I paid for these two early in the year, just after a strike of inspiration. Loved the way both artists managed to convey the ship beautifully.
Artists are Say Chikito and @jisatsuTEATIME on Twitter.

Beyond lockpicking: learn about the class-breaks for doors, locks, hinges and other physical security measures
Tumblr media
Deviant Ollam is runs a physical security penetration testing company called The Core Group; in a flat-out amazing, riveting presentation from the 2017 Wild West Hackin’ Fest, Ollam – a master lockpicker – describes how lockpicking is a last resort for the desperate, while the wily and knowledgeable gain access by attacking doors and locks with tools that quickly and undetectably open them.
Ollam’s techniques are just laugh-out-loud fantastic to watch: from removing the pins in hinges and lifting doors away from their high-security locks to sliding cheap tools between doors or under them to turn thumb-levers, bypass latches, and turn handles. My favorite were the easy-exit sensors that can be tricked into opening a pair of doors by blowing vape smoke (or squirting water, or releasing a balloon) through the crack down their middle.
But more than anything, Ollam’s lecture reminds me of the ground truth that anyone who learns lockpicking comes to: physical security is a predatory scam in which shoddy products are passed off onto naive consumers who have no idea how unfit for purpose they are.
When locksport began, locksmiths were outraged that their long-held “secret” ways of bypassing, tricking and confounding locks had entered the public domain – they accused the information security community of putting the public at risk by publishing the weaknesses in their products (infosec geeks also get accused of this every time they point out the weaknesses in digital products, of course).
But the reality is that “bad guys” know about (and exploit) these vulnerabilities already. The only people in the dark about them are the suckers who buy them and rely on them.
So when Ollam reveals that thousands of American cop cars, fleet cars, and taxis can all be unlocked and started using a shared key that you can literally buy for a few bucks at Home Depot, or that most elevators can be bypassed with a similarly widely available key, or that most file cabinets and other small locks can be opened with a third key, or that most digital entry systems can be bypassed in seconds with a paperclip (or another common physical key), he’s doing important (and hilarious!) work.
He’s such an engaging speaker and the subject matter is nothing short of fantastic. There are a hundred heist novels in this talk alone. It’s definitely my must-watch for the week.

“So, in conclusion, we learned that stealing someone else’s work is bad, even if you’re an incredibly popular Japanese twink. That’s it. Video over. No need to check the time stamp.
But just one more thing. Just, give me a second. How did Light’s true crime podcast get info about these prominent people getting murdered in the first place? They’re all super recent, an hour or two after each one is officially announced. I wanted to end the video here, but I did a little digging into his sources. And you know what I found out? A lot, actually!”
-flips over chalkboard, revealing red string conspiracy board-
Chapter 3: Light Yagami Is Definitely A Murderer
Death Note AU where hbomberguy makes a five hour long video about youtuber Light Yagami that's initially completely unrelated to the murders (Light would probably plagiarize or have really unhinged right-wing political takes if he was on youtube)
but halfway through he reveals that while researching he stumbled upon evidence that Light might be behind the Kira murders, and then spends like fourty minutes explaining the concept of a shinigami, an hour explaining how he thinks Light used one to commit murders, and then another hour explaining Light's ideology and why the concept of criminals being inherently evil is flawed
He finishes the video by addressing Light directly and telling him that he (Hbomberguy) had his name legally changed before uploading the video, to something that only he knows, making it impossible for Light to kill him

“Yes, hello, small child, you are the Gallifreyan equivalent of 2 months old, please put your head in the Madness Hole of Rassilon”
when time lords are kids, they make them look into the untempered schism and maybe go mad from it
and i tell you
the amount of restraint it took for the high council to not call that fucking thing the hole of rassilon is impressive

“With the upcoming NTFL season on the rise, let’s interview the R.E.D support trio on the legacy they carry!”
Whoo! Finally finished this, I really wanted to make a magazine cover. It’s surprisingly harder than it looks LMAO
I know they’re finalized designs aren’t out yet but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve been a bit slow getting the sponsorships and logos put on, so in the meantime I may just make stuff like this as I avoid the things that actually need to be done for this au

