Dingle (2)

Still in Dingle, now with activity options!
- The Beach

The sign reads: "Tips for Trainers #13 - Dingles' most beloved inhabitant is a friendly Wailmer, who comes to visit every spring and autumn, stays for a few days and then takes off again in search for new, exciting Wailmer adventures!" (based on Fungie)
On the northern end of the beach sits the ferry port, connecting Dingle to Clifden - usually. The ferry is out of order at the moment, for maintenane reasons. You'd find all kinds of water- and sand/ground-based Pokémon here, but especially Shellder and Wingull (fighting each other, different ideas about dinner plans, you see).
- Team Lavender HQ (Dingle Base)
The HQ looks like a youth centre, because it is one. A playground and a small, fenced-in football (not handegg) ground in front, with kids of all ages playing, hanging out, etc. The main building houses a variety of workshop rooms, recreational rooms, a bar (with softdrinks, manned by the local social worker) and workspaces where the children can do their homework or receive additional tutoring from older teens or hired adults.
The players will be greeted by Suzie, a peppy mid-20s lady with bright pink hair, asking if they're new to town? Welcome to Lavender HQ, there's a woodworking group active right now, if they're interested? Oh, the fabled new trainers! She's still super happy to meet them! Just as happy as the kids, who wanted to give their support any way they could, so they decided to craft some friend balls in their last Apricorn crafting workshop, making everyone feel as welcome as possible here in Dilnare. They're a bit lopsided, but made with love, and will 100% work! But.. where are they? A 8yo Team Lavender member informs them that Benny couldn't endure the anticipation and wanted to bring the balls directly to the professors' house. Haven't they seen him on the way here?
Suzie is concerned. Benny usually has no trouble finding his way around the village. Could the party maybe look for him? She's sure Benny can't be far away, but still. Tracking capabilities for the win here, but asking around can yield similar results, leading to the little wood behind the village.
- The Grove
As soon as the party arrives at the groves' treeline, a shaking shrub or thrown acorn might catch their attention. The person throwing the acorns will always be faster than them (for plot reasons), but with a wild chase through the underbrush they will lead the party to a clearing.

The sign reads: "Tips for Trainers #14 -Everybody loves a clean environment, so don't be a Slakoth and clean up after yourself! Pokéballs can be recycled in every PokéMart or repaired for only 50PD!"
At the back of the clearing the party will see three teenagers (13-ish) surrounding a ten-year-old in a pink hoodie. Also three Rattatas, attacking the younger boy. "Come on, show us what you've got! Your Pokémon is strong, so let it fight! It has to be strong, as rare as it is!"
The teenagers want to fight Benny's Munna, but Benny doesn't want to fight and fled into the grove, trying to shake his bullies off, and is now shielding his beloved Pokémon with his own body (the loveable idiot).
Cue Trainer fight tutorial. After the bullies are put to rout and Benny is brought back home (the friend balls are a bit scratched, but still good to go - 2 balls for each party member), the party will want to go back to the Profs' house for the night. Next morning, they'll find three Razz Berries and a torn out Diary Page outside on their windowsill.
- Diary of a Dreamer #1
"A family of Butterfree discovered your herb garden today. I wanted to call for you, while the Pokémon danced around your lilacs- but I forgot. You are no longer here."

Dingle (1)

Dingle is where our adventure starts. A small, sleepy village, home of the regions' professors.
I made my players all arrive in different cities (mainly to introduce the large cast of rivals early on), and getting to Dingle was their first challenge. Corviknight cabs, similar to Galar, worked wonderfully. The [campaigns] introduction letter invited the players to the professors' house, so that's where they'll go.
Prof. James Hawthorn and Prof. Dr. Dr. Myrna Hawthorn are two highly decorated and widely revered experts on their chosen fields. She is the go-to specialist whenever an old and long-forgotten language pops up and needs translation, and her historical knowledge is quite vast, to boot. Her specialty are Pokémon-related historical events. Imagine if McGonagall had a dog and went on an extensive jog with him every morning, then you've pinned her vibe down perfectly. Btw, the dogs' name is Tisso, he's a Herdier and the goodest boy ever. He was part of the research team that discovered the new fairy type under Prof. Sycamore, and was the driving force in the subsequent re-sorting of existing Pokémon into this new type. James is a force to be reckoned with when playing chess, and he is the pudgy, good-natured, belly-laughing and pipe-smoking grandfather figure everyone needs in their life. Their kids are long out of the house, and they've turned their little cottage by the sea slowly but surely into a library (even the bathrooms). When they're not giving lectures at the university of Dulin City once a week, or get called out to give their expertise, or mentor the next generation of promising trainers, they are actually quite enjoying their retirement. James has taken up gardening as a hobby - the garden is thriving, to everyones surprise.
The party arrives, receives their camping equipment and some lunch, and then they've got the options to explore the beach or a nearby grove (for a Pokémon catching tutorial mayhaps). But also, the Team Lavender kids prepared something for the new trainers, so it would be fantastic if the party could visit the local Lavender HQ before they start their journey? This is where players might flip their shit, because Teams are always the bad guys, and the first thing they should do is walk into the lions' den? Assure them that the Team Lavender kids are harmless. (They really are.)

Hello World
In the beginning there was a Word document. And I saw that it was empty, so I filled it with bullet points, fleshed out conversation shrapnels that came to me in dreams and shower stalls, vague ideas about events, and a general direction for the fan region, while generously ignoring the last 300 years of actual irish history, and instead I added some cliff notes about the Ulster Cycle, a transcript of "History Summarized: Ireland" by Overly Sarcastic Productions, pages upon pages of Wikipedia articles and condensed tourist informations to various irish places. Then came characters which soon developed their own lives, which I took as a good sign. The Evil Team™ was inspired by MandJTV's YouTube video "My Pokémon Evil Team - Team Pixie Dust" If I post anything pixelart, please always assume that the tilesets and sprites come from at least 3 different sources, most of which I don't remember anymore, as I seldomly pixel myself. I just stamp away with pre-existing sprites until the pictures is acceptable.
Also, the region was made to fit three player characters (tabletop campaign compatible), so some things come in triplicate: gym leaders, rivals, etc.
