Bed Sharing
Written for @evilcharmingweek 2018 Day 3 - Bed Sharing. Set some time after Henry left Storybrooke.
The knob turned under his fingers and the door opened silently. He let himself in. He had knocked a few times but had not received an answer so he had decided to check what was going on.
“Regina,” David called but did not receive a reply. She had to be home since the door was unlocked.
He checked the first floor but did not find her anywhere so he headed upstairs. He had no idea which room was Regina’s bedroom but he heard a sob coming from behind one of the doors. He opened it and found Regina curled up in her bed. He opened his mouth to speak but she was faster.
“I don’t recall inviting you.” Her voice was steady and her words biting as usually despite the fact that she had probably been crying until now.
“I let myself in.” David stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. “We’re all worried about you. We haven’t seen you in days and I decided to check on you.”
“You can go home and tell your wife that I’m fine.” Regina made no move to turn around and look at him.
“I’m not going to lie to her, Regina,” David said firmly. She was not fine and he wasn’t going anywhere. He circled the bed and sat down on it, now able to see her face.
“What are you doing?” she raised her voice slightly and tried to glare at him but the effect was lost due to the visible salty tracks on her cheeks.
“You don’t actually want to be left alone but it would kill you to admit it.” He reached out to wipe away what was left of her tears but she caught his hand.
“Spare me the psychoanalysis, will you?” She pushed his hand away and moved to turn her back to him again.
“Henry wouldn’t want this for you,” David said, feeling guilty that he had to use her love for her son but she wouldn’t listen to him otherwise.
She froze when he brought up Henry and a tear fell from her eye, leaving another wet trail on her skin. “I miss him so much,” her voice trembled from all the emotions she was trying to hold in.
David didn’t know what to say. They all missed Henry but they had moved on with their lives. In many senses Henry was Regina’s life though. She had managed to find her place in the world because of him and now that he was gone, her world was falling apart.
He put his hand on her arm in an attempt to soothe her and this time she didn’t push him away. She even relaxed under his touch. That was all that he needed to make up his mind. He lay down and rested his head on the second pillow.
“What do you think you’re doing now?” This time Regina did sound a little angry but her eyes were wide and betrayed her confusion.
“Getting comfortable,” he said as if it was obvious. “You can’t expect me to sit like that all night. My back will be killing me tomorrow.”
“That’s why you have a bed. At home. With your wife and son.” She returned quickly and her tone was firm, not leaving room for negotiation.
“Snow and Neal will be fine without me tonight.” David wasn’t giving up either.
“So will I,” Regina insisted. “Snow will be worried sick if you don’t go home.”
“She’ll be worried sick if I tell her I found you crying and left you alone,” David said and won a death glare from her.
“David–”
“I’ll message her.” He held her gaze, making it clear that she couldn’t change his mind.
“I’m in no mood for heart-to-heart,” Regina finally gave in.
“As you wish.” David grinned. “I’ll text Snow that we’ll be sleeping together tonight.”
Regina rolled her eyes but chuckled. “Just be careful not to renew the feud between your wife and me. We don’t have another forty years to spare.”

EC week, Day one - Caught in the Act prompt.
They’d been sneaking around for months. He would come to her office for his lunch breaks, something innocent enough that they could say they were working, should she get a different visitor, but private enough that they could enjoy their time alone. On weekends that Henry was with Emma, David would bring Neal over, and the three of them would enjoy some quality time together, doing kid friendly things Friday night until Neal was in bed, and then they would get to their less kid friendly activities, their moments alone spent between sheets, tangled together, hiding themselves away from the rest of the town, lest they receive any judgment.