Alternate idea - Danny tells everyone it’s James, ESPECIALLY post-mortem, because it’s much better than letting a certain fruitloop know his middle name is in fact Vladimir.
On a train for the next 4 hours so I’m going gremlin mode while everyone’s still asleep.
First order of business: Danny’s middle name? I get that the phandom has made it James cuz back in the day, people subconsciously went, “Middle name? I guess…James rolls off the tongue well? Idk why, but it works” and then it caught on, and don’t get me wrong I will always call him Daniel James Fenton in all my fics, but can we just all agree it would be objectively really funny if say Jack had to sign the birth certificate but forgot what middle name they agreed on, so he just didn’t put a middle name there and so Danny’s whole life he thinks his middle name is James and then one day he takes a look at his birth certificate and it’s like nah bitch you’re Daniel Fenton. James who? So then Danny just thinks his parents gaslighted him into thinking he has a middle name and he’s too afraid to ask if he or they hallucinated it into existence so he just. Never says anything.

A fanfic that is seemingly just a "Danny in the my hero world" type crossover but very slowly over time Danny has a few moments out of character or reference things he shouldn't know, even once making a joke about being the wrong show, until it's revealed that actually, this is just All For One's white haired kid who watched pre-quirk cartoons growing up and decided to use their multi quirk powers as if they were Danny Phantom.

Heavens above, it has been a while, hasn’t it? Sorry about that, new job is very energy draining. Ah well, let’s crack on regardless!
Rules: tag 9 people you’d like to get to know better
3 Ships: Phantom Rocker, obviously enough I would hope, IzuMina, because damn it, it works on so many levels as a narrative engine and it’s cute as all hell, and Azulaang, because every other Avatar we’re aware of has had a Fire Nation spouse, and you don’t get to escape that, Aang.
First ever ship: I think it might have been Batman/Harley Quinn. I remember my 5 year old brain watching that one episode where Harley was released legitimately that ended with her giving him a sweet peck, before deciding nah, not enough, and full on made out with Bats, and just had some very specific neurons activated. I maintain to this day that it’s a solid ship, and if Bruce had found her before the Joker did? Oh wow, they’d be VERY good for one another.
Last song: Back And Forth by Doctor Steel.
Last movie: Hidden Fortress! Thank god a London cinema is running a season of Akira Kurosawa films, thus making me look more sophisticated and cultured, otherwise I’d have to go with the one before that, which was Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150.
Currently reading:  Fiction, Book of the New Sun, a so far very well-written bit of science-fantasy that is leaning very hard, but very subtly into the unreliable narrator and off hand exposition. Biggest criticism so far is two of the three or so women introduced so far have just... decided to flash the protagonist? For no real reason? And it reads a lot like wish-fullfilment to me. Non-fiction, Codebreaking: A Practical Guide, a very good starting point for learning offline cryptography, code writing and breaking.
Currently watching: Some classic Doctor Who. Colin Baker was robbed, the man is fantastic.
Currently consuming: My own homemade chicken in black bean sauce! Which is more like black bean paste, since I got the proportions of some things wrong.
Currently craving: Cuddles. I love a good set of cuddles.
Tag, only other person I interact with on this platform!
@brokeitwiththepowerofmathamatics
@myeaglesong tagged me in this “get to know me” thing. Thank you so much! I went ahead and started a new strand, but here’s my answers.😊
Rules: tag 9 people you’d like to get to know better
3 Ships: Bagginshield, Nandermo, Haddotin
First ever ship: Going off first ever ship I wrote for…Luigi x Daisy
Last song: Unforgettable by Godsmack
Last movie: Sing
Currently reading:  Bagginshield tag on AO3
Currently watching: Brooklyn 99
Currently consuming:  Just ate some tacos😋
Currently craving: My bed…(and the ability to walk again but that part should be coming soon!!)
Tagging (to get to know all you better!): @a-boar-named-barry @messandahalf10too @ninjaspoi @iheartthilbo @consultingpacha @ye3honk @frosticenow @the-girl-with-the-algebra-book and @weasley-detectives

