Grumble. I'm glad my Sims 3 game is still going strong, but it sure would be nice to have an open world on a 64-bit sims.

I have done about a dozen of these eye edits, but I don't know how many I will post, just because I am absolutely ass at taking pictures of eyes. I think I need some camera and lighting mods that I just don't have. All my in-game eye photos are horribly shadowed, and CAS has a bright light that produces a huge reflection in most cases. I'm sure folks who work with this kind of cc create a specialized area for photoshoots with optimal lighting, but that seems like a lot of work.

I also don't play with HD faces, so what you see is normal game resolution.

ANYWAY.

Examples here are EA gray, EA blue, and a darker brown from the cc presets that I use because, despite the prevalence of darker brown eyes in EA premades, I don't see an EA preset for it.

These are BrtWaffles' conversion of Yumedust EyeLove V1. I have removed the catchlight, enlarged to EA basegame size, and removed the custom sclera.

I don't think the screenies do them justice, honestly. IMHO they came out quite lovely

I'm finding that TS2 -> TS3 eye conversions are a really good bet.

For most of my history with TS3, I have created my own characters and interacted with the town. In fact, I am such a genetics junkie that my longest-running save is in a custom world hand-populated with simalikes and original sims with interesting faces. It's been running at least 4 generations, and the townies all look unique.

Recently, though, I have fallen in love with EA sims and have started playing them. A lot of households come with great backstories and have good faces for all that many players don't like them.

I don't make many sims of my own. I personally find that folks who manually make or remodel all the sims in their town often end up with faces that all look basically the same. We all have a particular aesthetic, and when you apply that to a whole town, even when you're trying to introduce variety, it shows. So when I'm using custom sims, I want sims from a bunch of different creators. I'm not going for everyone being attractive though. I just want everyone to look unique.

Well, this little mod to remove happily married sims from online dating results seems to be working.

I'm poking around to see if I can do the same for attraction date calls. Maybe add the ability to completely halt them for married active sims who don't have a dating profile.

The attraction date calls (and letters and gifts) seem to be a different system from online dating. It seems like there OUGHT to be a connection, but I haven't located it. I'm not entirely sure how this season even factors in the attraction value. On my first pass, it looks like date calls could just be from random sims in the neighborhood 🙄. That would be so EA, but I still think there must be a bit more to it.

This has been a big pet peeve, so I'm pretty jazzed.

I haven't forgotten about Warrior Cats, I swear.

I don't build my own houses because I suck at it. I usually download houses by other simmers. I'm playing the Appaloosa Plains Riffin household in its original EA house as a remodeling challenge because the 70s barfed all over the interior of that.

I have really gotten into playing premade households, though. I don't think enough simmers do that.

I made a little mod to remove happily married sims from online dating matches. It's erroring out, and I can't figure out why.

I'm trying to get myself back to pushing Warrior Cats over the finish line. The whole mod suite was a huge endeavor that I'm very proud of, but oh the burnout is tangible. I've gotten some good feedback from the testing release, which helps.

I will stick to little mods for a good long while after this.

So in my current short attention span modding, I made an Appaloosa Plains without the fences lining the roads almost everywhere you could practically add a lot. I figured that with the complaints I'd seen about the fences on the world lot, someone else would have already done this, but I didn't find one.

It's built off ellacharmed's version with her fixes. I'm going to Porter my Riffin save over to it.

It seems like something that might have some interest for other people. I'll see about making it available for download.

I fell in love with Sims Freeplay. Then I burned myself out a bit and took a break. But it's really charming, and I enjoy running the whole town essentially as one household.

I never played Sims Mobile. The art style bugs me.

Is there a mod out there that allows sims to get juiced from drinking nectar? Seems like there ought to be, but I haven't found one.

First time messing around with custom careers. I changed MissyHissy's IT Career to use Arsil's Programming Skill instead of Logic. So far it seems to be working.

I think it might be kind of cool to alter her Archaeology career to make excavating and analyzing artifacts into job performance metrics. She already has an opportunity involving excavating in Egypt, so it ought to be possible. Sure, you'd have to go on vacation a lot, but that's kind of like going on digs, right? 😆 I like the idea of digging up artifacts and using them to populate a museum.

7. Whats the biggest risk you’ve taken with your story? did it pay off?

The answer to 7 and 14 are kind of the same thing. In Generation 6 of my Samples story, my heir Dylan's partner turned out to be an Imaginary Friend, and I took that opportunity to introduce some worldbuilding around magic and the fae.

Dylan's children (Vickie's generation) all then had fae blood, and I had ideas around how it manifested based on the traits they rolled.

But it turns out that in a gameplay-driven story, it takes a lot more concentration to keep something complex like that woven into the events. Vickie's generation coincided with a three-year hiatus and some general burnout. I lost track of the thread, and it fizzled.

14. Do you have any regrets about your story so far? if you could go back in time, how would you fix these?

I would definitely go back and weave the fae details into the stories of Vickie and her brothers. I did do some stuff with it, but sporadically, and not in a way that made a coherent storyline.

I would like to take on something interesting like again that without resorting to a pre-planned story.

24. Are there any characters who remind you of yourself?

Heh. Other than the time I started a challenge with my simself, not so much. I still have that save (Waypoint) and hope to return to it someday.

Children Can Repair Base Game Objects

Here's the other child conversion I was working on, rooted in a moment in 2021 when I got overconfident in my meagre animation conversion skills and got in way over my head trying to produce animations for a huge Handiness stretch mod.

Three years later, I can mostly do what I set out to do then, but I had to scale the scope down considerably. No upgrades, and only base game objects.

I'm not sure what the wisdom is for letting your children repair your leaking dishwasher (note they CAN be electrocuted and die, just like adults, so be careful), but plunging toilets certainly makes sense.

I have some bad adult cc that keeps showing up on a child's naked outfit.

I can't see anything in CAS that this could be.

At first, I thought maybe it was something I had installed as Sims3Pack a long time ago, but I'm not sure that makes sense. This is the first time I've noticed it happening.

Does anyone have any advice for finding bad cc?