Not that there ought to be; Snow had been dead nearly a year and a half now. Neal was just short of four, most definitely old enough to be telling people of his trips to Regina’s house, the ones where he and his father stayed all night and breakfast was made first thing in the morning, providing sustenance for two of her three favorite guys before they took off for the day, until after the evening came again and David could come back over. They’d been doing this for almost six months now, hiding their growing relationship from his family, from Henry… from everybody. It wasn’t by his choice. No, David wanted people to know, he was tired of keeping secrets, tired of asking his small child to, but Regina was afraid of what people might think. She didn’t tell him, but she feared everyone would remind David that his deceased wife was her archenemy for nearly a lifetime. She had fallen in love with Snow’s prince, and she didn’t want to lose him.
So David went along with it because he wanted her to be ready when they told people. He went along with the sneaking around and the keeping secrets, because he’d grown to love her and it was what she needed. Regina had agreed they would tell Henry and Emma soon, at least let their children know so that they didn’t have to hide from the people most important to them. That day hadn’t come yet, though, and so here Regina was, leaving Granny’s through the back door and into the parking alley behind the restaurant and inn, where David was waiting for her in his truck. It was past dinner time, and most people had gone home. Henry was with Emma and Neal, having a sleepover for David’s late shift at work, which he’d be heading to after their quick dinner at his house.
Slipping into the truck, Regina leaned over and kissed him, a faint smile playing at her lips as she pulled back and tugged her seatbelt on. “You know, I know it’s best we tell Emma and Henry soon, but I sort of like this sneaking around thing we’re doing.”
David grinned, shaking his head and stroking the length of her jawline with the back of his fingers. “I’m sure you do, and I can’t say it hasn’t been fun, but we don’t want them to find out on their own. Emma’s one thing, but Henry? I’m not sure he’d understand. Actually, I’m surprised he hasn’t caught on yet, since he’s nearly an adult and not nearly as naive as he once was.”
She nodded, letting out a soft sigh. “I know. Soon.”
He was leaning in to kiss her when his phone started buzzing, and David picked it up off the seat, seeing Emma’s name on the screen. He swiped to answer it, bringing the phone to his ear. “Hey, what’s up?”
“Hey dad, I just got a call forwarded from the station. There’s a complaint about some kids tagging boats at the docks. Can you answer it? Or come get Neal?”
David looked over at Regina and sighed. “Yeah, all right. I can get there in… maybe twenty minutes.”
“Yeah, that should be fine. I imagine if it’s teenagers they’ll either get bored by then or they’ll still be doing it and you can give them a slap on the wrist.”
“Alright. Have a good night.” He hung up the phone, then dropped it to the seat, settling his hand on Regina’s thigh. “Well, it looks like we’ll be missing dinner tonight.”
She nodded. “I gathered as much. That’s okay, I’ll go home and when you’re done, you can come over for a bit.”
David unbuckled, scooting over on the seat so he was closer to her. Cupping her jaw in one hand, he leaned in a pressed a soft kiss to her lips. “I was so looking forward to having you for dessert, though,” he teased, bumping his nose against hers.
“Well who says we can’t have dessert first?” Regina smirked, moving her hand over his crotch and squeezing. “There’s plenty of space in this truck, and I bet if you park over by those trees, we’ll go completely unnoticed. It’s dark enough anyway.”
He chuckled softly, then moved back over and started the truck. Regina didn’t waste any time though, unbuckling and working both hands to undo his jeans as he put the car in drive. She couldn’t tug them down, but there was enough room that she could slip her hand into his boxers and take him into her hand, stroking him to get him fully ready for her. It never seemed to take much, and she didn’t know if that was testament to her skill or to his sex drive, or maybe it was both.

The Wedding Date
David rushes around the mess of his apartment, tossing last minute items into his bags as he brushes his teeth. He can’t shake his nerves. In two hours, he’ll be on a flight to London – seeing his family for the first time in two years (not long enough in his opinion) – and he’ll be with her.