"Pennyworth, stop wasting time!" Damien fumed, following the butler as strode with purpose to his own quarters. "I hardly think whatever little trinkets you've sequestered away can match anything down in the cave, and father needs help now!"  "Tell me, Master Damien," Alfred asked, casually undercutting the young man's ire. "What were you able to uncover about me?"  "... What?"  "I have always been with Master Bruce, such that he never felt the need to check into my past," Alfred expounded, opening the door to his rooms and walking in, followed by the boy. "The other occupants of the manor were lost youths, idealists or otherwise simply not inclined to look too hard at the kindly butler who dressed their wounds and fed them. But YOU were raised amongst the League of Assassins, taught to look for and expect betrayal at every turn, no matter how unlikely the source. And you've been quite curt with me since arriving. So what did you find, young master?"  "... nothing," Damien replied guardedly. "Which only made me more suspicious. The records were all perfect, but sparse. It was your references that made me the most wary. A single previous employer as a butler, and a notorious recluse at that. Nobody anyone could talk to, since said employer died years ago. Something about it all felt wrong." "Most perceptive," the older man complimented. "Yes, sometimes perfection can be a clue in itself. Prior to my employment with the Wayne's, Alfred Pennyworth did not exist." Alfred's face took on mild amusement as he watched the young Robin drop immediately into a fighting stance. "Oh, do stop that, Master Damien, I'd hardly tell you any of this if I intended to do you or Master Bruce harm. On the contrary, I assure you, this will help immensely." "Explain," Robin spat, his posture no less tense than before. It was all Alfred could do to not chuckle. "Before I chose this life, I was not unlike Master Bruce," Alfred continued. "I lead the life of a vigilante, but of a much different sort to your father. I had a grand network of spies and agents, all sworn to my bidding in a war against crime. I was vengeful, letting a single minded ideal of justice drive me to uncover many schemes and vile plots. Criminals fell by my hand by the dozens. And that, in the end, was the problem." The butler sighed as he rummaged under his bed. "Murder, even murder done in the name of justice, is corrosive to the soul. I found myself growing crueler without meaning or purpose, treating my trusted agents like disposable tools, slaughtering even the pettiest of criminals with the harshest measures. It wasn't until a man I counted as my staunchest ally abandoned me that I realised what I had become. And I could continue no more. I sought a life of quiet service instead. I used what contacts I had remaining to craft this persona and sought employment with the Wayne's, whom I had high hopes of - all of Thomas and Martha's plans for Gotham, I thought perhaps I could assist them in some small way, help make the city better through more indirect means than through a gun. And then both the Wayne's were killed in front of their son. And I knew the look in that boys eyes far too well to mistake it for anything else." "... And what look was that?" Damien asked, cautiously, lowering his hands minutely. This... did explain a few things, he'd admit. "The same single minded ideal, the same urge to protect and avenge," Alfred said gravely, finally removing an old suitcase. "I knew, no matter what happened, he would not be deterred from his path. I knew because nothing could have stopped me either. So instead of the life I sought, a life of charities and fundraisers and fixing the problems of the city through infrastructure, I found myself in the unique position to shape and mold a better crime fighter. One who would not make the same mistakes I did, the same easy choices that lead to ruin. I've never been prouder of anything than Master Bruce's career as both Batman and the face of the Wayne Foundation." Robin watched with now naked fascination as Alfred's face snapped from its paternal fondness into something harder, more focused. "But, the man who has taken your father is an old problem of mine. One which requires answering an old question." "Ques-" Damien began, before Alfred snapped the suitcase open and he gasped. He knew what was in there. He couldn't not. Not knowing the history of Gotham as he did. The cloak. The hat. The ring. "Yes," Alfred almost laughed. Not the usual warm chuckle when the man deigned to emote. Something cold and cruel. "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?"
