The 9 Main Types of Nail Guns by Application
As a commonly used tool, the nail gun is not only necessary for professional carpenters, but also gradually becoming one of the important tools for home DIY projects. If you are new to it, you may be surprised that there are nine different types of nail guns! So what kind of nail gun do I need? What’s the difference in their usage?
1.Brad Nailer Brad nailers can be used for any 15- and 16-gauge nails, it is small and easy to control. It is useful for installing thin trims and molds without splitting them. You can also use a brad nailer for small woodworking projects like a jewelry box, bird cages, etc where you do not need a lot of holding strength.
2.Framing Nailer The framing nailers are the heaviest duty nailer, so it is most ideal for framing wood in large construction projects and jobs. It can handle nails of up to 3-1/2,” which are used to join 2×4’s, and are often used to build decks, rooms, fences, wood sheathing and siding.
There are two types of framing nailers: round head and clipped head. Clipped head nailers are ideal for high volume projects because they can hold more nails. Round head framing nailers are not restricted by certain building codes, but hold fewer nails.
3.Flooring Nailer Flooring nailers have been around for longer than flooring staplers. They are also known as flooring cleat nailers in the carpentry community because they mainly use cleat nails to fasten the floorboards with.
The most common cleat nails used with flooring nailers are in gauge sizes of 16 and 18. Occasionally, nails of 20-gauge will be used for flooring as well.
4.Roofing Nailer As the name indicates, roofing nailers have one specific job, which is to work on roofs. Specifically, roofing nailers are used to nail down roof shingles.
5.Palm Nailer Palm nailers are like mini nail guns. These palm-sized nail guns work in the same way as their full-size counterparts, but on a much smaller scale. Unlike most other nailers, they can only shoot one nail at a time. The purpose of the nailers is to drive single nails into incredibly tight spaces that other nail guns would struggle to reach.
Most palm nailers are capable of driving nails between 1.5″ and 3.5″ long, but there are also heavy-duty models that can drive nails between 2″ and 6″ in length.
6.Finish Nailer Finish Nailers are use to finish carpentry or woodworking projects. If you are building furniture, doing molding, or installing trim, then you want to use a finishing nailer. The accuracy and precision of the finish nailer are essential for those sorts of jobs.
Compared to brad nailers, finish nailers can actually work with larger woods.
7.Siding Nailer A siding nailer is used to install siding. These powerful nailers join thinner pieces of wood or a synthetic material to a wooden mount.
Just like framing nailers, this type of nail gun is more suitable for projects with larger woods and materials. It is also quite a new type, as people used to use framing nailers to install siding.
8.Pin Nailer If you are into small projects and upholstery, including DIY projects, then you might want to get a pin nailer. This is the perfect nail gun to work on tiny trims, birdhouses or small crates with panels.
23-gauge pinners are mostly used to temporarily hold trim that is glued. They are also good enough for making wooden toys, and upholstery work.
9.Staple Gun A staple gun is a fastening tool that can quickly join two materials together with a remarkably durable bond. Instead of nails, it drives staples into the materials.
Knowing the different types of nail guns and what each is used for may be confusing for beginners. However, I hope this article has proved helpful in your understanding of nail guns.
Now you know the types that you might need for your projects and woodworking jobs, so you will know exactly what to get next time.