Listening to her message about sending a messenger over to get her ticket had only served to ratchet up his nerves. He still can’t believe he’d hired an escort. Something he thought he’d been morally opposed to until he’d been right up against the date of the wedding without a date. He’d needed someone to take, and not just anyone. He’d needed someone who could convince his family that he wasn’t the sad-sack they considered him to be. That he’d met someone and fallen in love – moved on. He needed them to believe it. He can’t take any more looks of pity. And it doesn’t help that she is the maid of honor. Mary Margaret; queen of breaking his heart.
The messenger knocking on the door startles him out of his thoughts and he stubs his toe on the way to answer it. Swearing softly, he pulls open the door. “Just a second,” he tells him, limping over to the envelope in his drawer. Pulling it open, he scribbles her name on the front and goes to hand it over. “Last chance to change my mind,” he says, hesitating. At the messenger’s look of confusion, he adds “It’s a plane ticket for my date.”
The guy whistles. “Must be some date if you’re taking her on a trip.”
“I hope so.” David lets out a nervous breath before relinquishing his hold on the envelope. “Thanks.”

EC week Day 6 James kisses Regina in the Underworld
Very, very late to the party but inspiration finally struck for Day 6 of @evilcharmingweek. Big thanks to @onhowtobecrazy for looking this over. This takes place in a version where Robin left town with Marian who was really Marian and hasn’t come back.
FF link
You shouldn’t kiss and tell
It’s probably not the best idea Regina has ever had, to drink alone in this dilapidated version of Granny’s in the Underworld, when her magic is so unpredictable, when she is vulnerable to the countless number of people she sent to this place. The Blind Witch seemed in a good mood though when she entered, and apart from the usual exchange of barbs with which they greeted each other, she had left her alone. Regina had briefly wondered what was keeping her so busy since the place was mostly deserted.
She is far from drunk, just buzzed enough to feel relaxed for the first since she has set foot in this awful place. Being confronted to the demons of her past hasn’t been easy and she really needed a break from the Charmings and Emma and their desperate quest to save Hook. She has a growing bad feeling about this whole adventure, but given how supportive Snow and David have been ever since Robin had to leave town with his resuscitated wife, she can’t decently abandon them to their fate now. She only wishes that Henry would go home where he would be safer, though there is no guarantees in Storybrooke.
She finishes her drink with this thought in mind, cursing the fact that Henry has inherited his whole family’s stubbornness, and requests a refill. She is reaching for the full glass when the door opens and David enters.
Regina frowns slightly because there is something different about him, something… darker, and suddenly she understands. This is not David. The frown turns into a grin because she is on the playful side of her buzz, and this could prove to be fun, especially if James thinks he has fooled her.
He sits right next to her, asks for a whisky on the rocks and stays silent. She looks at him, wondering what he is planning.
“What are you doing here, David?” She decides to play for a moment, let him believe he has the upper hand.
“You shouldn’t be out there alone, this is a dangerous place,” James replies and he is good, she thinks. He must have observed his brother long enough to pick up on his intonation and mannerism, but she knows both brothers rather well, has been intimate with James once upon a time, she can tell the subtle differences, like the predatory glint in his eyes when he glances at her, the way he tries to cover his smirk at the idea that he has duped her. He exudes something different than his twin brother, something more dangerous. Regina should know, it was what attracted her to him in the first place.
“I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself, Charming, I don’t need a bodyguard,” she counters, adds a hint of flirtation for good measure, slurs a tad to make him believe that she is drunker than she really is.
“Is that so? How many of those have you had?” He asks her, nodding towards her drink, but his eyes drop to her cleavage as she turns just the right way to put it on show.
She pretends to think about her answer, she knows exactly how much she has had but she wants to see how far he will go. “Not enough to forget that you’re married to Snow White, dear, if that’s what you want to know,” she settles, her voice dropping lower, more raspy, more sultry, reminiscent of the woman he once knew, and she sees him shivering.
“Really? And how many more would that take I wonder?” His face moves closer and closer to hers, until she can feel his breath on her skin.
“Wouldn’t you love to know,” Regina whispers.
