I find it hard to believe in fanfiction that Lily Evans does NOT know that Remus is a werewolf.
1. She is very smart
2. They are in the same year and house (ie they have the same schedule)
3. If she hadn’t been suspicious before 5th year (due to the above reasons) when Snape began communicating his theory about Remus, his constant obsession and comments would be sure to keep it on the forefront of her mind. PLUS this is the year their schedules become even more similar (prefect duties which would certainly give her a unique insight into Remus’s illness schedule).
I know she tells Snape that his theory is silly and that he ought to drop his investigations, but I’m sure Lily did this to protect Remus, not because she was ignorant to his ailment.

Where do people get this idea that Severus Snape turned Death Eater because of James Potter??
I’ll write a more elaborate post another day but as we see in the Prince’s Tale, only one person’s path ‘changed’ from his encounter with James and that’s Sirius ‘my whole family has been in Slytherin’ / ‘maybe I’ll break the tradition’ Black.
Severus ‘you better be in Slytherin’ Snape wanted to be in Slytherin and ended in Slytherin. Severus ‘she’s only a [muggle]’ Snape continued to believe muggles had less worth.
Lily doesn’t stop being friends with Severus because he calls her a mudblood but because he calls everyone of her birth that. Lily and Severus’ friendship was already crumbling, as Lily points out none of her friends understand why they are friends.
We see them fight quite a bit in the Prince’s Tale. To me it feels like Severus is showing Harry how their friendship didn’t fall apart because of Lily reacting to a slip of the tongue but because of the growing gulf between them as he made choices he came to regret. Severus is not using the time to show Harry scene after scene of him and Lily being happy and James ruining that. Severus takes more accountability for his own choices than most those who defend him.
Lily and Severus might have stayed friends a little longer but as Lily herself points out: this wasn’t about one mistake, he had chosen his path and she choose her.
No, that does not mean that the bullying didn’t leave deep scars and lifelong trauma as Severus’ continued bullying of Harry proves, but Severus was always going to be thrown into the path of his Death Eater friends.
I don’t have the scenes open in front of me so quotes might be a little off.

I feel I should specify when I talk about the vast majority of Israelis supporting this genocide it's not to call for violence of them or even to demonise them. It's to call attention to Israel having a genocidal education system which dehumanises Palestinians from the moment Israelis start school. Ilan Pappé did a study in 1994 of the Israeli education system and raised the alarm that it would raise a generation who are even worse than those who first colonised Palestine in 1948. We're seeing the truth of that now.
I raise this point because we're seeing this attempt by politicians and the media to claim that it's just Netanyahu who is to blame for this genocide and not a systematic problem that requires boycotting, divestments and sanctions to push them to correct. This lie is being pushed because they do not want to change the status quo which allows for Israel to steal Palestinian land and homes and keep Palestinians under military occupation.

Harry told Cedric to “stop being noble,” and I think that’s the most hypocritical thing he’s ever said
(Note that this was during the third task, after Harry had already tried to rescue all of the hostages during the second)

I could go on and on listing all of the reasons I hate Severus Snape, but one that I haven’t seen mentioned before is his role in Lily and Petunia’s fallout. He calls Lily special. He calls Petunia “just a Muggle” and is actively awful to her every chance he gets. He bullies her to the point of her begging Dumbledore to let her attend Hogwarts with Lily.
I wonder whether Lily and Petunia would have maintained a good relationship, and if Petunia would have had a better relationship with the magical world if Snape hadn’t made magic a point of contention between the two of them.
Just imagine how different Harry’s life would have been if Petunia had taken in the son of her beloved sister instead of her estranged sister.
To put it in perspective, she calls James “that Potter boy” but she calls Snape “that horrible boy” which just gives you an idea of who tarnished her relationship with Magic.
And yes, she was scared of Lily’s magic at the beginning of Snape’s memory collection that Harry watches at the end of DH, but that was before anyone from Hogwarts had explained to the Evans’ that Lily was a witch and that nothing was wrong with her. Obviously I can’t say for sure that Petunia would have accepted Lily as a witch, but I am sure that Snape cemented her journey down the path of absolute hatred.
So not only did Snape deliver the prophecy to Voldemort that led to Harry being orphaned, but he also constructed the circumstances under which Harry spent his life being abused.

Was listening to ABBA while high and during One of Us, I started picturing a Mamma Mia -esque musical number at the dramatic climax of a Dramione fanfiction. In my mind’s eye, I can clearly see a wide shot of Draco in his kitchen with a glass of fire whisky singing, “feeling stupid,” followed by a cut to a wide shot of Hermione curled up with Crookshanks and sporting a tear-soaked face singing, “feeling small,” and finally a split-shot, close-in of both of them singing, “wishing he/she/we [choose based on context of story] had never left at all.” They both turn away from the camera and each other finishing, “never left at all.”

quick reminder that it’s ok to say that you love reading and that reading is your passion without reading 30+ books in a year. if you connect with books and love the power of the written word, you’re bookish. you don’t need to justify your love of reading.

Anyone have any good canon compliant, enemies-to-lovers Jily fics? I love the marauders, and I am a sucker for the Last Names Only flirting and he falls first archetypes.
(I do not want any Jegulus or Wolfstar, but other fanon ships are fine.)

Emma (2020) is probably the BEST historical movie I've seen in terms of costumes (with the exception of the 1830s style worn by Mrs Elton, though I understand the choice from a design perspective). They are extremely well researched and in some cases based on real historical garments. Alexandra Byrne did an amazing job.

Not me laughing maniacally through Much Ado (1993) every time bc it's what 60% of enemies to lovers fanfics are like (the other 40% being P&P). This is why we still love Shakespeare - we love a ridiculous enemies to lovers farce
