If God were truly infinite in His mercy and compassion, He'd take these fucking Olympics away from NBC.

Let's be clear: NFL execs who are ANONYMOUSLY criticizing Michael Sam for coming out are pussies. And as for the baggage Sam now brings to the locker room, Coach Edwards--well, seems teams dealt just fine with the baggage Ray Lewis brought to a locker room after he was dubiously cleared of a murder rap. Mr. Lewis has been singing the praises of Jesus ever since, so even if Ray did kill someone, well, he's certainly a shining example of the power of love and acceptance, something the NFL, many of whose players often very publically tout their alliance with God, now has another chance to display.

Speaking of casting stones . . . since many Americans seem to be crowing at the ineptitude of the Russians in setting up their Olympics and the possible terrorist strike that might happen as a result, should someone remind them that the ONLY successful terrorist strike at any Olympics in the last thirty years happened in 1996 at the summer Olympics in Atlanta?

After essentially calling liberal women whores, Governor, I mean Reverend, Mike Huckabee claims that, “conservatives are going to continue to fight back against destructive policies towards women and families.” This will come as especially welcome news in religiously conservative states like his own because those states uniformly have THE highest rates of divorce in America.

I'm not sure what's more pathetic: That Dennis Rodman is essentially our only ambassador to North Korea or that the mainstream media is treating him like he is.

Home Depot founder Ken Langone has been terribly hurt by Pope Francis’ comments on the rich. Most of us, of course, can only imagine the daily indignities visited upon a billionaire. Let us all say a prayer for Mr. Langone, whom I'm confident Jesus would argue is clearly in need of one.

A remembrance today for a wise old soul who left our world: Hugh Nissenson was a born-and-bred New York Jew who, in his novels, channeled various religions for his characters with a convincingness that was clairvoyant, be it a 17th-century Puritan, a 20th century Catholic, or the 19th crazed mystic Johnny Chapman, aka, Johnny Appleseed. Hugh was a kind man and a master craftsman. Now he rests with the angels.

In Israel, hundreds of state-appointed rabbis issued an edict forbidding landlords to rent apartments to Sudanese immigrants and other non-Jews. The same rabbis were recently reported to be studying Torah with David Duke, but that has not yet been confirmed.

No, Rick Warren, forcing employers to provide contraception through health care is not at all like forcing Jewish delis to sell ham because ham isn't about a human being's fucking health. Enough of the distracting self-righteousness, please. Christian Scientists don't believe in doctors and medicine at all, so should they be exempt from providing employees any health care? If you suffer from depression or bi-polar disorder, is your boss exempt from providing meds because he's a Scientologist? Separation of church and state. Our civil laws aren't based on your religion. They're based on what's best for civil society. Pray and move on.

Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter and Google just had 2 million passwords stolen and posted on-line. Is this an example of the software excellence in the private industry that folks were criticizing the Obamacare website for lacking?

Rhode Island’s governor decided to call the holiday tree in the State House the Christmas Tree. Don’t’ be surprised if homelessness, poverty, and crime in Rhode Island automatically plummet while test scores and incomes soar.

Atheists are putting up billboards consoling each other because they feel like outsiders during this time of year. Perhaps if they served soup to the homeless at a local church instead of buying billboards, they wouldn't find their self-centeredness and self-pity so emotionally crippling.

Speaking of thankful, it's only after I've watched a couple bouts of Ultimate Fighting Championship that I realize just how far we've come as a country, a society, a civilization.

The American Family Association has already given Wal-Mart a top rating for celebrating Christmas on an exceptional basis. Glad to know that paying employees starvation wages for saying, “Merry Christmas,” instead of, “Happy Holidays,” is exceptionally Christian.  I wonder if sainthood is bestowed on cutting healthcare for employees that say, “Good will toward men.”

Since pro football players are wearing pink to raise awareness for breast cancer, I think breast cancer survivors should wear helmets to raise awareness on brain damage in the NFL.

Billy Graham recently said that the country is in need of a spiritual awakening. Given the hateful words and deeds of his son, Franklin Graham, you'd think Reverend Billy would settle for a spiritual awakening just in his own family.
