jasper found himself a little overwhelmed from the buzzing crowd and all the noise; by the time the fifth giddy first year bumped into him, he felt absolutely done with the whole feast. approaching the tents, he poured himself a cup of juice, but only a little. what it needed was something extra. taking out his flask from the inner pocket of his jacket, the pettigrew poured a generous amount of whisky in the cup. he noticed the person next to him had noticed. “what? you want some?”

marcus was bustling with energy and hungry due to the long ceremony -- it was his last year at aurelius, he wanted to go out with a bang. he’d armed himself with pumpkin pie, turkey and paczki, carrying the plates carefully over to the nearest table. unfortunately for draco malfoy, he was the first teammate marcus ran into so he had the pleasure of hearing the flint’s newest quidditch strategy in its entire brilliance. he’d talked for a while, taking a break only to breathe and eat. “how about you stop being a little shit, malfoy and -- oh, shit“  thankfully he caught the piece of pie that threatened to fall  “-- and listen to what i’m saying? ‘cause i want at least six wins this year. smash gryffindor into oblivion. maybe break a limb or two if we’re lucky.“

it was hard, growing up in such a place as the karkaroff household when you had so much warmth and your father’s cold gaze could put out the biggest fire. lena was loud when she had to be quiet. emotional when she had to be stoic. laughed at the wrong times. cried at the wrong times. soon enough, though, one learns how to adapt. to tell your father the right words, the ones he wants to hear and not the ones you want to say. to sneak around the manor and learn how to make your steps as quiet as a mouse’s. to clench your fists and swallow your tears when they threaten to come out. to lie effortessly.

lena knew she wouldn’t have made it without cal. he plays peacemaker, she sees his efforts to keep her safe. sometimes she was all over the place. she gets good grades, she gets bad grades. she rebels in subtle ways. she obeys. she lashes out in tears. she apologizes. lena wanted to be heard, to be loved. to be accepted. she despised her father, yet a part of her wanted his approval.

aurelius is an escape, a safe haven. so far from home, this new found freedom is almost overwhelming. sometimes, lena feels like she’s on the brink of enjoying it just a bit too much.

being sorted into hufflepuff was a surprise at first, but then relief hit her.

peter pettigrew was nineteen years old when he discovered his girlfriend was pregnant. anita kamdar, a muggle girl who’d accepted him just as he is. who was ecstatic instead of freaked out when he told her of his magic, who found all the qualities peter considered flaws to be endearing, who helped him overcome his insecurities and fears of never fitting in. everything was so perfect and now it was all ruined. peter had just graduated. he was working two jobs and barely could afford the bills. he could not raise a child. he didn’t know how to be a father; hell, he never met his own. he hated it; feeling like a coward once again, like the kid that followed james and sirius around. the child would be better off without someone like him, peter thought.. so he disappeared from anita’s life. 

jasper was raised by his mother and grandmother. they owned a small restaurant at coventry and typically worked from sunrise to sunset. there was too much work and they couldn’t afford to hire more staff, so jas pretty much grew up there. anita was a great mum, but most of the time jas had to rely on himself which is why he grew to be so independent and an amazing cook. by the time he was nine, he wanted to start helping around in the kitchen.

jas showed signs of magic quite early; anita tried to fill him in on everything she knew of the wizarding world from peter, but it wasn’t much help. jasper discovered he enjoyed experimenting with magic. at the age of eleven, he got his letter from anthelm. it was a whole new world for jas, who’d been raised as a muggle, but he was a quick learner.

TW DEATH!! his grandma passed when he was eleven; his mum when he was fifteen. jas had no living relatives he knew of and expected to be placed at an orphanage. END OF TW that’s when peter pettigrew showed up in his life. peter didn’t know how to bond with jas. jas on the other side thought it was a bit too late for peter to play the father role. peter didn’t know what he was doing, that much was evident, but he was trying.

the youngest out of amadeus flint’s six children and the only son, marcus is everything his father had ever wanted and waited so long for. perhaps the flints weren’t what they used to be once upon a time; far less influential and rich nowadays, but amadeus carried himself just as his ancestors did. he was incredibly old fashioned and considered his daughters mostly as means for business deals and arrangements through marriage. of course, he only proposed the idea, it was their choice at the end. but truly, who dared deny amadeus?

marcus was quite obviously his parents’ favourite. his head is filled with praises - he’s the strongest, he’s better than everybody else, he’s the golden boy. and marcus believes it. he does love his sisters, though and is incredibly protective over them. he’s just too egotistical to notice they’re getting the short end of the stick over there.

at thiudreiks, marcus flint was known as a bully and few people dared cross him. he did eventually mellow out with time, as he grew and matured, but marcus is still very much easy to set off. he’s domineering, confrontational and blunt. his mouth, and sometimes his fists, certainly work faster than his brain. he is a gentleman to the ladies, though - if anything, his sisters taught him at least that. or rather, beat it into twelve year old marcus.

quidditch is one of his biggest passions. he’s not afraid to play dirty which is evident in his aggressive, sometimes ruthless playstyle. during a match at his first year in aurelius, marcus badly injured a player from the opposing team, which almost got him expelled.