He closes the distance then, and if she had any doubt left, this kiss would erase them at once. He is a fierce and possessive lover, probably the only lover she had in the Enchanted Forest who could stand up to the Evil Queen and live to tell the tale. They fed off their darkest desires, and if the growl he lets out is any indication, he wouldn’t mind doing it again.
She breaks the kiss when the need for air becomes too pressing, and she is pleased to see that she is not the only one panting.
“It’s nice to see you again, James,” she greets once she has regained control of her breathing.
He looks taken aback. “You knew?”
“From the very moment you entered this place,” she confirms. “I have a good memory, also I have spent enough time around Cruella to recognize that particularly strong scent of gin,” she adds, wrinkling her nose.
He looks at her in what seems to be admiration for a moment, and then he smirks again. “It’s funny how Snow White couldn’t tell me apart from her own husband, but you just took one look at me and realised it.”
“Well what can I say, the apple fell far from the tree,” Regina shrugs playfully, never one to miss the chance to take a dig at Snow.
“And to think our fathers wanted to arrange a wedding between us, what a waste that would have been. Sure she doesn’t lack in liveliness, but why settle for a Princess when you can have the Queen? I don’t understand how my brother could be so stupid,” he complains, and it’s plain to understand how resentful he is of his brother.
“His loss, your gain,” she says, trying to lighten the mood, and then that predatory look is back.
“Most certainly,” he mumbles before pouncing on her again. He isn’t holding anything back, she isn’t even sure he cares that there are a couple of other patrons in the diner, he wouldn’t mind giving them a show, she knows. She has a flash of a previous encounter where James hadn’t even waited until her guards and servants had left the room to begin to disrobe, and they had seen much more than she would have wanted them to.
He doesn’t get the chance though, for his mirror image comes into the diner and stops dead in his tracks at the sight of them.
“What the hell?” David, the real one this time, exclaims indignantly, and James tears himself away from her to throw a disgusted look at the newcomer.
Regina feels the risk of these two coming face to face and she knows she has to act fast.
“Well this was fun,” she says, getting up and moving purposely between them. “Until next time, James,” she tells him, turning towards David, but James grabs her arm and spins her against him, fitting her between his opened legs.
“You would rather go back with that weakling rather than spend the night with me? I could remind you what exactly had you coming back for more,” he soughs in her ear, but he speaks loud enough for David to hear every word, his hands settling low on her back.
“As tempting as that sounds, I like my lover a tad more alive and preferably without a leash. What would poor, dear Cruella say if she knew about this?” Regina replies, and his grip on her hips tightens.
“Cruella is an enjoyable treat, but there is only one Queen,” he tells her, and she can almost believe he is sincere.
“Too bad that she is long gone,” she whispers against his lips and backs away.
He lets her, admitting defeat for now, though she knows he won’t give up that easily. She grabs David’s arm and leaves the diner.
“Close your mouth dear, it’s unbecoming,” she orders, and his jaw snaps shut.
“You… you and him,” he stammers in disbelief and she rolls her eyes.
“Is that really that hard to believe?” She asks. “You two seem to have a type, you really shouldn’t be that surprised,” those words leave him speechless and she walks away with a satisfied smile on her lips.

Regina Mills led her best friend, David Nolan, into the Las Vegas hotel to check-in, glad to see someone ready and waiting at the receptionist’s desk. She hadn’t told him about the place they were staying, and she wanted to get up to their room before he caught on to where they were. The receptionist proved efficient, and Regina took their room keys and tilted her head to signal David to follow. Leading him to the elevator, she pushed the button for their floor and watched as he dragged her huge suitcase in, his duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
“Will you tell me already what’s with the mysteriousness? It’s just a bachelor weekend, it doesn’t need to be secretive.”
Regina smirked at him. “Well, my dear, one of the lovely benefits for having a woman as the best man for the ceremony of your impending doom is that everything will be planned and perfect.”
