8. What about your story are you proud of?
I'm proud of the story as a whole. It's still going strong after 8 (!!) years. I'm always especially moved when I hear from people who could relate to the characters in similar real life situations. This is why I started a Sims-blog in the first place. Playing Sims is a pass-time. But sharing stories is giving something back to the world.
9. What about your story are you looking to improve on?
I wish I were better at writing Scottish English. This has bothered me since the beginning, but it's just beyond my skill-level as a non-native writer of English. Although I said I wouldn't go overboard researching for this story, there's always room for improvement in this direction. From reading 'Marriage' at least I learned that longer speeches in perfect Scottish accent are as difficult to read as they are to write.

Spring - Year 3
After a sponge bath, FroAnhke is the first to change into her new spring clothes.

With her hair untwisted and pulled into a puff, she helps Integrity grind wildflowers for flour, sugar, and oats (as I had not yet edited @anitmb's hunting mod food processor to process @echoweaver's harvestable wheat into flour).
FroAnhke's year 3 spring outfit goes through a couple of tweaks before she appears the way she does in her sim profile, and her alternate outfit (seen here) is tweaked again once I found a more suitable top. There are going to be a lot of little tweaks and re-tweaks of outfits and lot remodels. It would seem my design skills have to adjust between modern and period piece games, and I'm still rusty.

Three other family members, Trovinte, Assiduous and Pride, also change into their new spring outfits after washing up for the evening.
I didn't choose to do the makeovers in batches. Assiduous and Pride made their own outfits. FroAnhke made her and Trovinte's. Ru's outfit was also completed at this time, but I thought he'd hold off on changing into it until he'd finished Shocc's. Justice and Integrity had started their outfits, but not finished them, and FroAnkhe ended up finishing Integrity's outfit for them.

After FroAnhke and Integrity finish up grinding, Integrity heads over for some play time before dinner, while Trovinte catches up with his wife.

Then Ru finishes cooking and the family convenes in the dinning room. The rest of the Isol Isle sims will have to wait one more day before they change into their fresh gear.

Holy crap. I remember this story. I didn't make the connection until I saw "Taz" and "Adia." It looks like you stopped posting about these characters 2017 and started up in September? Or did I totally space this?

I posted the original story from June 2016-September 2018 (Adia’s death posted in January 2017).
A LOT has changed for me IRL in the 4 years since I originally stopped posting, and about a month ago I was feeling nostalgic and decided to start things back up again! (Really, I just wanted a chill gameplay save to actually play the Sims, but then things kind of spiraled, as they do.)
This particular story is kind of 1/2 reboot, 1/2 alternate universe; it’s not exactly a continuation of the original story, but technically it fits after the Forgotten Hollow arc that I never finished in 2018. I’m hoping it’ll still be accessible for folks that weren’t around for the original since some unexplained magic has caused (as Envy put it) “a reset.”

Utilities Mod by Twinsimming 💡💧
This mod adds optional power and water utilities for players looking for some added challenge in their gameplay.
This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.
New Objects
Power Box
- Price: §0 - Category: Misc. Electronics/Misc. Appliances - Includes 3 original swatches + 1 recolorable option (3 channels) - Poly Count: 274
Water Pipes
- Price: §0 - Category: Misc. Plumbing - Includes 3 original swatches + 1 recolorable option (3 channels) - Poly Count: 1065
Utilities
The Power Box controls power and the Water Pipes control water (self explanatory :p). Both utility objects are free in buy mode in the Misc. Electronics tab and Misc. Plumbing tab, respectively.
Once placed down on your lot, you can enable one or both utilities. When the utilities are enabled, power and/or water will be cut off to certain objects on your lot until you "Turn On" the Power Box and/or Water Pipes.

While the utilities are on, your sims will be charged between §1 - §3 simoleons for every 10 minutes they use an object that requires a utility, with the charge varying based on the size of the object. The total cost will be added to your next household bill.
If you want to opt out of the utilities system, just use the “Disable Power Utility” and “Disable Water Utility” interactions available on the utility objects.
The utilities system only applies to the active household.
A full list of all of the objects affected by the Power Box and Water Pipes utilities and their usage costs can be found on the mod download page.
Utility Costs and Usage
To check how much you've spent on utilities during the current billing cycle (between when you pay your bills and the next bill payment), click on the "Check Utility Usage" interaction on either utility.

To see your full utilities breakdown, use the new "Check Utility Costs" interaction on the computer.
Also included in the full utilities breakdown is a Green Energy Rebate total.
This total calculates how much money a lot saves by using the Solar Panels and Wind Turbines from the Sims 3 Store and factors that into the total utilities cost.
The full utilities breakdown also shows up when your sim pays their bills.

