she’s pretty physically healthy, especially given the amount of trouble she lands herself in. she doesn’t get sick much either but even if she is ill she?? doesn’t like letting people know?? sick kids were easy targets growing up and it’s hard to get past that

Sera snorted, wrinkling her nose and raising an eyebrow. “What? You still sore about that? Sometimes things go tits up, yeah? No point whinging.”

She’d have liked the rumour to be true, too, but that was the point of rumours. Sometimes they were shite, and you ran around for nothing. It’s why the Friends were helpful. The more people told you a thing, the more likely it was to be true? Sometimes.

Whatever; what’s-his-face had stopped, so not a complete arse. And the way he didn’t want to look at whatever this woman was called? Frigging had him.

"Come on, it’s easy, right? We chase down some useless thief, make this place a bit better? Maybe get some pay?”

An affirmative-- if reluctant-- nod from the old woman. Yes!

She could’ve done this alone, easy. It was just chasing some piss-poor thief. But she’d gotten used to having friends with her when she was running round helping. Not Friends, just friends. Difference.

She propped a hand on her hip, grinning.  “Easier with two, right? Anyway, you help me with this, I’ll owe you one, yeah? Maybe buy you a round or something. I know a place.”

Well, fuck.

She saw him. And to make matter worse, he just stopped, after she called. He should have walked away. Fast. Pretending he didn’t knew it was him she just addressed there.

But, he knew damn well that she meant him. Stopping was his initial reaction to it, and there was no way back now.

“Hey, to keep matters fair, it wasn’t just my idea to go there, okay?“ A brief pause, as he considers his next words. With quite some confidence, he crosses his arms before his chest. His voice, however, sounds more defiant than determined.

“I sure ain’t going to help you with this. Not again. ”

Frey tries his best to not pay any attention to the old woman, that still stands next to whatever-her-bloody-name-is. He wouldn’t look into her old, distressed face that begs for help and-... oh fuck come on now. Frey puffs his cheeks. “No. Just. NO.“

If there where any treasures within the sectors, they’re long gone. Frey tried his luck earlier, but the adventure ended empty-handed. It was a woman, that told him about a treasure she heard about. And he offered to go with her. She was likable to him. And he couldn’t resist the thought of riches. But in the end, they went through troubles and dangers… for nothing. What was her name again? Maybe one would call it fate. Frey considers it a stupid coincidence. There she is again, just a few meters away from him, as he walked around the corner. And she is with an old woman. The captain pauses, and hears a couple of words the elder is stammering.

< … and he stole my bag. I fell and… my bag! All I had… it was in that bag!>

Frey considers a moment to head over and offer his help. But that isn’t his thing. Playing hero is something for fools. You don’t live long if you keep putting your nose into other people’s concerns. He still hesitates, but eventually turns, pretending he heard and saw nothing.

This? Rubbish. Supposed it was all she could expect-- nobody knew about the Friends here, despite Sera’s best efforts, so listening for trouble was hard. Couldn’t get involved in shite you didn’t know about, yeah? But she’d spent ages with the Inquisition, helping frigging everyone. Helping grannies with rubbish thieves who couldn’t even not get spotted? Bit of a step down!

Nobody else would help her, though. Plenty of people around, ignoring her. Least she’d stopped to listen, yeah? Anyway, then the old woman would owe her, and grannies were great at gossip. Baby steps, right?

"I said I’d help, yeah?” she said, maybe not as sympathetically as she could have. Couldn’t help if she was stuck listening to the same thing! She glanced around, half hoping to spot some useless thief being obvious. “I’ll get it back, just-- wait, hang on.”

There! She knew him! Useless treasure hunter, yeah? Not a Friend, but close enough.  “Hey!” Frig, what was his name? “Arsehole!”

Ignoring? Not frigging likely. She gave the old woman another promise to help and jogged over, stopping on front of him with a grin.

“Fancy a payday?”
