Hi! I am Darshana. I am a freelance-designer, a home-maker and a craft enthusiast. This is my very first blog and its a repository of all the interesting stuff I did when I first moved to a new country (U.S.A) and for the first time in a long-time, did not have a full-time job. I am a creative person and I love experimenting with cooking and creating little d.i.y home-decor products. Hope you like'em.

Family Door Sign
I made this very simple diy door-sign to hang outside on our house-door and it looks amazing!...All you need for this is woollen yarns of the color of your choice, a chalkboard sign and any glue. You can easily find all these items at your nearby craft store or you can even get it at Walmart. First, using a pencil nicely sketch out the name you wanna use for the sign. It can be your and your spouse’s name, like I used, or it can be your family name as well. Try to keep the lines swirly- it looks nice and romantic that way :). You can even use a stencil or make your own stencil by printing the names in any font you like. Then using a glue-gun or the pointed nozzle of glue bottle draw on these pencil lines. Now take a long woollen yarn and start placing it gently on the glued lines Let it dry for 10-15minutes and Taadaa..!

The DIY Lamp
This D.I.Y lamp is perfect to add a soft-dim-lighting to any room while also being a beautiful piece of decor. It is pretty easy to make and comes on a budget. The lamp is also environment-friendly as it is made out of the plastic caps of the used mineral water bottles which keep collecting and end up being non-recyclable trash.

I made this lampshade in the shape of a pyramid...but you can be creative and make it in the shape of a cube or a hexagon, etc...its pretty much up to you!

To make a pyramid lampshade like I did, you need to collect exactly 312 caps of mineral water bottles... All the best! ;)

Start by joining the caps using a glue-gun.

Now, make rows of 12, 11, 10, 9...1cap. Make 4 sets of each. Then join all the rows in the same order to make 4 triangular side panels.

Wiring it up! Join the side panels through the edges. Find a bulb and a holder of your choice (prettier the better :)) and place it inside before joining the top 3 rows. Remember! the lampshade rests on the holder.

...and the Lamp is ready! Go ahead and hang it by the wall in any corner of the room or just place it on a side-table. Cheers!
