W: You know that’s not possible. D: Really? Then why did you sacrifice your hand for her life? What is that if not love? W: Duty. D: I know better.

DAVID’S EMOTIONS:
“He talks of her great fondly here. Here we go: ‘I loved her, of course. Just as you love Daniels’ and he says ‘that’s impossible’. A.I don’t love their mistress or master, they respect them but technically they don’t have emotions. But he had emotions, that was a problem, emotion is a problem, emotion can lead to bad behavior”
“Confusingly but understandably, the monster had fallen in love with the woman. All right? So, this is real. He said this is an ode to my dear Elizabeth, ‘cause he knows he’s about to leave. He thinks. ‘Farewell Elizabeth’ (…) David was the prototype, was the art form, the A.I., the very first art form, ‘cause making an A.I is an art form, whereas this A.I has emotions, you don’t want an A.I with emotions, because if he does he’s gonna get angry, you really are in trouble”.
- Ridley Scott, Alien: Covenant commentary

Thinking about how David was so hopelesslu in love with Elizabeth throughout Prometheus and Covenant,,
I still think about how David probably could've tested the black goo on literally anyone else on the ship, but chose Charlie fucking Holloway. Was it coincidence that he happens to be the first guy he sees? Maybe, but David definitely calculated and thought about it before committing to that course of action, and there's a ZERO PERCENT CHANCE that he didn't take Elizabeth into account. Whether it be for personal satisfaction or curiosity, she was a factor.
And literally being unable to let her go post Prometheus and doing everything in his power to keep her essence alive forever UGH CHEF KISS
Like what do you MEEAANN he made xenomorphs from her flesh, and made religious art of her, and dedicated an entire area of his home to her grave, and kept her body preserved to an extraordinary extent for YEARS, and shapes his dreams of making the perfect organism to her to keep her alive in some way, and even after years of her being dead still talking about her as if she was the purest thing in his life OUGH God I love them sm

I always thought David & Elizabeth were cute in like a healthy she’s his android rights ally & he’s got a crush on her kind of way.
I’d never read the Covenant script before where it specified David didn’t just snap & decide he hated her. He wanted her to live with him forever & basically went crazy from grief. Which is why he spends the next decade obsessively grafting black goo with her tissues-they combine. It gets sadder when you realize he is constantly drawing, documenting & otherwise capturing everything these creatures he made out of her do.
Not to be graphic, but it’s obvious from the damage to Shaw’s body the xenomorphs weren’t originally conceived as chest bursters, but to mimic the natural birthing process most women undergo. This is actually an exploration of the darker parts of what people are willing to do in the name of building that life that most of us are after, mommy daddy & a couple kids. What he does is inhumane but while his actions look monstrous it’s actually confirmation David is more human than anything else. He’s a thinking, feeling person & his needs not being considered enough in his design left him to fend for himself in terms of fulfilling normal desires, like family & acceptance.

Love when Spock refuses to admit that he lies. Kirk will be blatantly like "Spock, I have seen you lie." and Spock is just like "I have no such ability, captain." Liar of all time.

kirk’s biggest asset as a captain is that he always goes with the flow no matter what. if he accidentally warps into an evil dimension where everything sucks he’s like well the only way to solve this is to be an evil captain who sucks. mr sulu prime the death torpedos and fire on the innocent civilians while I retire to my quarters. if he gets challenged to wrestle his best friend to death in the middle of a vulcan fuck ceremony he has no problem doing that. in one episode they went back in time to the great depression and kirk immediately stole a bunch of clothes from a balcony and got a job sweeping basements. guy who has terminal commit to the bit syndrome

some of you think ‘nuanced’ only means ‘morally grey’ and I’m here to tell you that actually straight up good characters can still be nuanced and unapologetically evil characters can still be nuanced. the character doesn’t have to be an anti hero or morally dubious to have depth. they don’t even have to feel sorry about their crimes to have depth.
