Tech Trek: Week Two Recap
Hey everyone, Time for another update on my internship here in Zadar! Week two is comming to an end, and I'm excited to share what I've been up to. At the start of the week we headed to the new university building to check all the ethernet ports. Our task was to ensure that each port was connected to the right network slot and we had to map out which ethernet points were in which rooms. It was a bit of a puzzle but after two days of work, we completed this project.

The following two days we were tasked with restoring some old computers. We swapped out the hard disks for SSDs and installed Windows on them. Sometimes we had to fix a few extra things, like reattaching a protective plate on the back of a case or transferring a motherboard to a new case. It was a hands-on experience that taught me a lot about computer hardware.

Friday was a free day, so we took the opportunity to explore an island just across from Zadar. We hopped on a boat for a 30 minute trip that cost about 4 euros per person. The island was beautiful and it was great to take a break and enjoy some new scenery. In the evenings, I also took some amazing walks around the city, enjoying the beautiful sun Sets and the ambiance of the old town.

Overall, it’s been another fantastic week filled with new experiences and challenges. I can't wait to see what the next week brings!

Tech Trek: Week One recap
Hey everyone,
Can you believe I've already been in Zadar for a week? The time really goes by when you're having an amazing time, and we've had a whirlwind of experiences both at work and during our free time.
Here's what we've been up to. This week, our primary focus was getting things set up and running smoothly at the University of Zadar. To ensure that everyone has a reliable connection, we measured and mapped out the WiFi strength in every room of the new dormitory. Plus, we installed three new computers for students to use, and we made sure that the network was configured perfectly.

But it hasn't been all work and no play. Zadar has so much to offer, and we've been making the most of our downtime. One evening, we took a leisurely stroll to the Sea Organ, a unique architectural marvel that transforms the movement of the sea into beautiful music. Watching the sunset while listening to the melody of the waves was an unforgettable experience, and it's moments like these that make me fall in love with this city more and more each day.
And speaking of sunsets, we made sure to catch another breathtaking one while we were out and about. We found the perfect spot to watch the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange. It was the ideal way to unwind after a busy day and to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Zadar

Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to share my Zadar journey with you all.

Tech Trek: Touching Down and Exploring Krka National Park
Hi everyone,
I made it! After a smooth flight and landing (and a cockpit photo with the captain), I've officially touched down in Zadar, Croatia. The excitement is still present, and I can't wait to share my adventures with you all.

Let's rewind to the beginning. We arrived at the airport early at 9 o'clock and landed at arround 14:00, ready to start this amaizing internship. But before we dove into this amazing experiance we needed to buy some essentials. Our teachers took us to the supermarket to grab all the basic supplies we'd need for our time here. It was a fun way to start getting acquainted with the local area and culture.
But the real highlight of the weekend? Sunday's trip to the breathtaking Krka National Park. I took some stunning photos of the waterfalls trust me, you won't want to miss them. It was the perfect way to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of Croatia.

Monday brought our official introduction to the University of Zadar. And got a tour the campus and get to know our surroundings. And of course, what better way to set off the day than with a goodbye drink with our teachers? We laughed, and toasted to the adventures ahead before they headed back to Belgium.

As I reflect on my first weekend in Zadar, I'm filled with gratitude for this incredible opportunity. From exploring stunning national parks to getting to know my mentor, it's been an unforgettable start to my Croatian adventure.
Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to explore Zadar and dive into life at the University. It's going to be an epic journey, and I'm excited to share every moment with you all.

Tech Trek: My Croatian Internship Journey Begins!
Hi everyone!
I'm excited to share some big news with you. This Saturday I'll be leaving Belgium for an internship at the University of Zadar. I'm really looking forward to sharing my experiences on this blog with all of you.

Well let's introduce myself first: I'm Dylan, an 18 year old student from Sint Maria Geel, located in Belgium. I'm studying Computer Science and Network Management and love all tech-related things. So I guess you can tell I'm thrilled to gain some hands-on experience at the University.
But let's be real, the idea of diving into a new country, getting to know new people, and using my skills in a professional settlement is so exciting. I can't wait to learn new things, meet my collegues, and gain an understanding of how the IT department at the university works.

But the Internship is not only all about work, right? I'm also excited to explore Zadar. I mean it is a city with a rich history, and beautiful architecture and it is located by the Adriatic sea, so there will be a lot to discover.
I plan to write about my internship on this blog, so check back for updates on my experiences, adventures, and maybe even helpful tips for anyone thinking about something similar.
Vidimo se uskoro!
