Ephemer Week day 1: favorite scene

I like to think Ephemer went to/was at the keyblade graveyard first not because he just so happened to be early, but because he wanted to take some time to pay his respects before meeting the other union leaders.

He must’ve felt so guilty, being unable to save everyone. Being one of the “lucky ones” chosen to escape the war, and having the responsibility of looking after the other survivors. It’s really dark when you think about it, to have to then meet up with the other leaders in the exact place where so many wielders just perished. It’s all still so fresh.

He’s the only one to enter from an indiscernible distance (center stage, if you will), walking amongst the dead keys. We don’t know how long he’s been there. Everyone else might’ve done the same thing, but I found it interesting that emphasis was put on showing him being there, alone, and I don’t think it was just because he was the first to arrive / the head of the group. The chi novel did a good job of pointing this out, albeit briefly, and gives a tiny glimpse into what he might’ve been thinking about at the time.

I also think it makes for a good parallel with Xehanort later paying his respects at the Scala graveyard, another tragedy with more victims than survivors in and of itself.

Short lived

date a guy who is polite. date a guy who’s smart and shares information with you. date a guy who befriends you despite both of you being on different teams. date a guy who takes precautions when you’re both sneaking through the sewers. date a guy who saves you from a monster. date a guy who apologizes for going on ahead without you. date a guy who stands you up on your first date because he wants to investigate what’s going on in the restricted room in the clock tower and then disappears without a trace…you know what, never mind. maybe you shouldn’t date Ephemera.

every time Ephemera apologized to Player

my thoughts on this:

no but really, Ephemera’s a really polite guy. Well-mannered and all. When he apologizes, he means it. Something to note is that the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones are all the same scene where he meets Player in a dream, after he stood them up at the fountain the previous day. Literally apologizing 3 times in one conversation, knowing that the meeting was important to Player. This is the last time they talk for a long time, until Ephemera finds them in the graveyard, and the very first thing he does is apologize again

Aside from just being polite, Ephemera knows he’s wronged Player by not being physically there for them. I wonder how many unspoken apologies he’s said to them after that, when he had to withhold so many truths from them, when he chose to carry their burdensome memories for them, when he got so busy as a leader that he didn’t get to spend much time with them

When Ephemera apologizes to them at the end, they’re not there to hear it. But you know, in his heart, he’ll forever feel that way. Haunted by all the right things he couldn’t do for them, and all the wrong things he did

You ever remember Ephemer sat and smiled softly as he told Ava about his friend who he cared for some much as friends in my heart played and remember all Ephemer and the player went through and how much they mean to each other and spontaneously burst into tears

Every time I see Ephemer, I always think of Christmas time. I think it's the style of his outfit paired with that white hair. he really just looks like a winter model for Abercrombie or something.

Anyway this is my way of saying that I love him.