String Trimmer Purchase Guide
The weather is getting hot, and the lawn needs to be mowed frequently, but if you want to mow the lawn beautifully, a lawn mower is not enough. The corners of the lawn, or the roots of the walls, need to be processed with a string trimmer.
Tumblr media
The types of string trimmer:
1. Gas-Powered String Trimmer
The best choice for large properties, a gas-powered string trimmer goes anywhere and can run indefinitely. This type is also the most common, so you’ll have the most options when shopping if you go this route. Look for models with an adjustable handle and a translucent gas tank, so you can see when fuel is low. Models with a four-cycle engine run cleaner and use regular gas but cost more. Models with a two-cycle engine cost less, but you’ll need to add oil to your gasoline.
 2. Corded-Electric String Trimmer
While corded yard tools may seem outdated, a corded string trimmer can perform really well for a certain subset of homeowners. If you have a small yard and don’t need to trim more than 100 feet from an outlet, these are ideal. Most have a short cord and require a long outdoor-rated extension cord—you can typically find these cords in lengths up to 100 feet. Corded-electric string trimmers tend to be the cheapest, plus they start instantly and run indefinitely, and you don’t need to worry about buying gas or charging a battery.
 3. Battery-Powered String Trimmer
You’ll pay a slight premium for a battery-powered string trimmer, as compared with a gas model, but if you have a modest property, it may be worth it. In our tests, the best battery-powered models trim as well as gas, produce no emissions, and run quietly. They also start instantly every time, without fussing over the choke or yanking a pull-cord. They require far less maintenance, plus their batteries can typically be used in other outdoor power tools from the same brand, including lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and chain saws. The lifespan of the lithium-ion batteries used to power these tools is still a big unknown, so look for a long warranty that specifically applies to the battery. Expect to cut for about 30 minutes on a single charge. Most batteries take about an hour to recharge once they’ve fully drained.
4 important factors of battery-powered string trimmer:
1. The weight. Lawn trimming is a meticulous job compared to mowing large areas of grass. It requires careful trimming. The more meticulous work requires your equipment to be lighter, otherwise you will be tired after trimming for a long time.
2. The battery needs to be long-lasting. Large-capacity battery can make your work longer, without frequent battery replacement.
3. The motivation must be strong enough. In this way, even thick weeds can be easily cut off.
4. Sound as small as possible. It can minimize damage to hearing.

What are the Difference between Lawn Mower and String Trimmer?
The arrival of spring means that it is the season of mowing again. Are you still worrying about which lawn mower to choose? Do you know the difference between a lawn mower and a string trimmer?
Lawn Mower
The lawn mower is composed of a cutter head, an engine, a traveling wheel, a traveling mechanism, a blade, a handrail, and a control part. The cutter head is installed on the traveling wheel, the cutter head is equipped with an engine, and the output shaft of the engine is equipped with a blade. The blade uses the high-speed rotation of the engine to increase the speed a lot, saving the weeding worker's working time and reducing a lot of human resources. It consists of a parallel four-bar lifting device, a frame, a left and right single-wing weeding device, a complete machine deviation adjustment device, a comb-tooth rotating bevel gear speed-increasing transmission mechanism and a comb-tooth profiling depth adjustment device; the efficiency is 8 to 10 times higher than that of manual weeding, low seedling damage rate, high seedling removal clean rate.

String Trimmer
A string trimmer is used to give a lawn that perfect, well-manicured look. The string rotates at an ultra high speed when the trimmer is powered up, giving the string the capability to cut like a knife. Hedge trimmers are used to trim and sculpt hedges so they look well-shaped. Like mowers, trimmers are powered by either gas or electricity. Gas powered models are easier to maneuver and you don't have to worry about cords and electrical access. However, if you have health issues and don't want to breathe gas fumes, an electric trimmer is a good alternative. Trimmers let you make the areas around trees, shrubs, fences and garden edging neat and tidy and whack away weeds with ease. Because you will have to walk around with a trimmer, you should always try it out for size and comfort before you buy it.
Tumblr media
Difference
Among mower and trimmer, the mower is mostly used for heavy lifting and can be used to cut most of the grass. On the other hand, a trimmer is used to reduce the leftover of the mower. A string trimmer can reach the spots that are quite impossible for a mower.
You can consider having them at the same time because they play different roles. Put the power of a mower together with the maneuverability of a trimmer, you will be able to mow a very beautiful lawn!

