Imaginary Borders

Imaginary Borders discribes an almost "imagined community". Based on the work of anthropologist Benetict Anderson "Imagined Communities" (1863) and in my experience in participating in the erasmus programme, I try to envision and understand a new structure of sociey of respect the different (Other). According to Anderson's work, which analyzes the importance of nation and nationalism, the nation is a socially constructed community imagined by people who perceive themselves as members of this group. During my stay in the Netherlands as an exchange student at the University of Leiden, "I was forced to" convey and broaden my borders, creating a new routine with other people from other nationalisms. Using these people in a more surrealist view of their self, nationalisms I interpret the nationalism and imagine a new perspective of the imagined community more dreamy, cosmopolitan. A society of interests that, like Anderson's work, no member will never know most of the other members, but there will be a sense of belonging. Finally, imaginary borders, although that is a creation of the dominant imagined communities, keep their dreamlike character as they continually redefine their borders and their during of the stay, in the end of which each is "forced" to return to primitive nationalism.
