WHAT TO DO WITH EMPTY INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS

The rise and fall of different sectors and economic crises lead to the abandonment of many industrial endowments. And while the real estate market does not stop increasing its prices, in its industrial counterpart, on the contrary, the price per square meter continues to fall, with more and more empty industrial buildings.
For this reason, there are many projects that are being proposed in order to "recycle" these structures, adapting them to new uses that are most in demand today and giving them a new life.
Why are the industrial buildings abandoned?
There are various factors. On the one hand, the crisis has hit the productive sector hard. Another factor at stake is that these empty industrial buildings become obsolete and would be too expensive to update.
Even if certain sectors start to grow again now that the worst of the recession has passed, the disuse of structures leads to their degradation.
Ideally, obviously, these sectors could flourish again, but this is not always possible. At this point, it is more than reasonable to ask what kind of actions can be carried out in empty industrial buildings.
Options to convert empty industrial buildings
There are many variants that a rehabilitated warehouse can adopt in order to cover new roles that make it useful. Here are just some of the most common:
Sports facilities
More and more industrial buildings are being converted into all kinds of sports facilities. From gyms to paddle tennis clubs, climbing walls or CrossFit boxes.
The latter, without going any further, have grown 23% in Spain compared to the previous year.
The buildings destined to encompass sports activities such as those mentioned need to have a good space, which in most cases the warehouses provide. If in an urban nucleus it is very difficult to have the necessary breadth for, for example, a climbing wall, a disused warehouse on the periphery may be a great candidate.
Offices
With the proper reconversion process, an industrial warehouse can be an ideal work space.
Usually offices or studios require large open spaces in combination with other closed ones, which allow both group work and meetings, etc.
Storage rooms
The rental of storage rooms is also an increasingly popular practice. Due to the high price of housing in large cities, young people are looking to overcome the lack of space.
A partial solution to this situation is to get rid of everything that takes up space at home. There are objects that we do not want to get rid of but we do not need to have directly at hand. The solution is to store it comfortably in a storage room a few meters from our home.
The storage rooms are far away as that humid place in which to banish what we neither use nor have any plans to use. These are technician storage rooms with the relevant security systems.
