((Jane used to be the one to calm her mom down when she was spiraling. Neither of them were particularly informed about mental health, so she did her best with the limited knowledge that she had.

She'd hold her hand and coax her into singing with her, almost always You'll Never Walk Alone from the musical Carousel.

Mrs. Yeoh is obsessed with old musicals, especially Rogers and Hammerstein. Jane's personal favorite is Cinderella with Brandy Norwood, but they don't watch that one as often as Carousel or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.))

"Whuh?" That was a startling thing to hear, especially in the middle of an adventure. True, they had just survived the collapse of half of the candy mountain; molten chocolate was spewing down the wreckage like Willy Wonka's dying hallucination of Mount Vesuvius, but the others should be handling any evacuation efforts. At least, they should be doing something.

But right here, right now, they were stuck in a cave, behind a ton of candy rubble. Safe, but for how long?

"Here...can you focus on me right now?" A cloven hand-hoof-monstrosity is offered for Pomni to hold. "You can squeeze my hand if you need to. Don't look at the wall, just look here."

It was like a light had gone out inside. Something calm, placid, and utterly detached had taken over her entire countenance, presenting an eerily calm facade.

"We're going to get through this. Okay? I promise."

She was actually a really cute human

((Jane's mantra is "this isn't about me". Ever since she was a kid, she's used that to both push herself to hold on, and to ignore anything hurtful said to her by her mother. "This isn't about me" because she knows mom's just hurt, not mean. She doesn't actually mean it when she says that she wishes Mallory died instead of Tammy. "This isn't about me", so suck it up and be there for the only family you have left. "This isn't about me" so why does she feel so bad?))

"N-no problem!" There's a shaky thumbs up, the Doe's tail twitching behind her. Hopefully this worked... normally, she knew how to get things she wanted; little things like ideas for adventures, but she'd never directly asked for something like that before. But she would try.

Baku took her words into consideration and nodded, "that makes sense, Thank you for helping me!" Her limbs clink together lightly as she jumps in place excited to see if the plan works.

((Fun fact; Jane is actually a gazelle, not a deer; specifically, she's a Speke's Gazelle. That's why she has horns.

Everyone saw her, went "idk man that looks like a deer" and ran with it. Gazelles are ungulates, and like deer, they're two-toed. However, gazelles are in the bovidae family and not the cervidae family, in spite of their appearance; they are far more closely related to cows, buffalo, and goats than deer.

But we're not gonna burst her bubble. Especially because there are a lot of behavioral overlaps with deer.))

"Well...if I heard someone say that, I'd be upset, too." There's a rare quaver in her voice, as though genuinely struggling to be so open. "I, um...I was just trying to make myself feel better, actually. Being a deer kinda sucks sometimes? But I can't imagine the whole porcelain thing is fun or easy, either."

She's quiet a moment before piping in once more. "Being stuck is enough to make anyone a little sensitive. Especially when you're not even in your own body."

Oh God, someone heard that-

"No, God no of course not! You're freaking adorable, I just...okay, maybe I spoke a little hastily, but to be fair, I didn't think anybody could actually hear me."
