I think it's because Effie didn't raise her little sister. She still sees her as someone to protect and look after, but they are allies who work together against their problems, not protector and the one who receives protection.

I Just Might Have to Make This Happen I Fear (Currently I'm seeing Maysilee filling the spot of Madge, Louella/Lou Lou filling the spot of Rue, and Wyatt possibly being another past Victor?) ((this all does imply, however, that Prim and Asterid are Very Dead due to Katniss's past actions))

Unfortunately I fear that a Hunger Games AU where Peeta and Katniss switch places with Effie and Haymitch would be incredibly funny Katniss as a disgruntled victor, answering every knock on her door with a loaded bow and always showing up to every Reaping Day with whatever she hunted that day on her belt. Peeta doing his best with drawing names and escorting the tributes, more Cinna-like than anyone else in the Capitol Effie volunteering for Prosperina, a double surprise in that a merchant girl got reaped, and another merchant girl took her place Haymitch once again getting incredibly unlucky and now he has to deal with the utter ball of anxiety that is Effie Trinket in a life-or-death situation Unfortunately this entire idea is making me laugh a little too hard and I think it could be very very entertaining

OH Goncharov THIS and Sophie THAT but what about Valery huh? Valery Michailov who cares SO MUCH about his sister. Valery Michailov who has no discernable love interest (no Luciana doesn't count it was never confirmed and honestly I didn't buy it on his end in the film itself). Valery Michailov who clearly doesn't have a sexual urge in his body if those failed seduction scenes are to be believed. Valery Michailov who is SO DONE with all the romantic drama and just wants to go home and have his family intact again.

Y'all can keep your homoerotic tension, I want the aro/ace King.

Sofia Appreciation Post

I know that all of the characters in Goncharov are great, but shout out to Sofia honestly, she doesn't get enough love. Girl is coming from a less opulent background than anyone else, shows up, sows chaos and confusion, simultaneously provides all of Katya's sanity and paves the way to her downfall, accidentally (or not-so-accidentally) dooms everyone involved, AND does it all with the cutest bobbed hair known to man. Icon.
