TikTok (asshole of the world, I know, I’m sorry I’m subjecting you to it) has discovered the term ‘lavender marriage’ and decided to shift the definition to mean a man sinisterly pretending to be straight and using his hapless oblivious wife to as a beard and also applied this term to any couple where the husband has any interest in interior design, expresses emotions or acts like a human being in a domestic partnership instead of a douchebag. I know I made a post about it but I’m astounded by the new wave of homophobia I’m seeing creep into the public consciousness.

i think it's funny when people say "yeah the writers use they/them for this character but that doesn't necessarily mean the character is nonbinary" because i guess it's true but by that logic i can say "yeah this character is referred to with he/him but they never say he's a man so i can do whatever i want" which i may actually start doing because it sounds based as fuck. if you want me to believe that action hero is a man maybe you should've been more direct about it smh.

I think using archaic terms to get around censorship should be the norm. Calling rape ‘grape’ or using the grape emoji is ridiculous, if they’re not going to let us use the correct terminology, let’s go back to saying ‘outraged’. Calling murder ‘unaliving’ or ‘m-word’ is also fucking ridiculous. Let’s start using ‘slain’ again. They can’t ban ‘slay’ and ‘slayed’ because it is such a ubiquitous slang term that going back to the other meaning of the word would be a perfect way to skirt the censors.

you can't stop me from calling myself aromantic even when i don't deny the possibility that i personally may be able to feel romantic attraction under specific circumstances. my personal experience doesn't invalidate yours but go off i guess?? like, i literally don't care for finding an adequate microlabel when aromantic/arospec/aroallo is literally right there, it's not like i'm out here claiming that all aros are like me smh

Huh, it's almost like society, both socially and financially, is set up to specifically benefit people who have monogamous relationships and get married and punish people who don't partner or get married. It's almost like there are financial benefits that exist specifically to incentivize people to get married and have kids and be a nuclear family. It's almost like it was very culturally normal until very very very recently to just not have any deeper platonic relationships after you get married, meaning that single people past a certain age just get left behind and get treated as spinsters or loser bachelors. It's like life just is not designed for single people to be able to easily participate and survive while still being single. Huh, very weird. I'm sure marriage will fix this.

An aro moment:

Me, walking with my mother on the street. I look at the nice bushes nearby, when I spot a funny looking pigeon I giggle a bit. Then my mom says "Do you find him handsome?" I reply with a enthusiastic nod after all, the pigeon did look like a handsome but dumb looking bird. She then continues "yes yes he was a nice looking young man". I ask full surprised what guy is she talking about???

It turns out ,I full on ignored a supposedly nice looking guy in favor of a lovely (and really handsome) Columba palumbus.

Saw something that pissed me off so imma just say this

Yes, aplatonic is a fairly niche/small label as of right now. Yes, a lot of people don't tend to know about it - it's fine. In an ideal world yes aplatonicy would be more known, but it's not. It's okay to not know everything, so sometimes yeah you might make an ignorant slipup. And again, that's okay.

HOWEVER.

If you, the moment an aplatonic person says "hey [x thing you said] wasn't really cool towards aplatonic people and was kinda exclusionary, you should rethink that" and YOU go "No it's okay for me to say this because that's a niche label, therefore I'm allowed to be as exclusionary and mean and stubborn in my mindset as I want" you are Not being a fucking ally, you're being aphobic lmao.

Same goes for other 'niche' labels btw! Someone telling you to rethink something you said because it might offend a group of people is NOT them calling you a bad, horrible fucking person, don't treat it like that! :]
