“I still wouldn’t ask the gods for love, even if they could give it,” Leah murmured softly, offering her hands to him in return. “Unless it was the love of a god…love between two people has to come from those people.”
She smiled at the stranger, then bowed her head. “You may.”
Taking her hands, he wrapped his fingers around hers and squeezed gently. “ You’re not wrong. Love is one thing I have yet to see mortals force onto another simply because it is so pure. It’s always fascinating watching it grow between two people. It’s like a flower in many ways, though I have known several who have had it act like a fire. Both analogies work depending on the relationship. “
Ignis watched her for a moment, trying to think of the right blessing to give her. Slowly, he gathered magic from the well deep within him and began pushing it through his fingers and into her. “ Unfortunately I cannot see what type, but if it helps I see companionship in your future. “

oaktreeweathergirl:
[☀] — She was expecting to see some changes after her time gone, but Lillie never quite expected this.
That man had such a striking appearance! He was so… tall, and his eyes, and clothes… they definitely weren’t from around here. Her first thought was that he might have been some cosplayer, around for a convention being held in the city, but something at the back of her mind told her that wasn’t quite right, either.
Regardless of what he might be here for, it was clear he was lost, so Lillie begins to approach him just as he turns to her with a strained and awkward smile. Ah… obviously it wasn’t something he did often.

At his question, Lillie wears her own smile as she answers. “A tailor? I can help you with that, yes! I had actually been headed towards that part of town myself, so I can take you?”
Ignis can feel himself relaxing slightly as the woman doesn’t draw attention to the oddness of his appearance. After spending so much time among mortals these past few months he should be used to being slightly out of place, but it continues to be an odd experience for him. Taking a deep breath, he tries to relax his smile into something more natural and mostly manages it.
“ Thank you. I would appreciate the company, I believe I’ve gotten myself rather lost without realizing it. “ And he has. Without magic to guide him he has no idea where he’s going. Since gaining his powers he’s never been cut off from them, and he feels like the world keeps shaking beneath his feet without it.
“ My name is Ignis, it’s a pleasure to meet you. “

ghostlyoracle:
“Live with me.”
She remembered saying it to him, so long ago. To live with her and share a home together, it wouldn’t have been the first time the two had lived together, but it was the first in a very long time since. They still were young the last time they shared a home and even then it was rarely for long. He would go on hunting trips and Sharron would travel with her mother.
And now, there wasn’t much else for them to do outside of their now shared home except for living their lives.
It felt right.
Sharron sat with her legs folded, holding a tea cup that has since been emptied but she couldn’t quite find it in her to set it down.
Not until she heard the knock.
She got up, slowly smiling as she padded over to the front door, feeling the familiar aura of one of her dearest friends, “Ah yes, it would be hard to mistake my house for another. So many in this area.”
Sharron laughed and stepped aside, letting him come into her- their- home.
His gaze traveled from her face into the house. It was all familiar to him, after all he had visited the house before and spent time with her. But that had been different. None of it had been his, it had all been Sharron’s. Now it would continue to be Sharron’s in his mind, but there would be parts of it that were his too, a joining of two separates into a whole that he prayed to the old gods he didn’t destroy.
Stepping over the threshold, he let out the breath he had been holding since leaving his mountain top. Ignis reached for her, his hand finding her side just for a moment so he could give himself something real to hold onto. He hesitated for a moment before pushing his way further into the house.
“ More than there used to be. Some days I wonder where everyone came from. “ Noticing the tea cup sitting on the table, he hummed quietly. “ Do you have more tea? I would not mind sharing a cup with you. “

