Hello! I discovered your blog not so long ago and I find your sortinghatchats art quite wonderful, so I thought I might request a moodboard for my own sorting, if that's alright. I'll ask here for my primary ones, and I'll ask the secondary ones separately, as you said to do so.
It's a messy one, so I searched some quotes that resonated with me to help you understand it better, here they go:
Burnt badger primary: "A heart’s a heavy burden." - Howl's Moving Castle
Raven primary model: "Blue! Blue! Blue!" - Patrick Rothfuss
Snake primary performance:  "And perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone." - Madeline Miller
And here it is, my kinda triple primary; I do hope it's not too complicated, but feel free to ignore it if it turns to be so. In any case, thank you for reading till here, I hope have a good day!
hello, here's the moodboard I made. As you can obviously tell, I did fixate a bit on the Howl's Moving Castle quote but. It's a good one. Tried some more interesting portrayals of a burned primary this time, hopefully they came across.

I really love your moodboards and would like to make some myself :) Do you have any tips for finding the pictures (any good websites)? Have a nice day!
I answered this a bit more in depth a while back, but to add onto it, I try to make a list of 'keywords' for a moodboard and then search on pexels/pinterest for them. If I'm finding it too difficult to get a photo with the right vibe, I either edit photos that are the wrong colors or I fallback to searching color names.

Feel free to send bird primary & badger secondary to me :)
So I have a lot of asks at the moment
Tumblr media
(and that’s not counting 17 SortMes, which I keep in a different place, which I really LIKE answering, I think it’s just a really nice way to welcome people into the system… but I get a lot of wonderful earnest questions too, and I can’t answer them all.)
I’ve started outsourcing some of them to @sevilemar at their request, and that’s worked out really great, since Sevile is a double snake and I am… not. And I think the more ways these concepts are explained, the more likely that you’ll find one that gels with you and make sense to you.
So… do any of the the other SHC writers want referrals? Seriously, give me a specific primary or secondary and I’ve got asks that go with it.

Bird Secondary (Rapid Fire) // Ravenclaw Secondary
“If a Bird is deeply embedded in their zone of expertise or area of comfort, they can problem-solve so fast that it looks like they’re improvising… but they’re not. The Rapid-Fire Bird just has a lot of knowledge and resources to call on. Move them to a different arena, where their knowledge and resources aren’t applicable, and they flounder.” - wisteria-lodge’s post

Hello! May I please request an aesthetic of Hufflepuff Primary with bat Patronus, black and sage green and cream, with ouija boards and ghosts (spooky stuff)?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, here it is. Couldn't seen to get as many pictures of spooky things while maintaining the yellow vibe, so instead i present to you candles, moons, and bats.

Badger Primary // Hufflepuff Primary
“I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.” - Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
[Caption: a grid of pictures to evoke an aesthetic (a crescent moon, a jar labeled ‘bat wings’ and a skull, two ravens perching together; a tea set on a wooden tray, glowing letters that say ‘There is no beauty without some strangeness - Poe’, a cat silhouetted on a full moon; a bat sunbathing, a ritual involving an animal skull and candles, two ravens perching on a leafless tree.).]

back? + reflection
I haven’t been active on tumblr since 2020. But I was rereading a book yesterday and I came across this quote and decided to log in again. Totally forgot to close my requests, and turns out there’s a decent amount of them in my mailbox, which is honestly kind of cool, and there are already some that I’d like to start tackling again.
I did take the quiz again yesterday and I still am a solid Bird/Badger // Ravenpuff with a snake/slytherin secondary model. I’ve still never burned/exploded my primary nor ever had a model, which I think is pretty unusual, but hey, means that I get to be a textbook example if needed.
Anyways, I find it cool that the community is still around and going, and I also want to indicate that this blog is active again (as of 2022).

Slytherin Primary // Snake Primary
as according to @sortinghatchats‘ system.
“All witches are selfish, the Queen had said. But Tiffany’s Third Thoughts said: Then turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours! Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect them! Save them! Bring them into the sheepfold! Walk the gale for them! Keep away the wolf! My dreams! My brother! My family! My land! My world! How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine!
I have a duty!”

Do you have any quote for a stable and clear-eyed yet hopeful and bright Bird Primary ?
“One thing I've learned: you can know anything, it's all there, you just have to find it.” - John Constantine, The Sandman, Issue #3
I’ve been listening to the adapation of the Sandman comics on Audible before bed every night, and this one came up yesterday. Constantine himself isn’t quite a bird primary character, but I felt as if this quote fit.
There’s lots of ‘There is a Truth out there for me to find or create, even if it’s difficult and hard and hidden’ vibes in this quote. I feel like that’s what distinguishes a stable & hopeful bird primary from less stable/hopeful ones the most. The most important part is that truth is out there to find, as bird primaries are constructed ones with external parts to their ideologies that they’ve collected and discovered, and an intrinsic part of this stability is the knowledge that there is always something more to learn.
I created a moodboard based upon this as well, link here. I’m slowly starting to abandon sticking to only the colors of each house for my moodboards, just consider the orange to be symbolic or something, and thank you for the interesting question.

[ID: A three-by-three grid of photos, alternating like a checkerboard between hands holding objects over blue skies and orange sunsets with shadowy silhouettes looking upwards juxtaposed in front of them. The objects include a polaroid of the sky, half-open handcuffs, a compass necklace, and a waffle cone with clouds instead of ice cream. In the center is an image of two hands framing a casette tape suspended between them. End ID.]

Burned Bird Primary // Burned Ravenclaw Primary
from the @sortinghatchats system.
“How can you be happy in this world? You have a hole in your heart. You have a gateway inside you to lands beyond the world you know. They will call you, as you grow. There can never be a time when you forget them, when you are not, in your heart, questing after something you cannot have, something you cannot even properly imagine, the lack of which will spoil your sleep and your day and your life, until you close your eyes for the final time, until your loved ones give you poison and sell you to anatomy, and even then you will die with a hole inside you, and you will wail and curse at a life ill-lived.”

Unburnt Lion Primary // Badger Secondary a request from @boyish
hi!! your description says that requests are open and i can't find one, so i have a request for you! would you mind doing an unburnt lion primary, badger secondary board? unburnt is such a helpful way to put it--it's very much a depression and trauma recovery-sounding word and it fits nice and cozy.
Here you go! I thought candles, ironically enough, are the epitome of an unburnt house, specifically a candle relit after snuffed out. The candle may be worse for wear or somewhat melted, but you can always light it again.

Show me one atom of justice...
This is one of my all-time favorite passages from any piece of literature. And I figure it also sums up my particular brand of stable-but-somewhat-burnt bird primary.
“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable." REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE. "Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—" YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES. "So we can believe the big ones?" YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING. "They're not the same at all!" YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED. "Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—" MY POINT EXACTLY.”
― Terry Pratchett, Hogfather

“It is much easier to act than to refrain from acting. Do nothing because it is righteous or praiseworthy or noble; do nothing because it seems good to do so; do only that which you must do and which you cannot do in any other way.”