David sighed, shaking his head. Regina and Mary Margaret hadn’t gotten along a single day since he’d started dating his now soon-to-be wife. Still, he was thankful that his best friend had put aside her feelings to be part of his big day, and had clearly gone through a lot to plan a fun weekend for the last weekend before he was a married man.
“The guys are all meeting us here sometime this evening. Like the men that they are, they didn’t book their flights when I told them to, so the earlier flight was full by time any of them tried. They land around six, I think.”
“Good, then we can have a solid dinner before you all try to get me as wasted as possible,” David joked, knowing that a night with all of his friends, Killian, Neal, August, Jefferson, and Eric, along with Regina, would very likely end in most of them passed out after way too many drinks and sleeping in until noon.
Chuckling, Regina led him off the elevator and onto another, a glass one that would bring them right into the Sky Villa she’d booked for the weekend. When it did so, David stepped inside, eyes wide in amazement.
“Shit, Regina, how much did this cost you?”
“Not telling. Besides, it’ll hold all of us, while also keeping me away from all the guys at night. God knows I don’t need to sleep with any of them again.”
David rolled his eyes, standing her suitcase upright and pushing the handle down, then dropping his duffel bag to the floor. “Yeah, please don’t, I don’t want to have to right hook any of them.”
Regina hooked her arm through his and pulled him. “Come on, I’ll show you around.” She led him through the two-story villa, explaining that they’d each have their own bed, even if some of the guys had to double up on the rooms, and they’d essentially each have use of their own bathroom. She showed him the pool next, encased in glass and jutting out over the city. Her eyes danced in amusement at how dumbfounded he was to be staying in a place like this, and Regina knew immediately she’d made the right decision. Leading him into the room that would be hers, she dropped down onto the bed and pulled him with her.
“Seriously, Regina, this is too much.”
“Nothing is too much for you.” She looked over at him, finding his gaze already set on her. “You only get married once, right? Well, ideally. And besides, it’s your last weekend of freedom probably ever, and who knows when you’re going to get all of your friends in one place again. Just enjoy it.”
David nodded, covering her hand with his on the bed and squeezing. He knew she hated marriage, didn’t believe in it, either, but she’d really proven herself when it came to being his right hand for his wedding to Mary Margaret. Ever since Daniel had died when he and David were only eighteen and fresh at college, the latter had taken care to make sure Regina was never alone for long, and the rest was history. They’d become inseparable over the last fifteen years, and they’d seen each other through a lot of messes life threw at them.
“So what should we do until dinnertime?” he asked, giving her a smile.
“I was thinking we could go gamble. Or we could swim. Or there’s an exclusive part of the hotel that’s for couples only. We could pretend and go check it out.”
“Couples only?” he asked, arching an eyebrow.
Regina smirked mischievously. “It may or may not be for swingers.” She laughed when he groaned, but sat up and tugged on his hand. “Come on, let’s just go see. It’s not like you have to agree at the door that you’re going to have a romp with someone. I’ve always wanted to see what one was like, and since I don’t care to be coupled up with anyone, I’ve never gotten to. Please? Half an hour tops.”
David sighed, sitting up. “Can’t you go with Jefferson or Killian when they get here? They don’t have girlfriends, and maybe you could find someone to trade partners with for however long that takes.” His face scrunched slightly.
“I don’t want to fuck anyone, David, I just want to see what it’s like, and if you really don’t want to, we don’t have to. But I don’t want to go with anyone but you. I like the guys, but I don’t want to do that with them, I want to just check it out with someone I trust, and you know you’re the only person in the world I trust besides my father.”
“Okay, okay. What’s the dress requirement?”
Grinning, Regina pulled up the information on her phone. “There’s a poolside one, but then there’s also an indoor club, which is just dressy casual.”
“Okay, the pool, only because I’d rather be in an open space than somewhere enclosed if we’re going to do this.
“Perfect.”