Lack of Funds
If your household funds fall below the usage cost of a utility, that utility will be shut off and cannot be turned back on until your funds are sufficient.
Bill Delinquency
If you’re late on paying your bills, your utilities will get shut off. Both utilities will be shut off when your bills are two days old.
Tuning
All of the tunable values can be found on the mod download page under the header “Tuning”.
Script Namespace
If you want to turn another object into a power or water utility, open your desired object in s3pe and replace the current script name with the following:

Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Twinsimming.Utilities.Water Pipes
Conflicts & Known Issues
These are new scripted objects so there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

School Additions (Call In Sick + Manually Attend After School Clubs)
I got the idea for calling in sick from the 'mods I wish existed' thread on MTS and the after school club portion was added because I wanted a way to still send my sims even if they attended school using ultimate careers. I hope you all enjoy!
Requirements:
Base Game Compatible. If you don't have EP4, the after school club interactions won't show.
No mod requirements.
Made on version 1.67.
Recommended:
Echoweaver's Symptoms for seasons
Olomaya's school council mod + school activity
My cheerleading mod + school activity
Ultimate Careers Cross-Compatibility:
To accommodate for UC, your sim must phone in sick before 7am. This is regardless of if you're actually using the mod to send your sims to school or not. As long as you have the mod installed, it counts.
If you're using the original Zerbu version instead of the updated version, the 7am deadline still applies but you won't see the greyed out tooltips in-game to remind you of it.

Calling In Sick
Phone Interactions found under 'School' path.
By default: children must ask an older sim to call for them while teens can either ask or call for themselves. This is XML tuneable.
Sim must have either 'sick' or 'fake sick' buffs.
Older household sims can call in for younger sims if they have 'sick' buffs.
School children and teens can try to convince older household members that they need to stay home due to sickness. They don't need to be sick to use this interaction.

Success depends on the traits and buffs of both sims.
Many of these values can be tuned via. the XML.
See the download page for which buffs count as sick/fake sick.
Attend After School Clubs Manually
Since you can't attend after school clubs unless you've been at school that day, I needed a way to manually send my sims to attend them. (Handy if they've been off sick or if you are using the UC mod for school).

Click on the school within club hours and send your sim to their club.
Conflicts:
This is a pure script mod, so it shouldn't conflict with any other mods.

Oni28's Blueberry Cheesecake for TS3
I've been sitting on this for days because, well, 'real life'... Anyways, it's done. You can check this and this post for further info and more pictures.
The cake can be purchased from the catalogue and a single slice can be bought from a food register. But I haven't check the Rabbit Hole Grocery Store. It also comes with a recipe book and a custom buff which are documented in the posts linked above. Two versions: A BGC one with a recipe requiring eggs, fruits (if there's no blueberry) and cheese. And a Baker's Basket version with a recipe requiring creme cheese, sugar and fruits (if there's no blueberry) which is shown in the screenshot above.
The cooking process in this post is for BGC version. Baker's Basket version has a slightly different process. During testing, upon eating the cake Gigi was so delighted she wanted to learn the recipe which amused me quite a bit so I included the screenshot of it.
Both versions require Custom Cake Connector and CCloader. Baker's Basket version additionally requires, well, Baker's Basket. You ONLY need ONE version since they're exactly the same except ingredients and cooking process which will conflict if you have both.
Technical details for the nerds: I changed the UVMap of the cake to make room for the serving tray. The berries and their sauce beds are decimated to acceptable levels. Polys are 734 for the cake and 138 for the slice. One thing to note, Baker's Basket already have a recipe for Blueberry Cheesecake. Still, the meshes and the textures are really different. Also, this one's recipe book costs §150 and requires level 5 of cooking skill. So you can easily sort them out. Have fun. And let me know if things are not right.

Homebaked Bread Mod
I like bread. I want my Sims to be able to make bread without needing multiple ovens, but also have to knead dough in the process.

So I made this mod - a new "Bake Bread..." interaction that allows you to bake bread recipes using the Baker's Station kneading animations, but done so on a counter, and then cooked in a regular oven.
This mod is a pure script mod that adds the new interaction to fridges, and includes 4 bread recipes that can be cooked in this way:
Homebaked Sourdough
Homebaked Rye
Homebaked Baguette
Homebaked Challah
All have ingredients Egg and Flour from Echoweavers wheat and flour mod if you have it.
The first 3 are cloned versions of the Baker's Station's breads (they don't affect the original ones), made to be compatible with this mod.

The challah is a cloned version of my challah recipe converted from TS4, made compatible with this mod (also does not affect the original, see below if you don't have the Challah & Matzo Ball Soup Mod).
There are some technicalities about these recipes that make things work a bit differently to normal, but I'll put that under the cut, as well as information on making Homebaked-Bread-Compatible recipes.