Something You Need to Know About Electric Drills and Drill Bits Replacement
Tumblr media
Whether you are a craftsman or not, you may have used power tools, but do you know the daily working principle of electric drills and how to change the drill bits correctly?
 How are electric drills classified:
Electric drills can be divided into three categories: drill drivers, impact drills, and hammer drills. You need to choose according to your actual needs and their respective scope of use.
 1. Hammer drill:
This type of drill can produce a strong impact, accompanied by the effect of the drill. It can split stones and divide gold. And also drill holes in a variety of hard materials and has the widest application range.
 2. Drill driver:
Some electric drills can be changed into special tools according to their purposes, and there are many uses and models. The power is the smallest, and the scope of use is limited to drilling wood and acting as an electric screwdriver.
 3. Impact drill:
It can be used for natural stone or concrete, but the impact force is far less than that of electric hammer, and can be used as ordinary electric drill. There are two types of impact mechanisms for impact drills: dog tooth type and ball type. Use the gears on the inner shaft to jump to each other to achieve the impact effect.
 Correct use of electric drill:
1. Wear protective glasses when drilling holes in pig iron castings to protect your eyes. Wear a protective mask when working with the face up. The bit holder should be properly installed.
 2. The drill bit is in a hot state during operation, so be careful to burn your skin. When drilling a hand-held electric drill with a diameter of 12mm or more, a pistol drill with a side handle should be used.
 3. Standing on a ladder or working at a height should take measures for falling from a height, and the ladder should be supported by ground personnel.
 Electric drill bit replacement:
Normally, the replacement method of the above three electric drills is the same, but the drill chuck on the drill bit on them is divided into a self-tightening drill chuck and a hand-tightening drill chuck. The electric drill with a self-tightening drill chuck is used to replace the drill bit. At the same time, we need to hold the drill chuck with one hand, and turn on the reverse switch of the electric drill at the same time, so simply replace the original drill bit and use the same method to put the drill bit up. The most important thing is that the switch is forward and reverse. In order to dial back, if it is a hand-tight drill chuck, it can be replaced by opening the drill chuck key.

History of the Tools - From Stone Age to Modern Power Tools
From primitive society to today, woodworking has been closely related to human daily life. Such as wooden houses , wooden furniture for households, agricultural tools, wooden raft, ships, vehicles, and even wooden crafts in our house .They are all inextricably related to woodworking.
Therefore, the impact of woodworking tools on human life are too important to be ignored. In ancient times, there were no machinery. Carpenters used saws, axes, hammers, chisels, planers, etc. to complete various woodworking tasks. Today, with the rapid development of the technology, there is gradually a modern mechanical woodworking tools with high precision and high performance.
Tumblr media
Primitive society Woodworking tools are mainly made of stone and bone. Compound tools gradually appeared in the Neolithic Age. Stone tools such as "axes, adze, chisel, and knives" have appeared by that time. Though woodworking tools have begun to be used as a complete set, the processing capabilities of wood are still at an elementary level.
The Bronze Age bring some new occupation like professional woodworkers, turners, engravers, etc. appeared in the early Bronze Age. In the heyday of the Bronze Age, woodworkers have mastered the skills of how to create smooth wood, using grinding techniques that have been invented in the Neolithic Age. Knives and saws for cutting wood also appeared after this.
Tumblr media
In the Early Iron Age, the saws gradually became longer, the tooth on the saws tended to become clear therefor the performance of saw were further improved. The initial shovel appeared with a certain ability to make the wood more smooth.
Tumblr media
With the time going on, woodworking tools developed rapidly at this stage, steel cutting tools were gradually popularized. The hardness of the cutting tools increased, and bow saws appeared, all of which improved the wood processing ability.
Tumblr media
Then Middle Ages came, it was the peak of the development of woodworking tools. Frame saws appeared which contributed to the invention of a variety of more complex wood tools, especially the planer. The planer developed from the initial knife shape to with a handle then fixed in a pedestal.
The next few hundred years the carpenters' tools developed in a trend of how to be more accurate and subtle , but it did not seems to have too much change.
Tumblr media
With the time flow and the development of science and technology in modern days, woodworking machinery began to appear. The accuracy, stability, safety and convenience of woodworking tools have been improved greatly.
Today, in 2021, all kinds of power tool have been invented. Drived by the newest brushless motor, powered by rechargeable lithium battery, these cordless compact tools are so amazing that human being use them creating the house, the city we are living right at the moment.
Tumblr media
To conclude, the improvement of tools has greatly improved the efficiency of modern woodworking & construction operations.
