Mohg is obviously majestic af as usual and my pride and joy forever. Surrounded by Mohglets now (I'm actually not a mpreg or any sort of preg enjoyer sorry but it has sent out seedlings like crazy this year. Blood red babies everywhere. Some got eaten by bugs but still many survivors)

Miquella has doubled its size as well despite having been heavily trimmed just a few months ago. It's almost blocking the sun for a small area now (sheltering all the shade lovers beneath) and apparently will be climbable in just another 4 years yay

uno reverse, I want to know if you have any thoughts/hcs about Trina (or any other major new dlc character!) ^^ I know you're mainly an oc guy but you have some fun takes on canon characters too

I doooooo have many thoughts about Trina! She was one of my fave bits about the DLC!

For starters, her design is awesome!

Elden Ring is in no short supply of weird character designs!

Also after grinding my hair out for like 7 hours straight or something against the putrescent knight (which I hear most ppl first tried somehow) I was very happy to stumble across something like this! I had lots of theories over who Trina was beforehand so to see she was actually in the DLC was awesome! I have a good skill of avoiding spoilers :3

First, I'd like to explore this comment:

"St. Trina is an enigmatic figure. Some say she is a comely young girl, others are sure he is a boy. The only certainty is that their appearance was as sudden as their disappearance."

We find this on the Sword of St Trina in the base game so this has me thinking that Trina and Miquella weren't always attached to one-another even before this moment.

Also! There is an entire religious following devoted to her:

"Priests of St. Trina use these arrows to spread their teachings. The sweet oblivion of sleep can become quite the habit."

So my questions are, how long ago did Miquella and Trina separate? Was it not common knowledge that Miquella was Trina? Were they ever even one being? It's hard to say as we're not really told explicitly though it is noteworthy that when Miquella is killed so is she. The description from her blossom is also very interesting:

"St. Trina's life withered and fell, as fleeting as the seasons. At her last, she left a single water lily. Slightly boosts max FP. Despite the velvety-purple hue, the flower is in no way poisonous—it merely blooms in quietude."

And then there's this ghost in the stone coffin fissure:

"Kindly Miquella... I see you've thrown away... Something you should not have. Under any circumstances. How will you salvation offer...to those who cannot be saved? When you could not even save your other self?"

So overall it seems that Trina is a manifestation of Miquella's affection and love. She IS a key part of Miquella and she is not entirely her own being. Yet, how are they still entirely different beings?

I have theories!

First I'd like to jump into the faith of Trina and how I believe it began by people seeing visions of her.

This can be supported by certain items like the Fevor's cookbook:

"A record of crafting techniques left by a man who was utterly captivated by St. Trina. He continued the search for her in his slumber."

It doesn't outright say this but the fact he chose to search for her in his sleep is very interesting. Whoever this man was, it would appear that he knew that Trina could not be found physically as he seeks to find her in his dreams rather than in person. The St Trina's Smile talisman also alludes to this idea too:

"A talisman depicting a smiling St. Trina, a vision conjured deep within a certain man's heart. Raises attack power when sleep is triggered in the vicinity. "Only I am allowed to know. Of your velvety sleep. Its sweetly gentle embrace. So please, smile—for me, and only me."

This one is a little more ambiguous as it is dropped by Thollier, someone who is a devout follower of the Trina faith and may already have an idea in his mind of how she appears due to the faith's many religious icons (like the sword of St Trina) which could have influenced his dreams without needing interference from Trina herself. Thollier also seems a little crazy. Just a bit.

But if we know that Miquella and Trina are the same being, why is she speaking to people in their dreams? Assumedly, most of the Trina faith began before his journey into the shadow realm as I believe this mission had to have been fairly recent, such as how you see Miquella abandon his great rune in real time once you near Messmer's castle. So it's fairly safe to say that most of these items and visions began loooong before Miquella ever cast her away. Then what does Miquella have to gain from speaking to these random people? It's not like he needs her influence to charm people into doing his bidding, but then it could also be a means to draw people into his clutches to then bewitch. But interestingly, I don't think Trina and Miquella share the same goals.

We know she is capable of going against him as she begs the tarnished to kill him once he begins to ascend Enir-Ilim.

"You must kill Miquella... Grant him forgiveness"

This, I believe, shuts down the idea that Trina was used to bring people into Miquella's trance. She doesn't want him to ascend, she wants to save him!

So this, though a little messy, brings me onto my next theory:

Trina was using her charm to amass followers to try and prevent Miquella from pursuing his goal.

As a part of him, she knows how he thinks for they ultimately shared the same body at one point. So, from the beginning, Trina likely knew of Miquella's plan to ascend to godhood long before anyone else did and yet she also knew how dangerous this would be. But she was only his love, she wasn't his will nor anything else. This therefore made her powerless to stop Miquella from within as whilst I believe that Trina was a part of Miquella's mind she lacked any control over his actual body.

But with others, she could certainly try!

Now I know there is no explicit detail or mention that there was any conflict between the followers of Trina and Miquella. It's also noteworthy that followers of Miquella, such as Cleanrot knights (my beloveds), drop both Miquella and Trina lilies which are known to be symbols of faith in both followings.

"A flower signifying faith in the Haligtree." - Miquella lily

"A symbol of faith in St. Trina." - Trina lily

This, therefore, shuts down the idea that there could have been a physical conflict between the two but it doesn't entire cancel out the idea that that was one lying underneath. Perhaps the charm of both beings cancels the other out, rendering the devotee in question to be neutral as there is no follower of Trina or Miquella who is exclusive to one or the other it would seem. Even Thollier was charmed by Miquella.

So maybe there was a plot by Trina to stop Miquella and maybe there wasn't. Ultimately, this is how souls theories always go and it's what makes them so fun!

people who do not play nightreign are always baffled when you're playing nightreign on revenant and say something aloud (in a call or smth) about frederick, helen, or sebastian. they assume you gave those funky names to your silly spirit summons yourself, but no. those are their canon in-game names. frederick the pumpkinhead, helen the page, and sebastian the giant skeleton. they're my family and i love them.