REQUIRES CC Loader
REQUIRES the Baker's Station item from the store, for both the kneading animations as well as the bread recipe models. But it won't crash the game without it ;)
Notes on these recipes:
For these recipes to only show up under the mod's interaction, they are not "Learnable" recipes. So they work similar to the store recipes in that they can't be learnt from a recipe book, they don't count towards a Sim's learnt recipes, and I think a few other small things which I'm not sure of. Shouldn't be a big deal but I just wanted to mention that.
Specifically for the Challah, my original version of the recipe has a level 2 recipe book. You can have both the original and the HB recipe installed as they are technically separate recipes, but the regular version (under the EA cooking interaction) will use the original cooking process and require the recipe book, whereas the HB version will just require skill level 2 and will use the kneading animations. If you don't have the original challah mod installed, you'll need the challahFiles package as well.
The cooking process looks the same for all HB recipes - Sims get the dough from the fridge, knead it on a counter, put it in a baking dish, and cook it in the oven. The only difference are the raw/cooked models used in the baking dish.
Adding new Homebaked Bread recipes:
Mostly the same as making regular custom recipes, just with a few extra steps to make it an HB recipe.
Make your recipe as normal with CC Loader (alternatively add your recipe to the recipes XML included in this mod)
The Recipe_Key must include "HBBread"
Learnable set to False
Must have a custom cooking process which Recipe_Class refers to
For the cooking process, I suggest using one of mine as a base as there are only a couple of things that need changing then: The line Models contains the only things that can be customised for the cooking process - the raw dough model in the baking tray, the cooked bread in the baking tray, and the burnt bread in the baking tray. The easiest thing is to have the first as the dough (WOFridgeDough), and the second and third as the recipe's serving model with the default and burnt material states. But if you want to have extra models, you can of course.
Even more notes:
For NoFridgeShopping simmers, there's a tuning value in the zoeoe_BakeBreadMod_Tuning XML to turn on NoFridgeShopping. As you might expect, with this set to True, Sims will require the ingredients to bake the breads, and they will be greyed out without them. You can either change this with S3PE or NRaas Retuner under Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.zoeoe.BakeBreadMod.Main.
Fun fact: yet another mistake in EA's Baker's Station recipe data - the sourdough and rye breads have the same textures (both use rye ones) because they didn't set the material state name for the sourdough bread. My HB versions use the right textures, but if you want to fix the BS ones, just change the "breadRoundRye" to "breadRoundSourdough" where the sourdough single and group models are defined in the CCMerged RMLS resource.

Fully Reclourable Xylophone
One of my first mods ever was to make the basegame toys recolourable. I didn't upload those, partly because there were other mods to the same effect. (Mspoodle, for example, made the pegbox recolourable.) However, @echoweaver was looking for more historical-compatible xylophones. So here's my edit.
It used to be a default replacement, but it was no longer working. I made it a standalone instead, but it still uses most textures from the ingame xylophone.

Into The Future Soil Rugs With Additional Invisible Presets - default replacement

This was requested by @echoweaver (sorry it took me so long to upload!). I added a second invisible preset to all five ITF soil rugs so they are a bit more versatile. I decided against replacing the original texture with an empty one because I didn't want it to mess up pre-built houses in Oasis Landing, so instead I added a new preset. Because of that, I had to edit the .OBJD resources along with the textures, so if you're using these hiders by @bioniczombie, make sure to delete the hiders for these rugs!

Very Late Simblr Gratitude Day
I was barely active this past Gratitude Day because of an evil stomach bug and my wisdom teeth extraction, so my apologies to my beloved mutuals and everyone who took some time to give me a heads up that day. I'll be answering you little by little, but I wanted to make this post first.
I felt welcome since day one and honestly? That was super overwhelming (I'm shyyy) because I didn't know how to react to that level of kindness, but little by little I started to open up. The way people support each other made me think "yeah, I want to do that too!" and make people feel as comfortable as the community did with me. I see it as a little, unconscious positivity chain that I value very much.
I cannot stress enough how happy I am in this chaotic simblr community, mainly because it does work and feels like a real one. Not even in my personal social media I've seen these levels of interaction, support and fun between people. Sure, there are ups and downs, but all and all I still think this is my happy place and it's all because of you: The talent, creativity, chaos, fun, humor and cooperation is incomparable to me. That's why I don't leave.
I know I haven't been very active this past year and a half, but I hope that'll change soon. Since it's also Christmas Eve in this side of the globe, I wish you all have some nice and peaceful holidays.
