“Strings”

Summary: Regina does her best to weave David in her net but it leads them to a fate that neither one of them has expected and leaves them tangled in each other and in the mess they made. Canon Divergence in 1x20 “The Stranger”. Written for @evilcharmingweek 2019 Day 1. Rated T for mentions of sexual situations (not explicit). So sorry this is late but I had to study for exams.

She’d underestimated him. He’d had the common sense to pull away when she’d tried to kiss him. But that would hardly be enough to save him from her clutches.

He was spilling apologies and lamenting his poor judgment but all she could hear was the sound of an opportunity to take him away from Snow for good. It could be her last one and she had to grab at it. Her own family had broken apart. The least she could do was take theirs down too.

“David,” she interrupted his awkward rambling, causing his blue eyes–wide and uncertain–to find her face. “Fate sent me to give you another chance at life. Maybe it’s time you gave me one.” It came out sincere enough even though what she was really begging for was another chance to destroy him and his precious True Love completely.

He was looking at her, caught up in the spell of her words. One simple mention of fate and he was all ears, waiting for someone to shed some clarity amidst all the confusion. And the best part was that that naive romanticism wasn’t even an added trait from the Curse. His own character held him captive in the little fairytale fantasy she was building around him.

“Heat”

Summary: When Emma Swan’s arrival in town threatens to engulf in flames Regina’s happiness, she finds the warmth of support in her husband’s arms. Set after 1x02 “The Thing You Love Most”. Written for @evilcharmingweek 2019 Day 3. Sorry this is so late but I had no motivation to edit it whatsoever.

Regina slammed the front door shut and marched up the stairs, her heels clicking loudly against the floor. Everything had been going so well, and now it was falling apart, unraveling at her fingertips thanks to Emma Swan’s presence even though it had barely even been a day since she was in town. Regina had no intention of watching her perfect life burn down around her like a sheet of paper set on fire. She had no intention of losing her family.

“Is everything all right?” David peeked out from the kitchen where he was working on dinner. He often insisted on cooking instead of her so that she could relax. He reasoned that his job at the pet shelter felt more like a hobby rather than an obligation, especially compared to her job as the mayor. A real Prince Charming indeed.

She usually found it sweet, at times even ironic, but today it made her sick. It was a part of their old lives which she hated for it reminded her that the ones they had in this land were fake. Fake and unstable while Emma Swan’s presence was a very real threat to her ever-so-fragile happiness. Emma was the Savior. Which meant she was David’s daughter. And that made him Henry’s grandfather. And that, in turn, made such a mess of things that all she wanted was to forget. Forget that she was the Evil Queen and he was Prince Charming, forget that he only loved her because her Curse had made it so, forget everything but him.

So here we’re doing something a little different. I’m going to give a list of each of the prompts from previous EC week events, and you’re all going to vote for your top two from each week. The one that wins from each week will be the prompt for that day (EC week one winner will be day one for the new week, week two for day two, etc). There were six weeks previously, so we should come out with six prompts, one for each day 1-6, and day 7 will be a free day.

“A Drowning Siren”

Written for Halloween AU (but it’s canon divergence at best) @evilcharmingweek Day 6 - Costumes. Is a little NSFW.

He’d taken the mask off. He hadn’t been thrilled about walking around in a cape and a mask he could barely see through but Neal had insisted on them being Batman and Robin this year and he’d relented. Of course that had resulted in Snow being Batgirl and, if he had to be honest, she looked ridiculous. But then again so did he. The things they did for their son. He’d been obsessed with comics ever since Regina had given him all of Henry’s old comic books after he’d left town and they had had no choice. Regina had even lent the Mercedes to David for the night. She’d put a glamor spell on it so that it could pass as the Batmobile.

Neal had been on could nine and the smile that hadn’t left his face all day was worth every inconvenience. He’d been so tired that he hadn’t even protested when they’d ushered him to bed more than an hour ago. And David had been relieved that he didn’t have to wear the uncomfortable mask anymore although he was still stuck with the costume.

The atmosphere in Granny’s was very different from the frenzy of the trick-or-treating. Alcohol was being poured, conversations were brewing and couples were kissing all over the place, already drunk. The party was in its peak. There’d been a fuss earlier because the apple bobbing contest had been canceled. Regina had said the apples had been stored incorrectly and they’d all spoiled. There’d been general disappointment and that alone proved how much things had changed. People were upset that they wouldn’t get to taste the apples that came from Regina’s own apple tree. They trusted her now and viewed her as a leader. He did too. But her presence that day was… influencing him in ways he preferred not to think about. Every time she got close or he heard her voice, it resonated deep inside him, calling to certain parts of him. Parts that were hard to hide with the jumpsuit he was wearing. So he tried to stay as far away from her as possible but that presented him with another problem.

“Hate What We Are”

She stirred to wakefulness. She’d always been a restless sleeper, plagued by nightmares that didn’t make sense. Or worse – they did. But the past few nights had been even worse. She’d been tossing and turning, drifting in and out of sleep for no apparent reason. She sighed and sat up in bed, reaching for the reading lamp on her nightstand.

“You know, you’re really cute when you sleep,” a voice came from the foot of her bed, startling her, leaving her quest for light forgotten. Everything fell into place. She’d been restless for a reason.

“First, I’m not cute,” she spat out the word as if its mere existence was offensive, not to mention the fact that he’d used it to refer to her. “And second, what the hell are you doing in my bedroom in the middle of the night?” It was creepy even though she’d never voice it. A cold draft sent shivers down her spine and she noticed that the window was open. That’s how he’d gotten into her room.

“Your heart’s racing,” David noted as he stepped into the moonlit part of the room, his fangs showing as he spoke. “Scared of me?” He sounded arrogant but she could tell he was afraid of her answer.

Her heartbeat had sped up indeed but not from fear. “I’m angry.” And maybe just the tiniest bit excited too. She hated herself for it. And she hated him too. “What are you doing here?” she asked again as he’d deflected her question the first time. He’d promised to stay away and not make it any harder than it had to be. “I told you no.”

hmm. I think maybe I can throw up a few prompts, but Christmastime is so hectic I don’t think we would be able to get as much participation as we may get for Halloween week. But it’s worth a shot :) Thanks for the message!