“Finn, there’s nothing here but rocks and trees,” Kasey groaned as he hoisted himself up the mountain. His breath ragged and uneven from the longer than long hike Finn hastily convinced him to going on. Something about feeling a presence he hadn’t felt in a long, long time.
“Were almost there Kasey, please just a little further,” he tiny harvest sprite fluttered his wings as he pushed as hard as he could at Kasey’s back.
“Yeah, sure, a little further is easy for you to say. You’ve flown the whole way up here.” He shivered, pulling his coat tighter around his neck, feet tromping none to quiet into the patchy rock and dirt below. “Do you know how many rocks I got hit by just climbing up this damn thing…”
His breath heaved as he rounded a rather large boulder, hand resting against it as he stopped for a short breather. It was then that a voice ripped through the quietness of the mountain top. Head shot up and eyes widened as he met gazes with a quite tall man. Hair as red as lava cascaded down his shoulder in a long braid. Whoever he was he seamed quite…flashy.
“No, I –”
An elated gasp echoed behind him and Finn quickly zipped past his companion. “Harvest King!” He hollered, tiny arms flailing as he hurried up to the mans chest. “I though you were gone forever, when did you wake up?”
By now Kasey’s breath was caught in his throat for a reason other than being physically wiped. ‘K-King?’
Ignis stared at the fairy in a mixture of surprise and pleasure. It had been a long time since he had last seen Finn, and it was reassuring in it’s own way. In a way it made him believe that not everything had changed on him, that maybe parts of the world he remembered where still lingering, waiting for him to discover them. And having Finn appear before him made him feel a little less lonely in the world.
Smiling slightly at the fairy, he reached out to gently hold the fairy to his chest. It was rare that he touched anyone, but for an old friend he allowed himself to make an exception. After all, after spending over a hundred years of sleep he needed some form of connection with another creature.
“ Finn, “ his voice was warm with welcome as he released the fairy. “ It’s been too long. Incredibly so if you believed me gone for good. I’ve been awake only briefly. I was not aware that I had been asleep for so long. “
He turned to the mortal standing a few feet away and let his smile grow slightly. “ I believe I offered food and drink. The offer continues to stand if you wish for either. And I believe I can add in a place to sit and rest. “

ladyshadowland:
Maerwen glanced up, not expecting to see something very good.
There was…a royal flush.
She touched her hands to her lips, staring at them, before she slowly bowed her head. “I am defeated,” she breathed with great disdain. She took the cards and put them away again. “Utterly shamed. How will I recover?”
Whether she meant it or not, she didn’t quite show. Instead, she pulled a beverage napkin out from her pocket, then began doodling on it with a gel pen. “Well. If you return to this cafe, you may ask for me. And perhaps I will do a better job at the game.” When she passed the napkin over, there was a terrible depiction of a crying woman with frankly enormous ears - ones that hung almost to her waist - and a very pouty smiley face drawn next to it.
Under that, inexplicably, was a very cute spider, and the name Maerwen.
“That one is on the house.”
Ignis looked from the cards to her, brows slightly drawn in confusion. He couldn’t tell if the woman was being serious or if she was being sarcastic. His experience was sarcasm was limited to the handful of experiences he had with a few of the people he knew well around the island, but they always made if obvious to him that sarcasm was being used. After a moment, he settled on the conclusion that she was being serious.
Taking the napkin from her, he looked down and blinked slowly at the name. It was an unusual one, but for some reason it seemed to fit the woman well. Looking up at her again, he smiled softly as he folded the napkin and slipped it into his pocket. “ Thank you, Maerwen. I look forward to coming in again. I hope the rest of your day goes well. “

A Night on the Mountain | Open
It was a quiet evening, for which Ignis was grateful. To him to seemed like every new day was filled with some new lesson about the mortal world and the ways it had changed over the years. Tonight he was grateful for the chance to sit and relax, to enjoy some alone time to clear his head.
Sitting on the edge of the cliff that held the opening to his cave, Ignis stared out over the top of the Fugue Forest. The sun was beginning to set to his right, and the moon had risen not too long before. Soon it’s soft light would illuminate the world and turn everything into a sea of silver and shadows. He loved seeing it. The simple beauty filled him with a soft joy that lasted for days.
Intent on the scene before him, he didn’t have his usual field of magic out around the peak of the mountain meant to protect him and warn him of approaching people. Hearing the footsteps behind him, he was pulled from his thoughts and turned his head towards the sound. The top of the mountain rarely received visitors, and for good reason. It was out of the way, and as beautiful as the view from the top was, it was a less than ideal hiking spot.
Still he wasn’t about to say no to some company, especially if they had hiked all this way.
As the approaching person finally rounded the rock and came into view, Ignis eyed them for a moment. “ Are you in need of water or food, traveler? “

Leah blinked at that, trying to piece together what he had said. Was he implying that he….
“I wouldn’t ask the gods for love…that seems…wrong? Love is something you have to find or make for yourself and for others. But…whatever it is, I’m willing to accept.”
Ignis gave her a small smile. The woman seemed genuine to him, and he respected her immensely because of it. So few that he had spoken with recently carried the same feeling that she did. “ If you did you would not be the first; however, you might be the first who accepts the answer you receive when you ask. “
Slowly, the god moved closer to Leah, his hand starting to cross the space between them. It stopped halfway, palm upwards and he carefully watched her. “ May I? “

