there’s something so desperately miserable about the lyric “buy me some peanuts and cracker jack / i don’t care if i never come back”
#i don't know why exactly but this reminds me of this one party#event thing#at my old job many years ago#it was the biggest event we'd ever thrown at the time#and we covered the ballroom floor in real sod and put up a whole gazebo in the middle with a maypole and all these hand painted flags#i was still there at the end of the night after all the guests left#and i remember standing on the mezzanine overlooking the ripped up sod with the remains of the party scattered about#it was maybe 4am#it was so late the worklights had been turned on to get people out and then turned off so it was only half lit#and it made me so sad#looking down at that sod that probably went in a dumpster the next morning it felt the most peculiar kind of sorrowful#and i couldn't explain it anyone#that was also the night i lost the necklace my dad gave me for my 16th birthday that i had worn every day since#the chain broke and i thought i'd fixed it but it fell off on my way home#and i never found it again#the whole thing felt like#the end#but of what i wasn't and am not quite sure#any way that's the feeling this post reminded me of#apparently it's blogging like the tags are my livejournal hours#sorry op but here we are

happy pride month particularly to "don't mourn - organize" and to all of you i say: to life!

Thought you kids might enjoy my dad’s collection of gay pins from the 80s and early 90s
#immoral minority member also a strong contender#pride month reblog#a fun fact about my dad is that he brought the case that got gay bashing officially labelled as a hate crime in massachusetts#in case you're wondering things are still bad. but they're better#the fast is fun pin is not gay my dad just loved sailing but you know it could work for both
