There was a roar of sound in one of his ears, but it seemed to bring Marlowe back into sleep the moment it subsided. It was louder than the yelling that reached his left ear, a sound he had grown to ignore from having brothers and sisters yelling about. The sound flooded his ears until he realized he was actually wet, and the small turn he gave had knocked the floatie completely off the surface of the water. He submerged immediately, a short frantic glance as his eyes fluttered open to land on his brothers.
Sputtering, Marlowe stood upright in the pool. He had stumbled onto the property in the early hours of the morning. “I came early to make sure I wouldn’t miss it,” He said, cursing himself under his breath. He patted his pockets to find his phone, the screen twinkling its final goodbye before water damage over took it. “For fuck’s sake. Did it start yet— is it over? Tell me nothing was signed yet.”
“Seriously?” The words came out of his mouth before he could fully process that his brother was the one causing all the conflict at the pool. Of course it was. Quickly he dialed the front desk, shaking his head as the line rang and his brother regained consciousness. “Yeah, it’s me. No, tell them it’s fine he’s actually permitted to be here, they don’t need to worry about it.”
“Passed out was correct, but our location was only a little off.” He huffed, stepping closer to get a look at Marlowe across on of the pool floats. “The meeting was downstairs, why the hell were you waiting for us at the pool?” He questioned with a shake of his head. “You’re lucky Landon and I have a small sense of what’s going on, but we needed you. You missed the meeting by two hours, we couldn’t sign anything without you. You’re the legal eyes. Please tell me how you ended up asleep up here?” He grabbed on to the end of the float, holding it steady by the corner of the pool. “Landon and I were on a wild goose chase wondering where the hell you’ve been. I guess we should be happy you managed to put on a suit that matched.”
...
Landon should have figured out it was Marlowe causing issues in the pool. After all, the youngest of the three tended to do that. “Well, at least we don’t have to have someone escorted off the property,” he mumbled, as he apologized to the other patrons and told security that him and Liam could take care of the situation. He watched Marlowe step out of the pool, dripping along the way, “no more falling asleep in the pool.”
Sighing, he motioned to the suit, “yeah, it looks great and well put together, other than the fact that he’s sopping wet.” Shaking his head, “and no, we didn’t sign anything, because we do it with all three of us agreeing,” it was none or all when it came to the hotel and business ventures, “we rescheduled the meeting, but the investors weren’t too happy.” He had been the control freak of the three, the one who was supposed to take care of their father’s company, but decided to attempt to make it big without their father’s help. @finalvcrsc

Open starter: @fallbrookstarters
Location: Sports Bar
The phone calls from his mother were starting to wear him down slowly. He knew she was worried about him. He knew she didn’t approve of him packing up and leaving Boulder to return to his childhood home town, which was so far away. She had argued with him. She had argued with her twin sister who was in favor of him getting out of a place which was making him depressed and unstable to heal and grow. Only when his Aunt Femi promised to take care of him did she start to relax, though she still made it known she didn’t approve. “Maybe if you made some friends she would feel better. Show her that you’re happier here.” that was his aunt’s suggestion. It wasn’t like he didn’t know a soul here. He knew his cousin, Femi’s son. He knew Asher, though things were complicated between them. He resorted back to ways people socialized before social media and went to the local pub, taking a seat at the bar. He ordered a beer and fixed his eyes on screen above him. The World Series was on and New York was playing against Tampa Bay. “ So…how ‘bout them Yankees?” he joked making an attempt at light conversation with the person who took the seat next to him. “They’re off to a good start this season. But let me guess, you’re more of a Rays fan?” he mused.
...
Landon’s knuckles rapped against the bar as he kept his eyes glued to the TV. When Landon was able to pull himself away from the hotel and work, it usually had something to baseball. He had lived and breathed baseball, almost going pro in college, but he needed to stop dwelling on the past. “No, fuck them both,” he shook his head, “sad to see the Astros not in the World Series, but I gotta follow this through til the end.” Fallbrook was still new to him, but he did manage to find the sports bar in town, not that he ever really went to it. The hotel was still in its first year of opening and Landon had an issue of relinquishing control. “Call me salty, I guess,” he shrugged, “but fuck the Yankees,” he smirked at the stranger.

CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY
PAST
Landon Archer has known nothing but a life of privilege and wealth as the first son of an oil tycoon. Being the eldest son among eight other siblings (mostly half, because his father can’t keep it in his pants and made no effort to conceal his extramarital affairs), meant a lot of pressure on him from his father and since he was a young age, he was groomed to take over the family business. Growing up in the heart of oil country, Houston, Texas, he was raised to learn the ins and outs of the oil business that spanned over Texas, North Dakota, and Alaska and even worked summers on the fields to prepare for his future. Growing up in Houston, Landon never was short on friends, female attention, or popularity. He was the golden child who excelled in academics and extracurriculars: valedictorian and captain of the baseball team. His hard work had earned him a spot at the best school in Texas for his grades and baseball, so he had it made.
Despite all this, he still felt like a lonely guy, until he met his ex. The two were from two separate worlds, but the shared distaste they had for their fathers bonded the two together and he fell in love with her. The two were that stupid cute couple most of their friends envied and even were going to attend the same university. She was his high school sweetheart and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and he didn’t want to wait until the arbitrary age of eighteen. Deciding to forge his father’s signature, the two got married at the courthouse with her mother and sister in attendance. Landon thought his parents would be fine with it, but that wasn’t the case. His father forced them to annul the marriage, stating it wasn’t legal because of the forged signature and it pushed Landon away from his father even more. The worst part was that his ex and her family left and he never saw her again.
To bring himself out of his depression, Landon took a gap year. Traveling on his father’s dime all over the world for six months and then the other six months he had spent working on one of the oil fields in North Dakota. Eventually he decided to go back to school, not taking his original scholarship to the University of Texas, he went to Wharton Business school, getting his bachelor’s in operations, information & decisions and finally took his place in his father’s company. It wasn’t the future he had wanted for himself. He had wanted to make his own way in this world, without the name of his father helping, but it didn’t work out that way for him.
PRESENT
He and Liam made a plan to make their own money, in their own way and decided to build a luxury hotel in Fallbrook. However, to get the money to start this project without their father, Landon decided to get the money from former ties from his college days that came with a price. While his debts are paid and ties are suppose to be cut and tucked away, only time will tell if this was a smart choice for him and his company.

Shaking his head, “Marlowe really needs to be more conscientious. Does he not realize I grew up in Texas with a gun in my hand?” The three all brought their strengths to their partnership and Landon or Liam had no clue how to talk about the law side of things. Shaking his head, “probably passed out in his room, like usual?” Landon offered to his half brother as the elevator doors opened, leading them to the walk way towards the VIP pool. He dialed Marlowe’s number again, but heard his voicemail message instead of his brother’s voice, “Call me back, Marlowe,” he said, leaving the stern message for him to hear. Squinting as the pair walked outside, “you got to be kidding me,” he spotted security yelling at a suit clad figure, floating around the pool, “two birds, one stone?” He asked Liam, as they found the person who broke into VIP and their brother simultaneously.
status: Closed for @finalvcrsc & @devildances location: The Archer Hotel
“Honestly, I’m surprised we pulled that off.” Talking about the law side of things wasn’t ideally something Liam liked to do, which is why Marlowe’s addition to the partnership was so important. Together Landon and himself could hold their own, but there was no denying the undeniable force of their trio being complete. They were truly able to capitalize on their strengths, usually, but this meeting wasn’t the case. “Where the hell is he? He knew we had a meeting today, I personally made sure it was in his calendar. Try ringing him again, will you?” Liam shook his head as he pressed the up arrow button on the side of the Archer elevator. During their meeting they received a complaint about someone sneaking up to the VIP pool and though Marlowe was a priority he was going to have to wait.
