from the killer's booby-trapped lair. 1hr, 22min
7/10
Earning an identical rating to it’s prequel, THE COLLECTION was a phenomenal sequel, regardless of it’s seven out of ten rating. Normally, I dislike sequels with a fiery passion, and lest I truly loved the prequel, I rarely give sequels a second glance. In this case, I adored this movie’s trendsetter so much, as well as the story behind the collector as a character, that I couldn’t possibly pass up the chance to see where he took the red boxes, not to mention what he did with those that he captured.
I wasn’t disappointed.
Just like the first film, the main character is back again, and just as stunning as I hoped him to be. Our new main character, our heroin, is quite deserving of the role she was given. Not only is she a wonderfully written character in this film, but she’s also a rather impressive actress. I can only hope there isn’t to be a third release - a triquel? - for this film, and it’s predecessor, do not need one to be a spectacular pair.
Sure, it didn’t receive a higher score than it’s original, which shouldn’t be a surprise given my loathing nature for sequels in a whole, but it received a similar score, meaning that, just like it’s first film, it holds a special place in my heart.
Thanks for reading.

BEFORE I WAKE [2016]
A young couple adopt an orphaned child whose dreams - and nightmares - manifest physically as he sleeps. 1hr, 37min
8/10
Is it me getting a bit older - reaching my early twenties - that made me enjoy this movie more than I probably would have when I was younger - around 16 ? I honestly can't say one way or the other for either side. I can say, however, that I did like this movie, and the concept, and everything that it was based around. The end, while sweet and definitely sappy, was a little...lackluster given how quickly it ended, but it certainly did not disappoint as far as making me tear up with the heart-wrenching reveal.
Despite this movie being a horror film, for obvious reasons, it developed quite a different atmosphere once the small secret of who the boy's monster is, and how it was manifested so terrifyingly.
Regardless of this not living up to the regular movies I watch, with devastating endings and mortifying outcomes, it was still a rather impressive film, no matter how many tears were drawn. So, would I pay to watch it? Yeah. I would. I wish I had, honestly. It certainly deserves the eight I believe it needs, and it would absolutely deserve the nine dollars I would have spent had I been given a chance to see it theaters.
Definitely one to recommend.

INTRUDERS [2015]
[ also under the title SHUT IN ] Anna suffers from agoraphobia so crippling that when a trio of criminals break into her house, she cannot bring herself to flee. But what the intruders don't realize is that agoraphobia is not her only problem. 1hr, 30min
7/10
I unfortunately peeked at a review before beginning this movie, so perhaps that influenced the score I gave it, but I was still rather impressed with the scenery and suspense it built up over time. Despite the twist being at the end of the movie, - where it should be - it was still rather...lackluster. Maybe that in part was due to it’s confusing nature in which it was presented, and maybe it was because of how little sympathy I felt for the protagonist turned partial-antagonist once the twist was revealed; to be perfectly honest, I’m not entirely sure what made it such a boring scene to know why she was doing the things she was. Maybe it would have received a higher score if more attention was given to that bit of backstory, I don’t know.
Regardless, I stick by my decision to give INTRUDERS the deserved score of a seven. I wouldn’t pay to watch it, nor would I necessarily go out of my way to re-watch it should the moment arise, but there is potential of me recommending this to someone.
Thanks for reading.
