"True." Elise conceded with a quiet voice, a little offput by the tone and attitude of the Mer. Though she had trouble imagining why anyone would come to Winterhold if it wasn't for the College. And eventually trade or visiting a relative. She would have apologised, but somehow she doubted he would mind much.
She continued to look at him for a moment, frowning slightly as she considered his equipment and attitude. If he had been out there for three days hunting trolls of all things, surely he was versed in surviving in the wilderness, and in dire need of coin indeed.
A slight smile formed on Elise's lips. Maybe apologies were required.
"I'm sorry for that." She started with her smile growing larger. "Maybe I can offer you a drink to make up for it? It should help after spending so much time out there, this time of year."
Well, maybe he wasn’t as polite as Elise would have thought at first, although as she watched him walk past her, she admitted there was no reason to blame him for his tone. It was hard to sound very warm when the air outside was this cold.
The bag intrigued her as much as the looks of the Mer, Elise following him to the fire once most of the snow was shaken off her cloak. She could hear him curse the land as she stood next to him, warming her hands, and snickered.
"New to Skyrim, or simply Winterhold?" she asked, an amused smile on her lips. "While you’re here, you may as well try to have your cloak enchanted to keep you warmer, because it is often sorely needed during winter."

What?
What an odd question to ask, she thought, Elise giving a puzzled glance at Adelein as she sat herself with her meal of dried fruits, bread eggs and some tea. That she wanted to know who she was, it was understandable. But wasn't it obvious regarding the College?
"Well..." She started slowly, brushing a lock of blond hair away from her face. "I came her to study... My name is Elise Brelle, and I am from Menevia, in High Rock, and just... I wasn't quite satisfied with my tutors over there... I moved to Cyrodiil, joined the Synod, and found it even worse. Only Winterhold seemed like a viable possibility regarding..." Well, regarding what? Even she couldn't always tell, as it was true the College was still pretty conventionnal. "Interesting and new theories." Elise finally breathed. "Well, without having to go to Black Marsh and try to understand the Hists, or things like this."
She then considered the strange woman a bit more closely, frowning slightly. She WAS unusual. She'd remember seeing her now and then in the hallways, but had never approached or even heard the sound of her voice until now. "What about you?" she risked, placing her precious book on the table, patting the cover gently.. "You talk of having knowledge regarding that kind of work. Is it why you came to Skyrim?"
ONE way. That woman simply dropped those words as if it was barely anything, and then walked away, not seeming to mind Elise all that much. And the young mage was hooked now, following Adelein like a shadow.
"What do you mean ONE way?" she asked in a hushed, almost irritated tone. "What of the others then? Spells? Soul gems? Bound sentient beings? I couldn’t find even the beginning of anything on the subject. Granted, I haven’t been exactly searching a lto, but…"
She stopped as a couple of mages walked past them, busy exanching a few words on a paper they were cowriting, Elise taking a deep breath. She had the strange sensation of doing something utterly wrong, even though she was just… Discussing a theory with a fellow mage… Because that was what she was doing, right?

"I see." Elise mumbled with a slight frown, crossing her arms. "Well... No pun intended, of course..."
A part of her mind couldn't help but sigh. There she had done it again. What did it matter if it was "illusion" or not, anyway? What mattered was how it worked, in the end. It was deplorable so many mages never really bothered questioning those classifications.
"In any case, I would... I mean." She stopped in the middle of her sentence, unsure wether it was appropriate or not to ask this so bluntly. But after all, she had known for years that she wouldn't progress without being a little straight-forward. "Forgive me if it's rude, but I would really like to have any notes you have regarding this spell, or enchantment... Provided you have any. I know it must be something pretty dear to you, but I would love to be able to study such a spell. I know... Certain persons afflicted with blindness."
Elise frowned, slightly confused. Not an Illusion spell?
"But it does affect your mind and senses to convey informations, right? I’m sorry, I’m just terribly curious, I don’t mean to be pushy… Perhaps you would have notes on the subject? I would be very interested to study this spell."

Note
Imp stool - Body language headcannon.
Elise is rather reserved and calm in nature, and this tends to reflect in her body language, much like mages with a similar character. Just like she is soft-spoken, her momevents are usually discreet and quiet. Most of her “body” language passes through her expressions. Still, there are a few things that are worthy of note.
Usually, when speaking with a colleague or a superior, she will tend to keep her back very straight, often tilting it a little backward when looking up rather than simply tilting her head only, athough this is mostly due to her size. When she thinks or ponders about something while talking, she often crosses her arms while keeping a hand at mouth level, a finder often tracing her lower lip. When nervous, she will tend to fidget with her hand or an item, or cross her arms. Regarding this gesture, she tends to keep her hands flat on her forearms, rather than tucking them in the nook of the elbows.
However, this is not always so. It happened a few times, often during excavations and periods of great stress, that she looses the control of her body language and starts gesticulating. This is often accompanied by a high-pitched voice due to that very same stress. It’s not quite to the point of flailing her arms helplessly, but if she were to, say, enter a heated argument while there is a flock of draugrs around, she’s most likely knock an urn over or something.
