Jungwon knew it all. From when you cried in his arms to the countless times that he found you fully dressed in your bathtub, water falling from the tap and hitting your face until it spilled out onto the bathroom tiles making a mess he would always clean later.

Jungwon saw it all. He watched you act and talk with everyone like if you were the very carbon copy of a sun ray that came in to light up the world, sharing all the love and good moments like if it was your last.

Maybe it was, he always thought.

You felt it, too. The way jungwon was always there at the right time to gather all your broken pieces, fixing you for the next day.

You felt ashamed for the way that he, whatever the circumstances, came running to you each time you showed any minimal sign of not feeling well.

I don't deserve him, you always thought

Another one of those restless nights, you turned around, facing jungwon's soft features. A sigh leaves your lips

Today was tiresome for him. Taking care of your deteriorated health, his work and his own problems was enough to keep him asleep the whole night.

You caress his hair, taking up in how soft it felt between your fingers and being careful not to wake him up. But still, Jungwon's body is always on alert, causing him to open his eyes as he feels the touch of your delicate fingers on his forehead.

"I'm sorry, i didn't want to wake you up" you whisper in a soft voice, bringing your fingers to his cheek. His lips twist into a small, affectionate smile, bringing his hand to your waist and enveloping you completely in his warmth

"It's alright. Just.. hug me" a small sigh leaves his lips as he snuggles closer.

You stay still, slowly hugging his torso and putting your head on his chest to sink into his warmth and comfort.

"Thank you" you say quietly, expecting that the boy next to you heard it because of the proximity.

A confused hum leaves Jungwon's chest, inquiring what were you thankful for and the words wander through your mind, trying to form a sentence to express how grateful you are to have him by your side, taking care of you and protecting you from the darkness that consumed you slowly.

"I'm thankful that you're by my side. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but one thing I have for sure and that is that I would do anything not to lose you" you feel him move, changing his previous position to lean his elbow to support his weight and thus be able to see your face

"I'm grateful, too" you give him a confused look. "I'm grateful because you let me in your life, accepting my love. I'm thankful because we have each other"

Tears gather in your eyes and you try not to spill them, you didn't want Jungwon to worry— but he can't help it and notices them. Furrowing his brows, he caress your cheeks and kisses your forehead.

"I love you" You say the words that weigh so heavily on your chest. The simple confession is not enough to show the boy the depth of your feelings, so you hug him tighter. The fear that if you don't hold him with all your strength, his being will vanish into thin air growing in the back of your mind. Words of supplication leaves your lips, almost inaudible "Please never leave me"

"I will never leave your side. I promise" His words comfort you and his lips feel like the caresses of a feather when they connect with yours.

And in the dark of the night, you believe him. You believe him when he makes promises, because if there's one thing you're sure of about Jungwon, it's that he always keeps them. From the stupidest to the riskiest. That's one of the quirks that make him who he is.
