Just came up with an AU where Mabel used to be a lot like Dipper but because everyone at school bullied him because of his nerdiness she was scared that she’d be bullied too so she kinda puts up this hyperactive pinkie pie persona to differentiate herself from him as the “fun twin” and as they grow up her secret “nerdy” personality slowly develops into this psychotic Spinel-like persona who’s willing to commit a disturbing amount of crimes to protect Dipper but he has no idea about this and just thinks Mabel is his happy and bubbly twin sister who loves glitter and boys. She actually manages to get away with all the murder and arson she does in Gravity Falls because the police don’t take the reports seriously (plus she’s way more stealthy with what she does). It’s a little hard having to switch between lovable and crazy so often, but she’ll be fine. Probably.

As the series progresses, Mabel finds comfort in her “real self” who she names “Lebam” and sees as her best friend; all while growing more mentally unstable everyday.