“Of course not!” she scoffed, tossing her purple ponytail.
“The first thing we’re going to get is your balance. You hang onto my hands while I skate backward and pull you. Come on now.”
Marina helped him step onto the ice and gripped his hands firmly. “You’re not allowed to hug the wall. If you do that you don’t learn anything besides how to hug the wall.”
They slowly scooted along, Marina giving him advice as they went. “Keep your knees bent. And it’s easier to keep your balance if you stay slightly upright. Not all the way. You’ll overcompensate and bust your ass.”
Stepping onto the ice, Ignis immediately started regretting his decision to join her skating. The slippery surface of the ice had him struggling to stay upright on the thin blades of the skates. Legs shaking, he tried to listen to Marina’s advice, but it was difficult listening and trying to keep his balance at the same time.
“ Hug the wall? “ Ignis frowned at her slightly, trying to understand what she meant. Why would he be hugging the wall? It wasn’t like hugging it would provide any comfort. Taking a deep breath, he stared at his friend for a moment. Giving up on ever getting it right without some sort of aid, Ignis called his magic to him and used a slight wind pressed against his torso and legs to keep himself upright.
Maybe if he was lucky she wouldn’t notice. Then again, he never had been very lucky when it came to Marina.

Oh goodness, this man was tall! His hair was quite interesting, too, the bright red color somehow unnatural, but this man could pull it off. Margaret quickly shook off her surprise at his stature and smiled politely, shaking her head and gesturing for him to carry on.
“You can go ahead! I can always grab another one~.” She’d been on Leuda for quite some time now, so it was a surprise to her that this man was someone she didn’t yet know. “Did you recently come to Leuda? I don’t believe we’ve met before.” She held out her hand with a smile. “My name is Margaret. It’s nice to meet you~!”
Ignis stared at her in silence for a moment, contemplating pushing the apple onto her, but eventually came to the conclusion that it would be both strange and rude. Placing the apple in the basket he had picked up by the door, he bowed his head in thanks to the woman, not entirely sure what to say to her to convey his appreciation.
The god blinked slightly as she stuck out her hand for him. It continued to feel strange having people so willing to touch him, even if they didn’t know who he was exactly. Cautiously, he took the woman’s hand and gave it a gentle shake. “ Ignis, a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for the apple, I am sorry for not paying more attention. “

lovemercifully:
Alisa turned to see a tall man with hair that reminded her of flames and his eyes carried the same intensity. She paused due to his imposing presence. It only faltered her briefly as she smiled warmly at the stranger. It was always pleasant to see a new face at the church.
The man bowed respectfully, making her wonder if he was already a follower of the Harvest Goddess. If that were the case it seemed quite odd she’d never seen him before, considering she’d lived at the church for the better part of the last decade. Perhaps he was new to the islands?
“It’s no intrusion at all. We welcome all visitors,” Alisa reassured with a smile, though his words perplexed her even more. Then he wasn’t new to the islands?
“When did you last visit?” Alisa asked, curiosity gaining the better or her. She didn’t mean to pry. If he skirted around the question she wouldn’t press it. After all, anyone’s visit to the church is sacred and deeply personal. The last thing she would want was to make anyone uncomfortable.
Ignis felt himself relaxing slightly as the woman welcomed him. It always felt odd entering temples, even ones that were dedicated to other deities, maybe because it made him feel mortal again. He could almost feel the presence of the other gods in the very stones he walked upon when entering the temple. Some times he could almost see their power pouring out of the walls and flooding the building. It was usually enough to suffocate him. But the Harvest Goddess’ temples were different. He blamed it on his mother and her devotion so many millennia ago.
“ Several years ago, “ he answered her quietly, gaze turning away so he could look around the temple. Back when the stones were new and and the building had radiated with the blessing of the Harvest Goddess so that you could feel her power from the other side of the island. “ It looks the same as it did back then. I for some reason did not think it would. Which may have been unfair of me. “

endlessmadrigal:
“Hmmm… What to make for dinner…” Margaret walked along the path that lead to the grocery store attempting to think of a decent meal to cook. They didn’t have too much at home at the moment, so it warranted a trip to the store to replenish their pantry of ingredients. Perhaps she’d make something with shrimp, since it was her favorite…
She entered the grocery store, grabbing herself a cart and idly pushing it along the produce aisle, eyeing the different fruits and vegetables available for purchase. She had to hand it to the Arcadian farms, they sure could deliver some quality products. She reached for an apple at the same moment someone else did and she retracted her hand with a police smile. “Oops, sorry about that! You go ahead~”
Leuda did something to Ignis that made his magic weaker. Even summoning food from his cave, which he normally did without a second thought, was proving to be difficult for him. It left him with a vague sense of frustration, and he was woefully close to snapping. But thankfully he knew enough about the lives of mortals these days that he had known to look for a grocery store, as weird as it was to him.
Once inside the store he had wandered for a few moments, trying to get his bearings. After seeing a few of the more processed foods, Ignis had decided to stick to the fruits and vegetables, or at least the ones he recognized. He had started reaching for an apple, something he had always loved as a child, when he noticed someone else reaching for the same apple. Pulling his hand away, he smiled at the woman slightly. “ My apologies, I was lost in my thoughts. Are you certain you do not want it? “

