Hi Mr Gaiman!
What’s your opinion on people saying someone is only a real fan of something if they consumed all of the available media of that thing? (e.g. “you aren’t a real fan of sandman if you only watched the netflix series”)
I feel like more and more people do this to sort of gate keep otherwise amazing fandoms and personally i think it’s quite sad to see.
As I posted on a more or less dead site a couple of years ago:

Sandman was my first exposure to trans people, the way you wrote Wanda……I felt horrible for her when her nightmares were of having to undergo surgery to be a woman and I wanted to scream at her parents when they dressed her in a suit and put her deadname on her gravestone. I was 14 and reading it in the library in a very conservative area, and I never knew being trans was possible before that.
I consider it to be, if not *the* reason, one of the reasons I’m such a staunch supporter of the trans community. I was 14 years old and it opened my eyes to a whole community I knew nothing about. Thank you for your writing, it changed my life. I don’t care if you respond to this but I wanted you to know how big of a difference writing one person in a comic made to me.
I’m glad it helped.
And that really is why people are trying to ban books and gut libraries now. Because ideas are dangerous and they can invoke empathy.

Hi Neil,
Regardless of if you ever see this I’ll be happy the sentiment was put there.
As I got into adulthood I lost touch with many of my interests and hobbies. Things like study and work seemed to take over my life and I forgot about many of the things I enjoyed that kept me sane as a child.
But after watching and reading Good Omens I’ve done 4 things:
1. Picked up the piano again after 10 years not playing just so I could learn the theme song. I’ve been at it for months and I’m usually terrible at sticking to things but I’ve promised a friend we are going to do a duet with them playing the kazoo so I have to now obviously
2. I started to draw again on a regular basis
3. I started to write again for the first time since I was a kid and found I actually have quite a passion for it. I’d like to publish at least one book some day with my own illustrations
4. I retuned to tumblr and was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful fandom who all love this story as much as I do. And I think it’s wonderful you are also here to watch us all adore it. And so that we can send our appreciation back to you and everyone else involved in making it come to life.
The love and care you and Terry have put into it is so clear. This story and seeing how you interact with the fandom reminded me of how important story telling and creation is to the world. And its lead me back to many things I’d thought I had lost. So thanks to you and every other creative out there, it’s easy to get stuck in our bubble and think what we’re putting out there doesn’t matter. But if you or Terry had given in to that kind of thinking we wouldn’t have Good omens! And that’s something I like to think about when I doubt what I make.
That makes me very happy.

Hey Neil,
Know you probably won't see this but really wanted to share this with someone
I'm a film student and want to go into the industry but there's one lecturer who just constantly puts me down and makes me question if I'm good enough, passionate enough or even active enough to the point it makes me question why I'm on the course and reminds me why I didn't sign up to her specific part of the course
I love the film industry, I love the production process and interested in roles like production manager, production assistant and even assistant director but this one lecturer seems to know exactly how to put me down and make me feel I'm no good and will never get into the industry at all... there was an opportunity to do a training scheme and I had booked a meeting with her about about it and she cancelled the meeting which made me miss the deadline and now can't apply for it until 2025
I want to go into the film industry because I do have a passion and drive for it but in a single 30 minute session she's managed to make me feel like I have no value to the industry and I just don't know what to do with myself because of it and it hurts because I don't want people like her to have this effect on me..
I just feel so lost at the moment..
Hope you're having a good day and remember to stay hydrated đź’Ş
There are poisonous people out there. If you can, avoid them. If you can't, minimise their involvement in your life. Treat them like vampires and don't let them in. Go around them if you possibly can.
You'll have a great career in film.

Hello Mr. Gaiman! You said that season 3 would not be romantic and then that the ending would not be good (on Twitter) why is that? Sorry I have a lot of questions
Just trying to give the people what they want.

J. K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman are such a funny contrast to me, like Rowling: Oh, and by the way, I put gay characters in my books. People: Is there anything... showing that? Rowling: No. Also trans women don't deserve respect People: wtf Gaiman: Here are some immortals that transcend all human concepts of gender and attraction who use a variety of pronouns, and also some clearly canon human queers. People: Are the immortals queer? Gaiman: That is an entirely valid way to view them. Other people: Ugh, pushing a modern woke agenda. It used to be- Gaiman: Fuck you

Reading a Terry Pratchett book is literally just: Here's a funny little joke Here's something that you can tell is a joke but don't get and will only figure out five years later Here's a surprisingly cool fantasy concept Here's a unique and well written simile Here's a lil guy Here's something that has aged depressingly well into the modern day Here's something that has aged remarkably queer into the modern day Here's a character that you can barely understand what he's saying Here is the most terrifying and deeply disturbing concept you have ever heard, casually mentioned Here is the dumbest fucking pun you've ever heard but in the best way Here is a quote so profound that it makes you view morality and the world in a different way Here is a plot twist that you can't tell if it's genius or stupid Congratulations! You've finished the book! It has fundamentally changed you as a person and you will never be the same!