lovemercifully:
Alisa stood near the Goddess statue as she snuffed out the candles decorating either side of it. It was going into late evening and it would be best not to leave lit candles throughout the night. The last thing the church needed was to go up in flames. Despite the ironic visualization.
Before she finished with the last few candles she heard someone’s sneeze echo through the almost empty room. The sudden noise was enough to make her stand up straight, the automatic response came forth from her lips, “Goddess, bless you.”
She turned to see who her guest was, asking, “Welcome. Is there something I can aid you with?”
The smell of the candles had taken him by surprise. His nose had scrunched slightly as he tried to fight off a sneeze, but inevitably a sneeze had burst out of him. Covering the lower half of his face with one hand, he froze slightly. It had been such a loud noise, he hoped it hadn’t disturbed anyone. After all, he had meant to sneak in and pay his respects before slipping away.
When he heard someone bless him, he turned in their direction and lowered his hand. Eyeing the young woman for a moment, he bowed his head in a gesture of respect. The keepers of temples and blessed grounds would always hold a special kind of respect from the god.
“ Forgive me, I did not wish to intrude, “ he kept his voice low, hoping not to come off as disrespectful to the woman. “ I simply wished to visit and see what has changed here over the years. “

“Is Shia LaBeouf my-? PffFF!!” Marina burst into a fit of undignified giggles.
“No, Iggy!” she choked out between sputters off laughter. “He’s just an actor. One of those weird artistic sorts, you know? He’s not my lover. Besides, the man is married. I know you don’t think much of my standards, but that’s a line I don’t cross.”
“Now!” She clapped her hands and held them out in front of her. “Enough stalling. Grab on and let’s skate. Or is the Great and Terrible Harvest King too much of little chicken to try?”
Ignis had to struggle not to roll his eyes at his friend. As usual he had no idea what she was talking about, and was beginning to wonder if she did it on purpose to show him just how much of the world he had missed while he had been asleep. It made him feel out of place, and more alone than he ever had before.
Staring at her outstretched hands, he sighed a little to himself. At least she was out here, trying to keep him entertained and interested in the world. He could at the very least appreciate the effort of it all. Marina was trying, and she was trying for him.
Cautiously, he took her hands and eyed her. “ You’re not going to immediately push me out onto the ice by myself are you? “

She shrugged faintly. “I suppose they are. If I had to pick something….maybe companionship? I have friends, and my dog, but….”
Leah looked up and smiled at him. “Sometimes I want a little more than that, you know? Not even for the rest of my life, just…”
It was harder to articulate than she’d expected. She loved her friends, loved Iris and Zircon and the house. But there was more to be shared with someone who was…closer.
Blinking slowly at the woman, he tried to piece together what exactly to say to the woman. Ignis could fully understand what it was like to have a lack of a certain kind of companion. Friends were good and well, but sometimes there was more to be desired. How often had he desired such a companion when he was human? Or even now?
“ I know what you speak of, “ he promised her. Offering her a small smile, he turned to face her on the bench a little more. “ Unfortunately, love is something humans do freely, and cannot be created or forced by even the gods. However, I believe I can give you something nonetheless, if you’re willing to accept it. “

He didn’t fight her on it. He didn’t tell her that she was wrong - that her experiences were wrong. He simply looked down, thought through it, and then extended his apologies.
For reasons Maerwen wasn’t fully aware of, her dark cheeks flushed to a rich shade of rose.
She nodded, unused to being so…immediately validated, then cleared her throat. “Well. Thanks.” She was terrible at this job. Why did she even have this job? Why had she ever thought it was a wise idea to pick it up? What did it give her?
She laid down her cards. “Pair of twos.” Terrible hand too, but she’d done what she could. “Show me your cards so we can dub the winner.”
Ignis watched in fascination as the woman’s cheeks started to change colour. The deep red was a beautiful colour on the woman, and it made him smile slightly seeing it. Most people he spoke and interacted with rarely showed allowed their emotions to show on their face, as they believed it was bad luck to show emotions to a god.
This was a nice change from the encounters he had had with people in the past.
Eyes widening slightly at the woman as she brought his attention back to the card game, he quickly looked down at his own cards and frowned. He had no idea what he had. Laying his cards out on the table, “ I don’t know what these are. I just remember a few cards in sequential order means something. “
